Zombie Apocalypse: Creation-Chapter 811: Tianci and Ziling
Neither of the nurses nor Xiaoyun noticed the change, but Leyan could clearly see Tianci’s pupil turning golden.
"Tianci, are you okay?" Leyan asked, her tone suddenly becoming much softer than earlier.
"I’m fine——Mhm!"
Hearing the change in Tianci’s voice, Xiaoyun took a look at her face. It almost caused a whole disaster as the entrance closed a little.
"Xiaoyun! What are you doing?" Leyan questioned.
"Sorry!"
"Ow!"
"Tianci, hold on, okay? We can do this. You’re already making a lot of progress. The gap is already widening."
"Really?"
"Mhm, just keep pushing it."
Despite Leyan’s words of encouragement, Xiaoyun could see the complete opposite story with his eyes.
There was barely any change, other than the manual hole he had made with his finger as it continued to clamp towards closure.
"Oh, I can almost see the baby’s head. Keep pushing!"
"I’m really trying!——Mm!"
As Tianci let out a grunt, a bunch of gunk suddenly started coming out from the other hole below Xiaoyun’s finger.
Fortunately, the two nurses were quick to grab a nearby bag for this exact situation. However, it was giving the closest person a headache.
"Ugh..."
---
After a whole hour of brutal work for everyone involved, Leyan was finally able to hand Tianci a crying baby.
"It’s finally over," Xiaoyun murmured as he collapsed onto the medical table right next to him.
"Congratulations, Tianci, you’re a mother now!" Leyan whispered as the two nurses started cleaning up the mess.
"Thank you..."
"Xiaoyun, you okay?"
"I’m fine."
As he looked over to Tianci holding a baby, he held a smile on his face as he slowly walked over to the bedside.
"This is the most work I have put into a baby——Ouch!"
"Hey, don’t say that kind of stuff... Tianci, what are you planning to name your baby?" Leyan questioned, moving her knuckle back down.
"Chen Ziling. Zi as in purple, and Ling as in clever... Do you think it is a good name?"
"I think that’s a pretty good name. Much better than what I had... Should have asked my mom why she thought bird was a good idea."
Tianci couldn’t hear Leyan’s quiet murmuring as all her attention was on the baby in her arms.
"Ahem, we should probably move Tianci out of this emergency room now." Xiaoyun pointed out.
"Right. You two, if I hear any of the details of what happened today leaked out, neither of you will see the light of day."
"You won’t hear a single word out of our lips, madam!"
Leyan turned around again to look at Xiaoyun, only to find him staring at Tianci holding the baby at a distance.
"Hey Xiaoyun, can you remind those doctors to keep things private? They’re probably in the break room right now."
"On it."
With Xiaoyun out of the room, Leyan quickly ordered the two nurses to wheel Tianci out to a normal delivery room as she looked over to a nearby bucket.
"Why doesn’t this match the result of the placenta test a few weeks ago...?"
---
When the next day arrived, Tianci was able to safely go back home with her newborn baby in her arms.
Everyone in Xiaoyun’s household was constantly taking turns hugging Ziling, including Xiaoyun, who had spent the past few days in the house.
He didn’t even show up for the scheduled meeting, opting to let Yuqi deal with it as he spent most of his waking hours with Ziling.
The sharp contrast was starting to cause jealousy to brew. His other kids began occasionally crying to draw his attention away.
Only when all of his wives stepped in did Xiaoyun realize he had spent too much time with Tianci and his newborn daughter.
"Hey Leyan, can you take care of Ziling for me?"
Tianci suddenly asked, sitting on the sofa with Ziling peacefully sleeping in her arms as the early morning sun shone through the window.
"Sure."
After Tianci transferred Ziling over to Leyan’s arm, Leyan could notice the exhaustion on Tianci’s face up close.
"Tianci, you okay?"
"I’m fine... Hey Leyan, do you know where Xiaoyun is right now?"
"He’s over in the baby’s room taking care of Bingbing and Wenwen right now... Tianci, you don’t have to wake up so early today."
