Contract Marriage: Let's Make It Real, Mrs. Sterling!-Chapter 146: The Best Actor Is an Unknown Star
Ashley Vance sat for a while, then got up from the sofa, saying she was going to cut some fruit. Before leaving, she turned to Mia Sutton, "Mia, come help mom."
Mia observed the atmosphere around her, saw Jensen Sterling smile and nod at her, then she stood up and walked towards Ashley.
Once in the kitchen, Ashley’s face turned neutral, and she said to Mia, "Bring over the fruit next to you and wash it."
Mia obeyed without daring to protest, bringing over the fruit obediently and then turned on the faucet to start washing it—obedience at its peak.
A few seconds later, a voice rang in her ears, her mom leaning casually on the side, her tone slowly speaking.
"I recall you said you were seeing someone, and he’s an obscure little actor. Since when could an award-winning actor be dismissed as a small actor?"
Mia: "..."
"When did you get married?"
Mia knew her mom was angry, cautiously lifted her eyes to glance at her, and then said, "It’s been a few months."
"It’s been months and you haven’t told us. Did you think we didn’t deserve to know?"
Mia murmured in response, "No, mom, I... just hadn’t figured out how to tell you."
The main issue is, they are fake, which complicates matters.
Ashley remembered last night when Simon Sutton came home; he said his daughter was married. At that moment, her first reaction was disbelief.
But the fact is just that!
Actually, they didn’t intend to really trouble their daughter or Jensen. The situation is already settled, and even if they disagree, it can’t be changed.
But they should still have the proper attitude. Although the Sutton Family can’t compare to the Sterling Family, their daughter grew up being cherished by them and cannot be wronged.
Regarding this matter, although they were really angry and felt like not letting anyone in, they still had to maintain the proper etiquette for the son-in-law visiting for the first time.
So even if the words were somewhat stern, they didn’t make things difficult for Jensen Sterling.
......
A while later, when Mia came out again, the atmosphere in the living room was less tense than before. Although her father’s expression was still calm, it was better than before.
After Mia sat down, Simon Sutton said, "Since you two are already married, then be happy together. If Mia ever feels unhappy..."
Simon paused, his tone toughened, "Although our Sutton Family isn’t much, we still have the means to protect our daughter."
Jensen replied, "Yes, I will definitely treat Mia well."
Simon added a few more reminders, then said, "Alright, let’s eat."
The meal was quite peaceful, and after finishing, Jensen spontaneously cleaned up the dishes.
Ashley glanced and casually asked, "Has he always been like this?"
Mia responded with a mere "Mm, yes."
Only then did Ashley see Jensen in a slightly better light. 𝗳𝗿𝐞𝕖𝘄𝗲𝕓𝗻𝚘𝚟𝕖𝐥.𝚌𝕠𝕞
To be honest, last night, when she learned her daughter got married, her impression of this unseen son-in-law was terrible.
But today, from when he arrived, to how he managed interpersonal interactions, his speech and demeanor were just right, leaving her, unwilling to admit it but having to say he was really quite good.
Before leaving, Ashley gently said, "Since you’re married, when will you arrange a meeting between the two families?"
Jensen nodded slightly at her words, "My mother has already mentioned this matter, any time is fine."
