Chapter 360: The Chase

"And don’t be a busybody, old man. You should know what we are capable of." Seng said and left the stall, chasing after Lin Xuan Qi.

The old man shook his head as he watched Seng go away.

He had tried to warn Seng and he didn’t want to get too involved in such matters.

Seng must have thought that Lin Xuan Qi wasn’t a cultivator and wanted to rob whatever Lin Xuan Qi had.

It was how Seng and the other rogue cultivators survived, and the same thing of them robbing poor cultivators of their property was a daily occurrence in Wan Shou Fang.

They would pick victims who weren’t with any clans or sects so that the clans, sects, and authorities wouldn’t be bothered with them.

Such was their way of life.

The old man sighed and took out another broken artifact, placing it in the space where the toad statue had been.

...

Lin Xuan Qi waded through the crowds at Wan Shou Fang as he headed back towards the new house.

However, he stopped for a moment, pretending to look at the merchandise on sale, when he sensed that someone was following behind him.

While he did so, the person stopped a distance away.

Lin Xuan Qi could see that the person was dressed in plain clothes like he was, and figured that the person was a rogue cultivator.

He either had to make the person lose track of him or he would have to take him on.

Not knowing the cultivation level of the person following him, Lin Xuan Qi felt that it was safer to try and get away.

And if he couldn’t do so successfully, as long as he could get to the new house, he would be safe once he was back inside the compound.

Lin Xuan Qi stopped browsing the merchandise and continued his way out of Wan Shou Fang.

He tried to get mixed in with the crowd and make the person lose sight of him.

But it was tough to do so.

The other cultivators tried to move away from him when he did so, thinking that Lin Xuan Qi was trying to steal from them.

When this failed, Lin Xuan Qi began to quicken his pace.

He directed his Five-Element Qi to his legs and with every step, he became faster and faster.

The person, Seng, who was following closely behind, smirked and licked his lower lip when he saw him try to get away.

It made Seng eager to start his hunt and go in for the kill.

"What the hell..." But after chasing for some distance, Seng was surprised.

Lin Xuan Qi’s pace was much faster than he had expected.

Seng could see that Lin Xuan Qi’s figure was slipping away quickly.

He gritted his teeth and used his Spirit Qi to try and catch up to Lin Xuan Qi.

The prey was too close for him to lose, Seng thought as he started to give chase.

Both of them meandered through the streets of Wan Shou Fang with the distance between them growing further apart.

When Lin Xuan Qi was out of Wan Shou Fang, he took a quick glance and saw that Seng was now at least fifty meters away.

But he knew that he couldn’t stop or slow down.

If he did either of those, the man following closely behind would catch up to him.

With the streets being much emptier, Lin Xuan Qi began to divert more of his Five-Element Qi to his legs and gave all he had to try and break away.

It worked.

His body gave off a glow, and he turned into a shimmer.

Lin Xuan Qi was quickly zooming along the streets in the next moment.

Seng, who had already been going as fast as he could, helplessly watched him get further away.

Seeing that it was futile for him to do anything at that moment, he decided to stop his chase.

"What the hell..."

He cursed out loud and he panted with his hands on his hips, as he watched the disappearing figure of Lin Xuan Qi.

Lin Xuan Qi didn’t know how long it took but he kept going until the new house came into sight, only then did he stop.

When he glanced around and saw that there was no one behind him, he let out a sigh of relief.

The world of cultivation was very dangerous indeed.

Lin Xuan Qi didn’t expect it to happen in the Capital City, but here he was.

He shuddered to think that if such a thing could happen in the Capital City, what would other places be like?

Lin Xuan Qi’s cultivation level at Qi Concentration Level in the Mid Stage was pretty common.

And after this experience, he thought that he had better make sure his cultivation level had ascended to the next level before he did something like this again.

Better to be safe than sorry as he had a whole clan depending on him.

But even so, it had been worth the risk for now.

Lin Xuan Qi patted the toad statue that he had kept in his chest.

With it, he could now keep valuable items with him and move them around much more easily in the future.

Which was something he had long desired.

Lin Xuan Qi stood outside the walls of the new house and waited.

When he sensed that no guards were around, he quickly leaped into the air again.

And this time, it was a perfect jump.

His leap was just enough to get over the wall and he landed back inside the compound of the new house.

In the distance, he saw that the room of Yue Xin and Liu Shi Shi was still lit.

Thankfully, neither of them was outside or looking for him.

He crept quietly towards his bedroom and opened the door quietly.

After which, he quickly got inside and closed the door behind him.

The first thing that Lin Xuan Qi did was walk over to the corner of his room, where the wooden chests with the taels of silver were kept.

He took out the toad statue and squatted down beside the wooden chest.

The red glow appeared from the toad statue after he injected his Five-Element Qi into it, and he pressed the toad statue against the wooden chest.

Whoosh.

Miraculously, the wooden chest disappeared from where it was.

And within Lin Xuan Qi’s mind, the space inside the toad statue now held the wooden chest.

"Finally!" he pumped his fist and exclaimed with excitement.
