Contract Marriage: Let's Make It Real, Mrs. Sterling!-Chapter 157: Warmed Stomach, Warmed Heart
Jensen Sterling slowly sipped his porridge, his fair and slender fingers holding the spoon, sipping bit by bit. Even though he was ill, his movements were unhurried, still extremely pleasing to the eye, like a gentleman who never rushed at any time.
As he was about to finish, Mia Sutton suddenly pushed her chair back and stood up, prompting Jensen Sterling to instinctively look up.
His eyes questioned: What’s the matter?
Mia understood his meaning, pointing towards his room, she asked, "Mr. Sterling, may I go to your room for a moment?"
It was a special situation at the time; ordinarily, Mia would not enter Jensen Sterling’s room, hence she asked.
Jensen nodded at her words: "Okay."
Afterwards, he placed the spoon in the bowl and continued, "Next time, if you want to go in, just go; no need to ask me."
Mia: "...Oh."
In Jensen’s view, Mia ran off into his room and quickly came back.
She was carrying a plastic bag with medication inside; Jensen recognized them as the ones on his desk.
Mia came out with the medication, walking over briskly, placing them on the table, and then taking them out one by one.
As she was taking them out, she asked, "Mr. Sterling, when did you take your medication, and did you eat something when you took it?"
Jensen thought for a moment: "Around ten o’clock when I came home, and I didn’t eat."
Mia instantly looked up, gazing at him as if he were foolish: "..."
There truly are people who don’t care about their own bodies.
"You only took your medication once today? And on an empty stomach?"
Upon hearing Jensen’s confirmation, Mia: "..." No wonder he’s in pain.
Then she took out the medication one by one, went to pour a glass of warm water, and squeezed the pills into her palm.
Handing the medication over: "Here, take your medicine."
Jensen lowered his gaze to the hand in front of him, the fingers were like scallion roots, fair and clean, the nails trimmed neatly, and quietly in the palm lay several pills, some white, others colored, forming a striking contrast.
For a moment, Jensen’s heartbeat skipped.
A warm current swirled in his heart, not knowing if it was due to the porridge he just drank or the person in front of him.
Jensen received the pills from Mia’s hand, their fingertips briefly brushing together, a slight itchy sensation came through, making his fingertip pause for a moment.
Mia didn’t notice this; seeing him taking the medication, she then handed over the water, speaking as she did.
"I read the instructions before; the white pills are taken twice a day, the others three times a day, and all should be taken after meals." 𝓯𝓻𝒆𝙚𝒘𝓮𝙗𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝒍.𝙘𝓸𝙢
"You need to take the medication properly, or it will be even more uncomfortable later, and especially, don’t take them on an empty stomach; it puts a lot of strain on your stomach."
She carefully relayed everything she could think of, her beautiful eyes fixed on Jensen: "Got it?"
He finished taking his medication, listening to her words without a hint of impatience, even showing a smile in his eyes: "Yes, understood, don’t worry."
In the past, even when sick, there were only cold walls around him; having someone beside him reminding him felt novel but quite nice.
"Alright, since you’ve finished your porridge and taken your medication, would you like to go rest a bit more?"
Jensen chuckled lightly: "I’ve slept all day; if I sleep any more, I’ll indeed have an issue. Better to move around a bit."
A few minutes later, Mia stood aside, looking at him seriously washing the dishes: "..."
She truly didn’t expect that Jensen’s idea of moving around was this!
