Contract Marriage: Let's Make It Real, Mrs. Sterling!-Chapter 212: Leveling Up with Professor Xi (Launched)
Mia Sutton stared at herself in the mirror, her skin flushed pink, eyes wide open, and she reached out and slapped her face hard.
She declared self-righteously: "Mia, you’re just blushing because it’s hot, not because you’re embarrassed."
After finishing her plea, she nodded to herself confidently, affirming her own statement.
While drying her hair, she walked out, and when she opened the bathroom door and saw the bed in the bedroom, her hand paused in its towel-drying motion.
Her mind was suddenly filled with a string of questions: ???
What’s going on? Why did Jensen Sterling come back to the room so early today? Isn’t he busy?
...
Meanwhile, Jensen, hearing the bathroom door open, opened his eyes and slowly glanced over, but his gaze became even deeper, like an endless vortex.
The girl standing not far away was wearing a light summer nightgown, short-sleeved, revealing a stretch of her jade arm, pale skin tinged with the same pink, her cheeks flushed, eyes shimmering like spring water.
Occasionally, droplets of water from her hair dripped onto her clothes, leaving traces on the pale yellow garment, spreading little by little.
After some time, he slowly withdrew his gaze, his voice soft as he said, "The hairdryer is on the table. Blow your hair dry."
Mia snapped back to reality, responded with a soft "oh," and turned to find the hairdryer, asking while searching: "Mr. Sterling, why did you come back to the room so early today?"
Only after speaking did she realize her words were off, as if she didn’t want him in the room, which was his room after all.
Then she secretly berated herself: Where did your conversational skills go?
Turning back to Jensen to remedy the situation, she waved a hand, "Mr. Sterling, I didn’t mean I didn’t want you in your room, I just..."
"You’re usually so busy, working late, so I was just curious to see you having an early rest."
Jensen heard this, and chuckled lightly, "Mom has already checked the study twice."
Mia: "Huh...?"
"If I don’t come back, she’d probably come again later."
Ashley Vance’s purpose in coming this time was surely about the two living together. She knows her son well, although he outwardly shows respect and seems to listen to her, he’s done plenty of things against her wishes.
In the past, she turned a blind eye and didn’t interfere.
But not this time. She’s getting older, often by herself, the house always feels a bit lonely, she wants a young person to keep her company.
This is one reason, the main reason is that she hopes someone can be by Jensen’s side, someone who can truly touch his heart, letting him experience emotional highs and lows.
Upon hearing Jensen’s words, Mia understood Ashley’s intent, paused for several seconds, then parted her lips: "...oh."
Jensen watched the girl sitting there, speaking to him sideways, his gaze unintentionally swept over her chest, Adam’s apple rolling slightly, then stood up and said:
"I’ll go shower first."
Mia had started blow-drying her hair, casually responded upon hearing this.
...
Jensen entered the bathroom; the steam from Mia’s recent shower hadn’t cleared, even the air seemed to linger with the faint scent of the girl.
Images of Mia appeared in his mind again, summer clothes were naturally thin, not to mention the nightgown, which was even thinner.
Water from her hair dripped, wetting the clothes, clinging to her body, faintly revealing...
His Adam’s apple rolled quickly once more.
After blow-drying her hair, Mia hesitated briefly between sleeping or staying up a bit longer.
Finally, she decided to stay up a bit longer.
It was just too early now, for a night owl like her, even if she lay down, she’d never fall asleep.
Plus, imagining herself pretending to sleep when Jensen comes out seemed ridiculously challenging, she didn’t think she’d mastered the art of fake sleeping.
So she gave up the idea, grabbed her phone and opened a game; her rank had dropped significantly lately, it was the perfect time now to play a bit.
Mia placed her phone on the bed after opening the game, then rubbed her hands together.
Please, almighty gods, let her luck be better today, no more being matched against couples.
Couples are fine, but please don’t chase her just because she accidentally killed one of their partners, that’s terrifying, okay...
After silently praying to all the gods, she started matchmaking.
...
The first thing Jensen heard as he finished showering and opened the door was, "Whoa, dude, come on, don’t just chase me! I’m getting pissed."
The bed covers had a corner lifted with a foot sticking out, the girl sitting on the edge of the bed, cheeks puffed angrily, little feet swinging back and forth.
Then, her foot stopped swinging.
The next second, she tossed her phone into the bed covers.
"What a rubbish opponent, love-struck fool, who’s the one claiming there’s no love in esports!"
She scolded, then harshly poked two fingers into the phone buried in the covers.
Watching her puffed-up anger, Jensen curved his lips into a smile, chuckling softly.
Mia immediately looked up from the bed.
Seeing him standing a short distance away, looking at her, Mia: "..." My image!!!
Then she laughed awkwardly: "Mr. Sterling, you finished showering."
"Yes." He responded and walked over.
He raised an eyebrow slightly, then asked, "Lost a game?"
Mia nodded, then bent to pick up the phone she had abandoned on the bed, checked the stats with frustration.
"The opposing team had a couple, and I accidentally killed the girl once, then the guy kept hunting me."
She wasn’t aware her voice sounded almost like a pout.
...
Minutes later, Mia, holding her phone, selected a support role, followed the shooter obediently, then quickly broke character, angrily glaring at the screen.
"That’s them, Mr. Sterling, attack!"
Mia specifically pulled those two into the game to exact revenge!
Jensen saw the opposing shooter and support advancing, listening to the vengeful-sounding girl beside him, he chuckled.
Then maneuvered his character forward, landing a skill, pressing the attack.
His movements were agile, the opponent’s skills were almost impossible to land on him, fingers flying across the screen. 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝙬𝙚𝓫𝒏𝓸𝓿𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝙤𝓶
The opposing shooter was skilled, not dead yet, only driven into the tower by Jensen, not daring to come out at all.
