Clan Building System: I'm not the Protagonist?!-Chapter 355- Updated*
Hrmmh.
A hot, foul breath washed over Fang Yuan’s neck and his spine instantly went rigid.
He gulped and slowly turned around.
What greeted him was a towering beast.
The beast stood at least four times his height, its massive frame radiating raw pressure.
Its skin was a deep, brutal red, stretched tight over corded muscle.
A pair of curved tusks jutted from its maw, gleaming faintly. Its body resembled a wild leopard, but with arcs of thunder crackled across its hide, snapping and hissing like living lightning.
Before Fang Yuan could even say his greetings, the beast lunged forward.
BOOM!
Its jaws snapped shut where Fang Yuan had been standing a heartbeat earlier.
Despite his sealed cultivation, Fang Yuan’s body had moved on its own, barely slipping free of the killing bite.
But it had not been so fullproof as soon pain exploded through his left hand.. or due to the fact that it was missing.
He hit the ground hard, rolling across the dirt as blood sprayed.
His left hand had been snap away by the beast.
Fang Yuan grit his teeth hard fighting back the pain and to stop the blood.
Before the beast could press its advantage, another figure moved.
"—!"
Fu Ji Wei, who had been frozen in fear just moments earlier, surged forward with a cry.
Her saber flashed as she charged straight at the monster.
"Lightning Wolf Slash!"
A blinding arc of lightning tore through the air.
BOOM!
Her attack collided head-on with the beast, but the result was brutal.
She was thrown back like a broken leaf, her body spinning violently through the air.
Fang Yuan watched her get flung away and quickly started trying to devise a solution.
’if I act as the bait and she attack from behind, can we handle this beast?’
Just then he saw her twisting midair, used the momentum from being flung and vanished into the distance.
"You can do it, Brother Fang!" she even shouted before disappearing.
Fang Yuan stared after her, utterly flabbergasted.
"...Fair enough..," he muttered weakly.
Slowly, he turned back toward the beast.
The monster met his gaze.
Then, unhurriedly, it began to walk toward him.
Slowly it took it’s step watching Fang Yuan as if the beast was wary of him.
But that’s not it, this beast is clearly toying with me!
Fang Yuan felt frustrated at the thought of it.
If only my cultivation wasn’t sealed, he thought.
Just then, he heard a familiar voice inside his head, a distant memory of a young child and an old beggar who acted as if he knew everything that needed to be known.
’The secret to immortality? It’s to be detached of those you hold close and dear. My disciple, you will never be able to reach immortality with love, warmth of a family and friends. Do you still want to be an immortal?’
’Hah! That’s because the world hasn’t seen anyone like me yet! I’ll raise the Fang clan to be the strongest and reach immortal together!’
’Then, you must first prove yourself and not die and if you’re ever in a situation where you won’t survive, don’t give up.’
Fang Yuan clenched his jaw, blood soaking into the soil beneath him. He drew in a deep, steadying breath.
"...Alright, master," he said hoarsely.
"If today is the day, I’m going to die, then I’m going to die swinging."
Ding!
[Host life is in danger and spiritual qi access is currently unavailable.
Would you like to expend Faith Points as a substitute?]
Fang Yuan blinked.
"...Huh?"
Surprise flickered across his face and then vanished.
Why hoard wealth when you would die?
"Yes," he said and slammed the confirmation with his remaining hand.
[Ding!
–50,000 Faith Points have been consumed to bring host to his prime condition.]
Next, golden light erupted around Fang Yuan. Stardust spilled out of thin air, spiraling around his broken arm.
The severed limb reformed in real time, bone knitting with a crystalline hum, flesh weaving itself together in threads of golden radiance, veins pulsing back to life as if time itself had been rewound.
The pain vanished.
The light sank into his skin and faded, leaving not even a scar behind.
The beast froze mid-step.
Its thunder-crackling body stiffened, instincts screaming danger.
Fang Yuan slowly flexed his restored limb.
"...It healed?" he whispered.
Excitement surged through him as he felt he had actually gotten even stronger now.
His spiritual qi points were still sealed yet he felt he could easily manipulate the spiritual qi around and inside of him.
But this one, instead of it being white in colour it appeared golden in colour.
Fang Yuan was curious, but it wasn’t the right time, instantly wrapping his whole body with the golden spiritual qi, he kicked off the ground and charged forward.
The beast snarled and took a step back.
Then it roared and lunged as well.
"This is for my arm, haha!" Fang Yuan yelled excitedly, as he threw a punch.
BOOM—!
The impact detonated like a meteor strike and the beast was sent flying.
Its massive body smashed through invisible trees and stone alike before crashing into the mountainside.
Fang Yuan stood there, arm still extended.
He blinked.
"...Uh," he muttered.
"...What?"
That wasn’t what he’d expected either.
The beast roared again, fury ignited now, and charged once more.
Fang Yuan’s gaze flickered to the rows of seeds he had planted which was being overrun by the beast.
His expression tightened.
"...Tch."
Fang Yuan drew in a deep breath, then leapt into the air.
He then raised his right arm and gathered his qi in a single point.
"Heavenly Tyrant Sword—First Form: Divine Line."
He slashed it downwards as soon as it formed.
Golden light erupted, pure and blinding, carving a perfect, straight line through the sky as it fell toward the beast.
For a heartbeat, the world seemed to be held still.
The beast let out a low, terrified whimper and skidded to a halt. Panic flared in its eyes as it twisted, desperately trying to flee, but it was too late.
The golden line descended and split the beast cleanly in two without meeting any resistance.
Even the hill behind it got caught in the aftermath.
A silent chasm stretched outward, stone sheared as smoothly as silk, the earth itself bearing witness to the slash.
Fang Yuan hovered in the air, staring at the devastation below, confused and even impressed.
Is this... what the system is truly capable of?
A smile crept up his face, with this newfound power. If he handled it carefully..... perhaps.
His gaze flicked to the translucent screen before his eyes but that was the last thing he wanted to see.
[Faith Points: -320,000
