Chapter 229: Chapter 229: Do You Want to Stay by His Side for the Rest of Your Life?

The phone model was exactly the same as the one she used before she fell into the sea.

Maxim Sinclair even figured out a way to transfer all the data from the old phone to the new one.

Summer Lowell touched the brand-new yet familiar phone and called Vivian Sullivan.

These days, Vivian Sullivan was upset with Charles Jenson because of Summer being forced back to Maxim Sinclair’s side.

Their relationship, which had only just started to improve, fell to freezing point again.

Charles Jenson felt wronged, as Maxim was absent from the office daily, leaving all the big and small tasks on his shoulders.

In life, he had finally found someone he wanted to spend his life with, but due to Maxim, any hope of rekindling that was dashed.

It’s such a torment!

When the phone rang, Vivian Sullivan had just finished sarcastically mocking Charles Jenson.

Charles Jenson slammed the door in anger and left, while Vivian herself stood by the window in a foul mood, pondering how to help Summer escape Maxim Sinclair’s grasp.

Though Summer sounded calm on the phone, as usual, Vivian was still worried: "Your pretending to have amnesia has been exposed. Did Maxim do anything crazy? He’s so unpredictable, you must be careful!"

"For now, it seems like he won’t do anything to me. Don’t worry, I’ve known him for so long, I think I understand his temper. I’ll back down when I need to. I can’t outplay him. Being stubborn will only disadvantage me."

"It’s great that you think this way," Vivian laughed in relief. "I was just about to advise you not to go head-to-head with him. Look at Senior Huxley, he’s suffered a lot in silence at Maxim’s hands. Given the current situation, confronting him isn’t the way; it won’t hurt Maxim at all."

Summer agreed deeply: "I don’t even have a job now. While he still finds me interesting, the priority is to clear my name. After all, Tina Huxley is the one framing me. On my own, I can’t do it, but Maxim can."

As Summer spoke, she glanced guiltily at the room’s door.

On the other end, Vivian was still very concerned about her situation: "But staying with a madman is really scary. Why don’t you use his means to gather the necessary evidence and then leave? Don’t stay with him any longer."

"I understand," Summer looked up at the towering Astral Spire in the distance, enunciating each word, "but now isn’t the best time. So much has happened between us; escaping unscathed from him won’t be easy."

"Aren’t you afraid of losing your entire life to Maxim Sinclair if you delay any longer?"

For the first time, Summer hesitated at Vivian’s question.

Your whole life?

Not hearing her response for a while, Vivian raised her voice and asked a few more times, "Summer? Can you still hear me?"

"I hear you, I was just thinking," Summer avoided answering Vivian’s earlier question, using the excuse of having things to do, and hurriedly hung up the phone.

...

Assistant Collins looked at the data report just submitted to him, wearing an indescribable expression.

The secretary helping to organize the documents was curious about what he was holding, leaned over, and asked, "What’s going on? It’s rare to see you with that expression."

Assistant Collins shook his head, "Nothing, it’s just been a while since I’ve seen anyone get reckless in front of President Sinclair, it’s a bit surprising."

"What happened? Is it the shareholders causing trouble again?" The secretary’s eyes were glued to the stack of documents in Assistant Collins’ hands with curiosity.

Assistant Collins casually picked up a stack of scrap paper next to him, rolled it into a tube, and tapped it on the secretary’s head: "The stuff I just asked you for? Bring it over."

"It’s right here. I came to give it to you. Wasn’t this previously handed over directly to President Sinclair?"

"Yes, I’m going to President Sinclair’s home later, so I’ll take the documents and other miscellaneous things that need his attention, and bring them back once he’s done."

Before he could finish talking, Charles Jenson strode over to him, "You’re going to Varden Villa to find President Sinclair later? Great, I have a bunch of documents that need his review and signature. Have the secretary go over and load those documents into your car."

Hearing this, Assistant Collins raised an eyebrow slightly, as if realizing something: "President Jennings, it seems like there are quite a lot of documents?"

Charles Jenson grinned, "A great deal, to the extent that I can’t handle it alone."

After speaking, Charles walked around to the back of the desk, putting an arm around Assistant Collins like old pals, "We’re not unfamiliar, so be straight with me. When is President Sinclair planning to come back to the company? Does he still care about such a large corporation?"

"Of course he does, it’s just that President Sinclair has more important matters to deal with now, and I hope President Jennings can understand."

"I do understand," Charles lifted his chin, signaling Assistant Collins to look outside, "Noticed yet? President Sinclair hasn’t been at the company these days, and the shareholders are getting restless. Soon, it’ll be the shareholders’ meeting again."

"No worries, these are minor issues. President Sinclair has long been accustomed to such things, he can handle them with ease.

Charles glanced at a few nearby employees who looked busy but were clearly eavesdropping on gossip and dragged Assistant Collins to a secluded corner, "Tell me honestly, what’s going on with President Sinclair and that Miss Lowell? Can’t they just stop the nonsense? If they like each other, just get together already. I’m the one suffering from all their drama!"

Assistant Collins, knowing a bit about Charles Jenson’s and Vivian Sullivan’s story, patted Charles sympathetically on the shoulder, "I’ll convey your hard work to President Sinclair, but his situation is a bit complicated. I have no idea when things will settle down completely."

"By the way, I heard that Miss Lowell has regained her memory," Charles dragged Assistant Collins up to the rooftop, smoking and complaining, "I always thought President Sinclair has issues with his way of pursuing a girl. How about this, you can tell President Sinclair that if he’s really inexperienced, he can ask me for advice, and I’ll give him some tips."

Considering Charles’s overly rich romantic experience, Assistant Collins shook his head, "But I think President Sinclair trusts your work prowess more."

...

"Good day, Mrs. Sinclair, painting, I see. The sun is quite strong today. Perhaps you’d prefer the study, spending too long in the garden might cause sunburn."

Carrying a large bundle of documents, Assistant Collins greeted Summer Lowell with a cheerful grin.

Summer didn’t speak, giving him a glance, unable to suppress her curiosity: "That many files?"

"Yes, ma’am, you know President Sinclair is always very busy, even more so nowadays."
