Chapter 356: 356- updated*

Four days had passed since Fang Yuan had severely damaged the mountain.

And just a day ago, Zhao Lusi finally returned from her trip.

On returning, different from her expectations of her rather barren hill, what she found had been a severed hill.

As soon as she find out what had happened, she sought him out wearing a rather heartwarming and beautiful smile.

And then, when she got her hand on him, the last thing he remembered was her fingers pressing his sealed body and then waking up in a confined space.

Exactly one day had passed ever since, now, inside a tiny cell, Fang Yuan paced back and forth, the sound of his footsteps echoing endlessly.

"Stop walking around and sit still!" one of the neighboring prisoners shouted.

"Shut up!" Fang Yuan snapped back annoyed.

He wasn’t pacing out of boredom rather he was thinking of ways to solve his predicament.

Currently, he was facing two problems.

One of them was Zhao Lusi, who had personally thrown him into prison.

The other was his system debt of Faith Points.

Although, on hindsight, the second wasn’t really an issue.

He had a full year to repay it, and his clan generated a terrifying amount of faith daily.

At the current rate, it wouldn’t even take a month to earn the required faith points.

Which meant that his only real problem was Zhao Lusi...

’How do I appease to her? I severed the hill after all... Hmm wait... Why am I the one in the wrong? I nearly died! Since that’s the case I’ll make sure I squeeze every spirit stones out of her!’

Outside his cell, a prison guard watched confused as the new prisoner kept pacing around.

It was weird because his cell wasn’t locked nor his spiritual qi was sealed.

Even more so, it was the eccentric elder Zhao herself who threw this young man in.

That made him all the more curious about who the newcomer was.

The prison guard faked a yawn and glanced towards Fang Yuan.

"Hey, brother," he said lazily. "Are you sure you don’t want to go out? Elder Zhao Lusi didn’t even lock your cell."

Fang Yuan shot him a look.

"Are you trying to get me killed?" he said flatly.

"Staying here is safer than going out there."

The guard paused for a second and then, as if recalling something, he nodded solemnly.

"...Yeah. You’re right. If I were in your shoes, I’d rather stay in prison too."

"Finally," Fang Yuan exclaimed. "Someone who can understand me!"

The two soon started chatting away casually.

At some point, Fang Yuan had already stepped out of his cell and was leaning against the guard’s table, talking like an old acquaintance.

Servants came, delivered food, and left.

Later, they returned with tea, cleared the plates, and left again.

And just like that, two whole days passed.

When the guard’s shift ended, he waved goodbye.

"Take care, brother."

Fang Yuan nodded and walked back into his cell.

This, unfortunately, only irritated his cellmates further.

"We had to listen to you two spout nonsense for two whole days," someone yelled.

"And now you’re just mocking us by staying, get out if you’re not locked in!"

"Would it kill you to shut up?" Fang Yuan shot back.

"Yes!" the other party screamed.

Fang Yuan turned and finally noticed the source.

It was an old man, bound in heavy chains.

He stared at him for a moment, then sighed.

"Damn, Grandpa," Fang Yuan said.

"You’re yelling louder than a banshee on her last breath. No wonder Death’s ghosting you."

Meanwhile, at the Sect Leader’s Garden Pavilion, Zhao Lusi and Zhao Mei sat across from each other at a stone table.

A young girl stepped forward to pour tea.

"Thank you, little Xue’er," Zhao Mei said warmly.

The girl bowed and retreated.

Zhao Mei glanced at her sister.

"Sister," she said calmly, "why are you still so moody? Because of you, I don’t even want to introduce my disciple to you."

Zhao Lusi jolted awake.

"What else am I supposed to do?!" she shouted.

"You’re shielding the man who almost killed my first disciple! Do you know how hard it was to coerce—"

She stopped abruptly.

"...Ahem. Recruit him."

Zhao Mei sipped her tea, pretending she hadn’t heard that.

"Calm down," she said lightly.

"That beast was only at the Nascent Soul Realm. If Elder Hua truly wanted your disciple dead, he’d have sent something stronger."

She glanced sideways.

"And he wouldn’t be foolish enough to act while I’m managing the sect."

"Then who released that beast?!" Zhao Lusi fumed.

"And that stupid disciple of mine is still hiding in that cell!"

Zhao Mei set her cup down.

"Won’t you go get him out already?"

"Hah!" Zhao Lusi scoffed.

"I only threw him in there out of anger. I already unsealed his cultivation, and I didn’t even lock the cell."

She crossed her arms.

"If he wanted to leave and apologize, he would’ve done so by now."

Zhao Mei looked at her and took another sip of tea.

What a perfect pair of master and disciple duo, she thought.

She set the cup down again.

"That beast wandered into the area on its own," Zhao Mei said.

"I’m still investigating how my barrier was penetrated by a mere beast."

Zhao Lusi picked up her cup and nodded.

"Alright then," she said casually.

"So it was your fault."

She smiled sweetly.

"How many spirit stones are you compensating us? My disciple is scarred and traumatized."

Zhao Mei sighed before making her promise.

"I’ll prepare one hundred thousand spirit stones for your disciple."

"High-grade!" Zhao Lusi added instantly.

Zhao Mei stood up and smacked Zhao Lusi straight on the forehead.

"Are you trying to bankrupt the sect?! Low-grade!"

Zhao Lusi clutched her head, wobbling dramatically.

"...Mid-grade?" she said weakly.

Zhao Mei nodded.

"Mid-grade it is."

She pointed at her sister.

"But that’s for your disciple. You don’t get a single cut."

"Hah?" Zhao Lusi exclaimed already forgetting to clutch her head and play the victim.
