Clan Building System: I'm not the Protagonist?!-Chapter 357- Updated*
Not long after Fang Yuan had settled down, a group of cultivators entered the prison.
There was seven of them and mixed along with them was a rather familiar face to Fang Yuan as she was none other than Fu Ji Wei.
The moment Fang Yuan made eye contact, she turned her face away.
Fang Yuan ignored her and calmly shifted his gaze to the others.
Every cultivator behind her wore the same uniform, white robes trimmed with pale blue. Typically made strictly for inner disciples to wear.
Among them, only Fu Ji Wei stood apart as she wore an eye-catching flowing red robes.
Within the sect, disciples were divided based into three groups, the outer disciples, the inner disciples and the core disciples.
Furthermore, they were also given different robes to distinguish each one another.
Yellow robes belonged to outer disciples, the vast majority.
White and pale blue were for the inner disciples.
And red was for the core disciples, direct disciples of the elders.
From the look of it, Fu Ji Wei had chosen her master as wearing the core disciples robe without being one was a capital punishment within the sect.
Fu Ji Wei suddenly lifted her arm and pointed straight at him.
"He’s the one."
The group halted with confused gazes turned toward Fang Yuan and then immediately drifted to his attire.
Black and grey, plain and unremarkable.
It was nothing like the robes of an inner disciple, or any other type of disciples for that matter. 𝓯𝓻𝒆𝙚𝒘𝓮𝙗𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝒍.𝙘𝓸𝙢
Despite noticing the obvious glance at his rather plain robe, there was nothing Fang Yuan could do about it.
Zhao Lusi had explicitly told him that the robes issued by the examiner were for inner disciples only and since he was technically a core disciple, he wasn’t allowed to wear them.
As for his red robes?
Apparently, his master had already sold everything she owned for wine a few years back.
Considering how he was her only disciple right now, Fang Yuan could only wonder if she never really intended to take on a disciple.
I mean... First the elder seal and next the robe? How obsessed is she with wine.
One of the inner disciples finally stepped forward, hesitating.
"...Are you senior Fang Yuan?" he asked, clearly seeking confirmation.
"Yes," Fang Yuan replied calmly.
The disciple still looked doubtful and turned to Fu Ji Wei.
Fu Ji Wei clicked her tongue.
"Yes, it’s really him," she said annoyed.
"Are you doubting me right now?"
The inner disciple shivered and immediately bowed.
"N–No! Of course not!"
"I didn’t doubt you, Senior Sister—please forgive me!"
Fu Ji Wei gave a faint nod and looked away as her gaze shifted towards Fang Yuan.
At that moment, Fang Yuan stepped out of the cell and glanced calmly at the gathered disciples, as though the exchange hadn’t concerned him in the slightest.
"So," he asked casually, "why exactly are you all looking for me?"
The inner disciples immediately turned back toward Fu Ji Wei.
Her brow twitched.
"What are you all staring at me for?!" she snapped.
"Do what you were told!"
But we were told to follow you and bring Fang Yuan to the Sect Leader...
The thought of speaking out passed through their minds in unison yet none of them dared to voice it.
As offending a core disciple was a spectacularly bad idea, a one way ticket to hell.
They quickly turned back to Fang Yuan, cupped their fists, and bowed.
"Disciple Fang Yuan," one of them said respectfully, "We are here to escort you to the sect leader."
Fang Yuan nodded, then glanced sideways at Fu Ji Wei.
"So," he said lightly,
"did you finally shed your skin, you snake?"
Fu Ji Wei didn’t even blink.
"I knew you’d be capable of handling the beast at the nascent soul stage," she replied calmly.
Fang Yuan clicked his tongue.
"Tsk, tsk. At least something good came out of that," he said.
"Now I know exactly who I should never trust."
Fu Ji Wei’s lips twitched faintly but decided to remain silent.
The group soon arrived at the Sect Leader’s grounds.
The moment they reached the outer hall, two female inner disciples stepped forward, blocking the path.
"Only the person named Fang Yuan may enter," one of them said calmly.
"All other personnel, please return to your training."
Fu Ji Wei nodded and pointed lazily.
"This guy here," she said, "is Fang Yuan."
She gestured at him once and the two gatekeepers immediately turned their attention to Fang Yuan, their expressions shifting to polite formality.
Fu Ji Wei then looked back at the remaining disciples.
"Since the sect task is complete," she said briskly,"let’s head to the registry and cash it out."
Without waiting for a response, she turned and departed.
The two inner disciples cupped their fists toward Fang Yuan.
"Senior Brother Fang Yuan," one of them said.
"If you will please follow us."
They bowed slightly and stepped aside, extending their arms to clear the path.
Fang Yuan gave a small nod.
As Fu Ji Wei disappeared down the corridor, he turned and followed the two inner disciples into the inner halls, the doors closing softly behind him.
On reaching their destination, the inner disciples stopped and pushed the doors open.
"This is the furthest we can go, Senior brother. The sect leader is waiting inside," she said.
Fang Yuan gave her a nod and stepped inside. Just as soon as he did, the doors closed softly behind him.
There was absolute silence within the chamber after the slow thud of the door passed.
Fang Yuan gulped and looked ahead as he saw his master and her sister, the sect leader sitting together at a table quietly watching him.
He straightened himself and cupped his fists, offering a proper greeting.
"Disciple Fang Yuan greets the Sect Leader and my Master."
Zhao Lusi’s gaze lingered on him for a moment before shifting sideways to Zhao Mei.
Zhao Mei raised her hand and a spatial ring flew toward Fang Yuan, carried smoothly by her qi.
Fang Yuan caught it instinctively and then he heard Zhao Mei speak softly.
"We summoned you for two reasons. First, to hand you compensation for the recent attack within the sect."
Before she could continue further, Zhao Lusi cut in flatly.
"The second," she said, eyes fixed on Fang Yuan,
"is that the teleportation device to your world has been destroyed."