"I already slept for eight hours last night. I’m fine," Tianci answered as she slowly leaned down onto the sofa.
"Nothing wrong with sleeping more... I can feed Ziling when she wakes up. I doubt she would mind it."
Tianci only shook her head in response, closing her eyes as she let out a quiet groan as if her muscles had gone through a tough workout.
"Morning."
"Morning."
As Yuqi came down the stairs in her work suit, she was a little surprised to see the two of them sitting on the sofa at seven o’clock.
"Why are you two up so early today?"
"Ziling suddenly woke up a few minutes earlier. Why are you up so early today?" Leyan questioned back.
"Got a meeting later... Mom, can you feed Lianrong today? I can’t stay until she wakes up. I have to go to the office early—"
"I got it. You can go to your work. Breakfast is already in the kitchen, just heat it in the microwave."
"Thanks!"
As Yuqi left the living room, Tianci suddenly sat up with her eyes wide open, looking over to Leyan with hints of excitement.
"Hey, Leyan."
"What?"
"Can you take care of my baby? I—"
"You’re not handing your newborn daughter this early and going to work. Not in a million years is that happening."
Leyan instantly shuts down Tianci’s attempt, not even letting her finish her sentence, as Tianci lies back down with disappointment.
"Fine..."
"Tianci, I told you this multiple times. If you hand me your daughter like this, she’s not even going to recognize you as her mother."
"Yeah, yeah, I know... It just feels weird that I haven’t been to the lab for the past two weeks."
"You’re not leaving for a month or two. We have explicit rules in this house that everyone in the family has followed."
"I know."
As Tianci repeated the same answer and closed her eyes, Leyan could notice the clear irritation in her voice.
"You can ask your workers to deliver paperwork to the house if you really want to do something."
"You serious?" Tianci immediately, her voice filled with excitement again as she sat back up.
"Mhm. But no experiment or actual work in the house. Just paper reports for whatever lab stuff you’re doing."
"Thank you!"
With Leyan’s compromise, the exhaustion on Tianci’s face finally disappeared as she started to text nonstop on her phone.
"Mm..."
"Hm? Ziling, you awake?" Leyan softly asked as the newborn baby made a quiet grumble sound.
"Leyan! All of the babies are hungry! I can’t do anything!" Xiaoyun yelled as his loud voice traveled from the hallway to the living room.
"Coming! Tianci, can you hold Ziling?"
"No problem."
As Tianci accepted Ziling back into her arms, her newborn daughter had slightly opened her eyes.
"Ziling, you hungry? Mommy can feed you right now." Tianci quietly whispered in a happy mood.
"M-Ma-Mama!"
---
October soon came to an end.
Tianci was able to work from home as Leyan had promised. Although it wasn’t exactly what she wanted, it was still far better than sitting idly by with her baby.
Meanwhile, Xiaoyun was forced back to work, rather than be a stay-at-home dad and spend time with Tianci and the babies.
What was originally a casual, normal cabinet meeting led by Yuqi turned out to be a much more important meeting than anyone had expected.
It was so important that Yuqi continued the meeting the next day, with Xiaoyun forced to come along with her to the meeting room.
"A medicine shortage?"
As Xiaoyun read the report out loud, he was a little surprised to see an issue that had never arisen before.
"Yes, all of the hospitals are running low on stockpiles. And all the places we brought from salvage groups had either run out or had passed their expiration date."
The concern raised by the minister of health made the room fall into silence, as Xiaoyun just sat there in silence.
"Yesterday, you said your department was in the process of coming up with an idea. What have you guys come up with so far?" Yuqi questioned.
"We plan to re-establish a pharmaceutical industry from scratch. It’s the only solution that can be sustainable in the long term.
For now, we already have a small-scale lab with expertise and the equipment for it. The only issue is the funding that..."
The minister of health fell into silence, his words stuck inside his throat as if the number was something she couldn’t say.
"How much is it?" Xiaoyun questioned.
"It’s at least 500 billion NCR if we were to meet the current demand—"
"500 billion! That’s even more of the military’s budget. Where did you come up with this ludicurious number?"
