Clinging to Devoted Fiancé, Heiress Slays the World!-Chapter 723: Embrace and Sleep Together
Back in the bedroom, Ji Wei was already asleep.
Mo Qian slowed his steps and walked toward the bed, stopping to quietly observe the woman’s sleeping face. Ji Wei’s breathing was soft and light, her long eyelashes still trembling faintly, and her complexion looked less pale than before.
It seemed as though he could never look at her enough, unwilling to avert his gaze. After a long moment, Mo Qian suddenly remembered something and glanced toward the dressing table.
There was only a pen on the surface; the divorce agreement was nowhere to be seen.
Mo Qian’s gaze became slightly more intent. He walked over and pulled open the drawer.
Sure enough, the divorce agreement was inside.
He reached out to pick up the agreement and, under the faint glow from the lamp, his long, well-defined fingers flipped through the document. His eyes finally landed on the signature box—the "Ji" character was written neatly and elegantly.
If not for An An’s cries interrupting them earlier, Ji Wei might have already signed the agreement.
Mo Qian’s deep eyes betrayed no emotion as he stared at that character for a long time. Slowly, his fingers tightened on the document, creasing its edges.
He paused for a few seconds before striding abruptly into the bathroom.
Soon, the sound of the toilet flushing came from inside.
When Mo Qian came out again, the document was gone. His expression seemed noticeably more relaxed as he walked back to the bed, reached out, and began unbuttoning his sleepwear one by one. Then, he lifted the blanket from the other side and lay down.
Ji Wei, still in a sleepy haze, suddenly felt the warmth of bare skin pressing close to her. She didn’t wake up but frowned slightly with her eyes still shut.
Mo Qian moved gently, slipping his arm past the woman’s waist and pulling her entire body into his embrace.
He lowered his head and kissed her soft hair with his thin lips, murmuring, "I’m sorry. I’ve changed my mind. I can’t bear to let you go, can’t bear to have you leave my side."
"Mmm..."
Ji Wei muttered something unintelligible, her head instinctively leaning onto his firm chest.
The man’s embrace was solid and warm, making Ji Wei feel secure and content. A faint smile unknowingly curled at the edge of her lips.
She hadn’t slept so soundly in quite a long time.
Mo Qian greedily inhaled the unique scent of the woman, his arm subtly tightening to hold her closer. But mindful of the injuries on her body, he dared not apply too much force.
The woman’s thin silk nightgown clung to his heated chest, her breath falling against his exposed skin, stirring his vulnerable nerves.
Somewhere, a reaction stirred quietly...
Mo Qian suppressed the burning heat rising rapidly in his lower abdomen and slowly closed his eyes.
...
The next morning.
When Ji Wei opened her eyes, the first thing she saw was the man’s fair and firm chest.
This... What is going on?
Her mind went blank for several seconds, unable to process what was happening.
She had assumed Mo Qian had gone to the study last night and would sleep in the guestroom, just as he had been doing these past few days. Unexpectedly, he had shared the bed with her, holding her so intimately in his arms!
It had been months since she had fallen asleep like this with him, and Ji Wei felt a sense of disbelief.
She immediately reached out to pinch her own cheek—painful!
That confirmed that this wasn’t her imagination; everything was true.
She tried to move away a little from the man’s arms, but Mo Qian’s arm—seemingly not exerting much force—held her like an iron band, rendering her unable to move.
The sky outside the window was bright, accompanied by cheerful bird calls. Sunlight spilled into the room through the snow-white curtains.
Ji Wei made an effort to maintain her position lying flat, staring up at the ceiling.
Mo Qian had actually been awake since she pinched herself.
He covertly lifted his eyelids to watch the woman. Seeing her lying there quietly and giving up on resisting, a faint smile rose in his deep gaze.
"Good morning, Mrs. Gu," he said.
