Clinging to Devoted Fiancé, Heiress Slays the World!-Chapter 727 There is Nothing Wrong with Liking Someone
Jin Qichuan’s face showed a hint of disappointment as he withdrew the roses. He didn’t forcefully hand them to Ji Wei.
The atmosphere between them abruptly fell into a deadlock.
Finally, it was Ji Xian who broke the silence: "Oh, Mr. Jin, don’t you have work today?"
"My work is quite flexible. It doesn’t matter if I don’t go to the company," Jin Qichuan responded.
Ji Wei nodded but suddenly found herself at a loss for words.
Both of them silently walked into the living room.
Seeing Jin Qichuan holding a large bouquet of roses, Aunt Zhu instinctively reached out, took them, and arranged them in the vase on the cabinet.
Ji Wei initially wanted to stop Aunt Zhu, but it was already too late.
"Mr. Jin, please have a seat," Aunt Zhu said as she poured him a cup of tea.
Jin Qichuan politely nodded toward Aunt Zhu and sat down on the sofa.
Watching Aunt Zhu leave for the kitchen, Ji Wei spoke apologetically, "I’m sorry, Aunt Zhu probably misunderstood just now... the roses—"
Before she could finish her sentence, Jin Qichuan interrupted indifferently, "If you don’t want them, just throw them away. I never meant to take them back once I bought them."
Ji Wei: "..."
Pressing her lips together, Ji Wei decided she had to make things clear.
"Mr. Jin, with your qualities, you must have plenty of girls who like you, don’t you? What kind of type do you prefer? If you don’t mind, I could introduce someone..."
"Ji Wei," Jin Qichuan suddenly cut her off. His gaze was fixed on her, his expression serious. "I know it’s impossible between you and me. But feelings are a personal matter. I still want to stay true to myself and love the person I choose to love, even if it ends without any resolution."
Ji Wei looked at the solemn expression on Jin Qichuan’s face and found herself momentarily at a loss for words.
Indeed, what right did she have to stop him from liking someone?
Even if that "someone" was herself, there was no wrong in liking someone.
Ji Wei lowered her lashes in silence, while Jin Qichuan quietly drank his tea. The living room instantly became enveloped in a cold atmosphere.
Happy scampered along to her feet, cheerfully circling around. When Ji Wei ignored the dog, it began tugging at her pant leg.
Ji Wei, caught between laughter and frustration, was exasperated by the mischievous husky.
The clueless dog—couldn’t it sense how awkward the atmosphere was right now? And yet it was still causing trouble!
"Do you like pets a lot?" Jin Qichuan’s gentle voice broke the silence again.
Ji Wei abruptly raised her head to see the man’s expression return to a calm warmth, making her feel relieved.
"Yes, it feels more lively with cats and dogs at home," she replied. "What about you?"
She asked casually, but Jin Qichuan’s answer was unexpectedly earnest: "I have a Labrador at home. It’s been with me for five years now, and we’re deeply attached."
That Jin Qichuan also kept a dog wasn’t something Ji Wei found surprising.
Someone as gentle as him would naturally suit a loyal and mild Labrador.
Talking about pets finally lightened the mood. But just at that moment, another figure appeared at the living room door.
Chen Ke stepped into the entryway, ready to change his shoes. As he looked up, he saw Ji Wei and Jin Qichuan seemingly engaged in a pleasant conversation.
His expression froze for a brief moment. Upon catching Ji Wei’s surprised glance, he quickly offered an explanation with a smile, "Mr. Gu asked me to pick up a document."
"Is it in the study?" Ji Wei asked as she stood up.
"Yes. Madam, please continue hosting your guest. I’ll go and retrieve it myself," Chen Ke replied with a nod before heading toward the study.
A few minutes later, he emerged with the document, bid farewell to Ji Wei, and left.
Sitting in his car, Chen Ke hesitated for a moment before dialing Gu Moqian’s number. "Mr. Gu, I have the document and will deliver it to you shortly. There’s also something else; I’m unsure if I should mention it..."
