Chapter 369: Envious

After Lin Xuan Qi finished his breakfast, he headed for the retail shop with the contracts for the new workers.

They were already there waiting for him when he arrived.

"Good morning, Master Lin." Ru Hua and the others greeted him after he entered the retail shop. 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝓮𝒘𝙚𝙗𝒏𝙤𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝒐𝙢

He nodded his head at them and took out the contracts he had with him.

"Read through these and if you agree to the terms, put your thumb print over here."

They took a copy of the contract and read through it.

All of them were satisfied with the terms inside it, which was what he had promised earlier.

They put their thumb prints onto their contracts and handed them over to Lin Xuan Qi.

When Lin Xuan Qi took the contracts over from them, a familiar sound erupted in his mind and words appeared in it.

[Congratulations to host for recruiting five retail shop attendants to the mansion.]

[Additional 60KG of rice will be delivered to the mansion daily.]

[Keep up the good work and recruit more personnel.]

There were six of them and so there were sixty more kilograms of rice to be delivered daily.

Lin Xuan Qi had a hundred and seventy personnel under him by now and it would increase even more when he got back to Hong Feng City.

His Lin Clan was growing steadily and successfully.

With everything in order, Lin Xuan Qi glanced at Ru Hua and the others and said, "Let’s start the training."

He handed them the training materials he had used for the retail shop workers in Hong Feng City.

It was tried and tested so he was confident that it would work with the new workers.

Lin Xuan Qi went through all the lessons with them, and they even had simulated scenarios on how to react with different types of customers.

Things were more tricky here in Bian Jing in terms of the priority of the customers.

There were different priorities for the different clans, families, and imperial officials.

Fortunately for Lin Xuan Qi, Ru Hua and the others, having lived in Bian Jing all their lives, were much more knowledgeable about the hierarchy of the different clans, families, and imperial officials.

"Great. What I need you to do for the time being is to change the layout of the shop according to my plan."

When he was done with the training, Lin Xuan Qi took out a floor plan and instructed Ru Hua on how he wanted the layout and décor of the new shop to be.

It was the only thing they could do while waiting for the first batch of soap to arrive from Hong Feng City.

"I will get it done before the soap arrives, Master Lin." Ru Hua took note of his instructions and nodded her head at him.

"That is all I have for you today." Lin Xuan Qi said and dismissed them before he headed back to the new house.

It was lunch time, and he had lunch with Yue Xin and Liu Shi Shi.

After which, he brought them out for a stroll along the streets of Bian Jing.

"Look, Master Lin." Yue Xin pointed at a meat bun stall and said, "I wonder if the meat buns would be as good as Luo Bao’s."

"You can find out if you want to." Lin Xuan Qi said and glanced over to the store owner, "Give me three meat buns."

"Three meat buns coming right up." The stall owner opened the bamboo steamer and took out three meat buns for him.

The meat buns were put into separate oil-layered paper and the stall owner handed the meat buns over to Lin Xuan Qi.

"That will be six copper coins."

"Here you go." Lin Xuan Qi paid for the buns and handed two of the meat buns to Yue Xin and Liu Shi Shi.

"It’s more expensive here." Yue Xin exclaimed while she glanced at the meat bun she had in her hand.

She took a bite out of it and frowned.

"It’s no good?" Lin Xuan Qi asked when he saw her expression.

"I think Luo Bao’s meat buns taste better." Yue Xin said and munched on what she had in her mouth.

Lin Xuan Qi shook his head at her and said, "Sometimes we are nostalgic and think that what we had was better, but it might not be the case.

"It might just be that we are the ones who have changed."

Yue Xin nodded her head at him.

Things were certainly different from the time when she first met him.

Even her sister was married to him now.

And soon, it would be her turn...

They went on to try out different food from all the food stalls.

Yue Xin also bought some hairpins and bracelets for Xue Cong and Yue Jie as gifts.

Liu Shi Shi bought a wine gourd for Lee He Song.

And Lin Xuan Qi took the opportunity to buy some gifts for Xue Cong, Yue Jie, Old Shao, Mei Jiao and Ah Di.

He also remembered to buy some story books for Zhi Yong.

After they were done with the shopping, they chanced upon a street that was crowded with young men and women.

The street had many trees planted by the side and when their autumn red leaves floated down from the branches, it was a sight to behold.

Young men walked side by side with the young women they liked along the street while they marveled at the scenery.

This must have been a popular spot for lovers, Lin Xuan Qi thought.

He stretched out his hands and held onto Yue Xin’s and Liu Shi Shi’s hands and walked down the street with them.

Much to the envy of the other young men when they saw him walk past with two women by his sides.

They might be even more envious if they found out that he had his wife and concubine back at home.

Liu Shi Shi lifted her head, marveled at the leaves dancing down from above as the cool breeze blew, and gave out a sigh.

Everything was perfect but it could be better.

She glanced over at him and said, "Don’t you think this scenery is worthy of a poem?"

Lin Xuan Qi frowned at her request, thought about it for a moment, and cleared his throat.
