Chapter 22 - Who is he?

{Few hours back}

"I'm sorry, sir, but buying out the entire hotel for the night isn't possible... A few guests have already checked in," the receptionist told Caleb as he made his request.

"Hmm." Caleb pinched the bridge of his nose.

"And to make that happen, you'll need to speak with the manager," she added.

"Where can I meet the man—"

Caleb was still mid-sentence when a man in a leather brown suit walked into the lobby.

He carried himself with the kind of confidence that instantly turned heads.

His beard was neatly trimmed, his sharp chin complementing his features.

Sleek black hair swept to one side, and his bright brown eyes were sharp—always carrying a mischievous glint.

He had a phone pressed to his ear, clearly on a serious call.

The call seemed so important, he ignored the staff who greeted him as he entered.

"Good day, Sir Martin!" each attendant said with a small bow as he passed.

But his focus remained on the call, his brows furrowed.

"This is supposed to be a cooperative business... I know the sum is large, but think about the outcome. If it succeeds, we'll earn much more than we invested."

Martin was clearly irritated, raising his voice and tuning out everyone else in the room.

His partners just didn't grasp the potential of this investment!

"Sorry, Martin, but this isn't something we can assist with... Coming up with $3 million immediately—we still have our businesses to run. We can't help, unfortunately."

Martin clenched his phone.

A slight crack stretched across the screen.

"Alright then, thanks so much for your cooperation," he said with a strained smile. Ending the call, he let out a deep breath.

He couldn't let setbacks get to him—and he definitely couldn't alienate his backers over one rejection.

"They're stubborn, but they'll still have key roles to play... I can't push them away."

That thought alone kept him from lashing out at those stubborn old men.

Building a mega hall in the city was a brilliant plan that could bring in massive revenue!

If only they could see the vision.

Caleb, who had heard everything, stood quietly nearby.

"That guy's clearly not in the mood," he thought, observing Martin.

Approaching now could mean instant rejection of the reservation request.

"..."

"What's the plan now?" Naya asked with a teasing tone. "How do you plan to get the reservation? Would be a shame if you talk big and still can't pull it off... Hmph." She scoffed, a mocking smile tugging at her lips.

Caleb chuckled at her jab.

"You really want to see what I can do, huh?"

"Of course. I want to see you handle it without any help from me," Naya replied with a shrug.

They'd made a deal earlier—Caleb insisted he'd secure the reservation on his own.

He gave his reasons, though Naya hadn't fully agreed.

Hence her attitude.

"The system did say I needed to make an investment... This sounds like a perfect opportunity," Caleb thought, a confident smile rising.

He approached Martin.

"Good day..." Caleb said calmly.

Martin's smile faded. He wasn't in the mood for conversation after what had just happened.

"I'm sorry, I'm in quite a hurry... The receptionist can assist you," Martin said, already heading for the exit.

Caleb's voice stopped him.

"I've already spoken to her. She said I should speak with you."

Martin paused, sending a sharp glare at the receptionist, who swallowed nervously under the pressure.

"So what's the issue?" he asked. They wouldn't direct someone to him for no reason.

"My friend and I would like to reserve the entire hotel for the night. Think of it as a private experience for just the two of us."

Martin's eyes drifted toward Naya, his brows lifting slightly in surprise.

She was certainly worth a second look.

Still, his hotel had hosted more high-profile guests before.

The real question—who was the man making the request?

"Unfortunately, I apologize," he said, eyes lingering on Naya while ignoring Caleb entirely.

To him, Caleb looked more like a staffer or assistant.

He might be wealthy, but there was no visible indication.

Naya's presence alone carried more weight, so Martin assumed the request came from her.

"We have a few rooms booked already, so we can't—"

"Is that so? Then let me ask... If I invested in your project, what are the chances of it happening?"

Martin's eyes flickered, intrigued.

"This is a $3 million investment... I doubt Miss Naya would be interested in something of that scale... So if you'll excuse—"

"And who said it was Naya making the offer?"

Martin froze, curiosity rising.

Even Naya's jaw dropped.

Her entire net worth was only two million!

How did Caleb have access to three?!

"Does his father actually allow him to spend so much within a short span?"

Naya couldn't believe it. Even when she found out his true identity as the last son of Jin Monrrow, she never thought that he would spend such an amount without his father's consent.

"Where is he getting all his money?" She hadn't thought much about it before... But now, she couldn't ignore him completely.

"Just who is this man?" Martin racked his brain for a familiar face.

Nothing came to mind.

"If he's in the company of Naya Lucy, then he's definitely not just anybody... Maybe a hidden billionaire?"

There were several thoughts going through his mind...

But this was an opportunity—he didn't think on it for too long.

"If you can make the investment, I'll bring you on as a shareholder in the hotel," Martin said. "And yes, I'll arrange for the full reservation."

Martin didn't care who he was anymore.

He could get that information later... Business came first.

Martin's eyes flashed with a mischievous glint.

His merchant senses were reacting.

"I don't know who he is, but I see a good businessman."

Others saw a stranger asking for a room.

He saw a walking fortune.

Screw his identity.

If Caleb could bring his plans to life, Martin wasn't letting that go.
