Contract Marriage: Let's Make It Real, Mrs. Sterling!-Chapter 193: Buying Food for Your Sister-in-law
The people in the private room fell silent, not disturbing them. Even those with ulterior motives backed down, realizing that the impact on their careers mattered more than the chance to make connections.
No one wants to end up gaining nothing but water in a basket, losing both the lady and the soldiers, that would truly be a loss.
Without others interrupting, the atmosphere was quite nice, and since it was Brian Rhodes’ first visit back to the country, Jensen Sterling didn’t leave in a hurry.
He roughly discussed future company developments and some project plans.
Clark Jacobs lay lazily to one side, watching the two seriously discuss work in a place like this: "..."
After a long while, they were almost finished talking, Jensen Sterling instinctively raised his wrist to check the time.
Clark Jacobs followed his gaze downwards and exclaimed, "Jensen, I remember you didn’t wear that watch before, why did you change it? By the way, it’s quite nice, but cheaper than your previous one."
Jensen Sterling listened to him finish, and leisurely replied, "My wife bought it."
The smile on Clark Jacobs’ face froze immediately, wishing he could slap his own mouth, wondering why he had to run it.
He chuckled awkwardly twice, then said, "Oh, so your wife bought it, no wonder it looks so nice."
Brian Rhodes watched Clark Jacobs, laughing at how thoughtless he was.
Jensen Sterling picked up his clothes, saying flatly, "It’s getting late, you guys enjoy. I’m heading out."
"So soon? It’s still early, isn’t it?" Clark Jacobs was a bit surprised, since usually they stayed much longer, it hadn’t been that long.
Jensen Sterling said nonchalantly, "Going to get some food for your sister-in-law."
Even as Jensen Sterling’s figure disappeared from the doorway, Clark Jacobs hadn’t fully registered it, his voice dreamy, "What did Jensen just say?"
"Going to get some food for your sister-in-law."
Clark Jacobs: "..." It felt like he had just witnessed a show-off session, then he turned to Brian Rhodes and said, "Jensen can’t be serious, can he?"
Brian Rhodes took out a cigarette, lit it, took a drag, and said indifferently, "Who knows? Didn’t he just avoid answering?"
Clark Jacobs thought carefully about Jensen Sterling’s behavior recently, nodding after a moment, "I think Jensen is serious."
Essentially, the three of them were the same, all disregarding emotions, he and Brian Rhodes just found feelings to be too cheap, besides sometimes making themselves unrecognizable, they served no other purpose.
But this was only towards partners, they were still okay with family.
However, Jensen Sterling was different, his emotional detachment was genuine.
Nothing caught his eye, disturbed his peace, even kinship was just two symbols to him.
He executed tasks so perfectly that he seemed less like a person, more like a precise machine.
...
Jensen Sterling didn’t care what they thought, after leaving the bar, he drove in a large circle, heading to a private restaurant.
The receptionist recognized Jensen Sterling immediately, swiftly greeting him with a professional smile, "Mr. Sterling, welcome. Please, come inside. What would you like to order?"
Jensen Sterling replied, "One order of spicy crayfish, to go."
The waiter paused for a moment upon hearing this, quickly recovered, and responded, "Alright, please wait a moment."
They were a private dining establishment and generally didn’t allow takeaways, except for high-level members. It was rare for someone to order takeaways, which is why he didn’t initially react.
