Clinging to Devoted Fiancé, Heiress Slays the World!-Chapter 726: Rose, I Don’t Know If You Like It
After finishing breakfast, Gu Moqian went to the company. The reason he dressed so formally was that he had been taking care of Ji Wei lately, and today was the first day he decided to work at the Gu Family’s office.
Afterward, at Aunt Zhu’s suggestion, Ji Wei decided to take a walk in the garden. While she wasn’t allowed to leave the estate, staying cooped up in her room didn’t seem to help her recovery either.
Ji Wei walked rather slowly, given that she was just recovering from a serious illness.
The nanny, Xiao Xi, held An An and followed along with them. The few of them strolled together, chatting and laughing. The morning sunlight was neither too warm nor too cold, and the air was fresh and crisp. Ji Wei seemed to be in good spirits.
As they were walking, a servant suddenly came over to report, "Madam, there’s a guest at the gate. But the security guards have refused to let them in."
Ji Wei appeared surprised, "Why?"
"Because the guest is... Mr. Jin," the servant answered.
Gu Moqian had previously issued a strict order forbidding Jin Qichuan from entering Shanshui Manor, which explained why the guards were blocking him.
"Let me go have a look," Ji Wei said firmly.
The servant quickly followed her as she headed toward the main gate.
From a distance, Ji Wei could already see Jin Qichuan clad in a white suit, standing tall and poised outside the intricately carved iron gate. Beside him, two security guards were incessantly urging him to leave, but Jin Qichuan remained completely unmoved.
The guards were visibly flustered, beads of sweat forming on their foreheads, at a loss for what to do.
As that familiar figure came closer, a subtle trace of joy flickered in Jin Qichuan’s gentle eyes.
After learning that Ji Wei had returned to Shanshui Manor to recover, he had been looking for an opportunity to visit her. But he knew very well that Gu Moqian would never allow him inside.
Thus, after confirming that Gu Moqian had left for the office, he took his chance to come by.
Ji Wei stopped in front of the carved iron gate with an astonished look on her face and said, "Mr. Jin, why are you here?"
"I came to check on you. How’s your health? Judging by your complexion, it seems like you’re almost fully recovered, isn’t that right?"
The two of them talked back and forth across the iron gate.
The two guards behind them exchanged glances but dared not interrupt their conversation.
Ji Wei also realized that speaking to someone through an iron gate was rather impolite.
After all, Jin Qichuan had come out of goodwill to show his concern for her. Both reason and etiquette dictated that she ought to invite him inside for a proper visit.
So Ji Wei instructed the guards beside her, "Open the gate and let Mr. Jin in."
The guards hesitated and showed conflicted expressions, saying, "But Mr. Gu ordered us... not to let him enter the estate."
Ji Wei frowned slightly upon hearing this. Wasn’t she the mistress of the house?
Did she not even have the authority to let someone in?
"Very well," Ji Wei’s gaze suddenly turned cold, and with a hint of annoyance, she said, "If you won’t let him in, surely there’s nothing wrong with me going out, is there?"
With that, she turned and started walking toward the nearby side gate.
The guards were well aware that Ji Wei was still recovering from her illness. If she went out and caught a cold or encountered any problem, Mr. Gu would surely hold them accountable.
"Madam! Please, you don’t need to go out. We’ll open the gate for Mr. Jin!"
The guards quickly relented, then moved forward to unlock the main entrance.
Jin Qichuan’s car was parked nearby. He walked over, got into the driver’s seat, and slowly drove into the estate.
After parking in the designated spot, Jin Qichuan stepped out of the car, closed the door, and briskly returned toward where Ji Wei stood.
Seeing Jin Qichuan walking toward her, Ji Wei was momentarily stunned.
The man was holding a bouquet of pink roses in his hands, his face adorned with a warm smile as he approached her.
"I impulsively bought these roses; I’m not sure if you’ll like them." He handed the flowers to her, his gaze hiding traces of fiery emotion.
Ji Wei froze for a moment and then quickly waved her hands, saying, "Your visit alone is more than enough; there’s no need for gifts..."
