Contract Marriage: Let's Make It Real, Mrs. Sterling!-Chapter 158: Gifted Wristwatch (Combined - s 1 and 2)
Early the next morning, Mia Sutton woke up early, yawning as she tinkered around in the kitchen. Her beautiful eyes became misty from yawning, with tiny dewy droplets suspended on her long eyelashes, ready to fall.
Mia rubbed her eyes with her hand, her eyelids a bit red, and she stared grudgingly at the porridge in the pot.
She regretted it; she shouldn’t have set five alarms this morning, subjecting herself to a relentless wake-up call.
Waking up early is really painful!
Despite the resentful look in her eyes, Mia stood there, preparing some dishes, all very light but still looking and smelling delicious.
Jensen Sterling got up intending to get some water, only to see the girl yawning as she carried meals to the table.
Mia was regretting her decision to get up so early for the 108th time.
Then Jensen came over and took the items from her hands.
Mia’s eyes widened instantly, her sleepiness dissipating a bit: "Mr. Sterling?"
Jensen responded softly, bringing the rest of the items to the table, and asked gently: "Got up early to make breakfast?"
Not talking about the early rising was fine, but mentioning it made Mia feel severely sleep-deprived, raising one hand to cover her mouth and yawning again, like a soft little kitten, obedient and making one naturally want to pet her.
"Yeah, this, this, and this—all for you." Mia pointed at several things on the table and said to Jensen.
"Remember to eat breakfast even when busy, especially since your stomach isn’t great."
Jensen’s fingertips twitched twice, feeling a mix of emotions. Though their time under the same roof wasn’t long, Jensen knew the girl had the habit of never rising early if she could help it.
He hadn’t expected her to get up early today just to make him breakfast.
Jensen’s eyes flickered, recalling when Cameron Grant mentioned he valued Mia too much; did he really value her?
He’d only helped out a little within his capabilities, but she was just so nice that one couldn’t help but want to be even nicer to her.
...
The table was quiet except for the sound of cutlery clinking.
This atmosphere made Mia’s sleepiness return visibly, her eyes half-closed, her little head nodding like a pecking chick.
When Mia nodded again, Jensen quickly reached out, palm up, to catch her nodding head.
Mia’s chin lightly bumped into Jensen’s palm, and her deer-like eyes opened instantly, looking down at the hand supporting her. After a few seconds, she slowly moved her chin away from the man’s palm, then looked toward Jensen’s direction.
The man looked at her softly, with a smile in his eyes. Mia paused, blinking, unconsciously licking her lips, then softly said, "Thank you, Mr. Sterling."
Jensen withdrew his hand, chuckling lightly, teasingly saying, "So, should I also thank you for cooling me down yesterday and making porridge? Oh, and today’s breakfast?"
Mia: "..." What sort of twisted logic is this!
Seeing her expression, Jensen noticed a lock of her hair was slightly sticking up, so he raised his hand, rubbing her hair, feeling a sense of satisfaction. Seeing her looking so sleepy made him want to pat her.
Just like some cats, when you pet them, they’ll squint comfortably and purr, sometimes even showing their belly. Although Mia wouldn’t, he just wanted to pet her.
Then he slowly added, "So likewise, you don’t need to thank me, understand?"
After saying this, he withdrew his hand, rubbing his fingertips slightly, feeling a kind of satisfaction.
Mia: "...Oh, I understand."
After all this, Mia’s sleepiness completely vanished, partly because she had dozed a little, and partly simply because of Jensen.
When she opened her eyes, she was almost startled awake.
Then the two quietly finished their breakfast, and after that, Mia suddenly remembered something, pausing her movements.
Jensen looked at her puzzled, asking, "What’s wrong?"
"Mr. Sterling, wait a moment." After saying this, she darted into the room, quickly coming out again, holding something and handing it to him.
Jensen: "...?" He reached out and took it, "What’s this?"
Mia blinked, "Open it and see."
She had brought it back from the program yesterday, but forgot to give it to him then.
Jensen, hearing this, sat down and took the item out of the box, unexpectedly finding it was a wristwatch.
Jensen paused his movements upon seeing it, then turned to look at Mia.
Mia blinked at him and asked, "So, do you like it?"
This watch was even a bit more expensive than the one she bought for her brother last time. After that day, she intended to buy him one similar to her brother’s.
But knowing the ring’s price changed her mind; he didn’t just casually buy a ring for an agreement marriage. Instead, he took it seriously, so she carefully selected another watch.
Watching Jensen’s reaction, Mia was somewhat nervous; she had chosen it seriously and hoped he liked it.
Jensen watched Mia, then took the watch out, removed the one on his wrist, and put on the one Mia gave him, showing her through action, then said, "It looks great, I really like it."
Mia heard this, her eyes happily curving, relieved that it wasn’t in vain that she had carefully selected it.
After tidying up, it was about time, and Mia was again rushing off to the show program; Jensen picked up a coat from the side, casually draped over his arm, and looked at Mia: "Let’s go, I’ll drive you."
Mia didn’t refuse; after all, she didn’t have a car. Once the show was over, she definitely planned to buy one, having not driven in a while and itching to.
There was no traffic today, so they reached the program group quickly, stopping nearby as always. After getting out of the car, Mia waved to the person inside: "Goodbye, Mr. Sterling."
Not noticing, there was a car parked not far away, the window half-down, with someone inside steadily watching Mia!
