Chubby Mommy: Scheming Daddy, Surrender Now!-Chapter 363: L’s Offensive
The crisp sound of a slap attracted the attention of passersby.
Ruby Sullivan glared with rage, trembling uncontrollably after delivering the slap.
This was her well-prepared script, but unexpectedly, after the slap landed, she didn’t feel satisfied; instead, she felt an urge to slap him again, and again, and again...
Dr. L touched his slapped cheek and crooked a mischievous smile, asking in Italian, "Satisfied?"
Ruby Sullivan glared fiercely at him, not wanting to say a word, and turned to leave, but was blocked by L’s shopping cart.
"How about finding a place to sit down?"
"I don’t want to see you."
"You won’t be able to avoid seeing me."
Ruby Sullivan pushed the cart forcefully into him to shake off his hand, then turned the cart away and walked past him.
L turned his head to watch her back, his eyes full of loneliness. "Wenny, you can’t escape from the palm of my hand."
Ruby Sullivan paused at his words, then came back and looked up at him, "Pah!" Then she walked away expressionlessly.
She could even give up the man she loved most. Now, no matter what L did, she didn’t care. She knew that she could never surpass L in this lifetime. After all, his achievements were built on the shoulders of previous generations, but she would despise him from the bottom of her heart for the rest of her life.
L had never been treated with such disdain, or even...insult, by a woman, but the more she acted this way, the more his heart itched. The more unattainable something was, the more he wanted it!
Ruby Sullivan left the supermarket with four large shopping bags full of groceries.
These were somewhat too much for her thin arms, but luckily she quickly hailed a taxi, allowing her to breathe a sigh of relief. However, she didn’t notice the luxurious gray Porsche 911 following behind the taxi.
The Porsche maintained a very appropriate distance all the way, and L in the car only turned around and left after watching her enter the building.
After entering the house, Ruby Sullivan began preparing the ingredients for a hot pot. For her, the best way to stop thinking about anything was to have a feast.
Before long, Sasha Shaw also got up from bed. Seeing Ruby preparing lunch in the kitchen, she couldn’t help but hug her from behind, yawning and teasingly saying, "Darling, just marry me. What do you need a man for, haha..." She laughed foolishly and pinched the soft flesh on Ruby Sullivan’s waist, thoroughly enjoying herself.
Ruby Sullivan thrust her hips to free herself from Sasha’s salty hands, "I’m fine with it, I’m just afraid someone won’t accept it."
Sasha’s face flushed, "They’re not interested in me."
"What about that doctor?" Ruby Sullivan was referring to Sean Quinn, the junior doctor introduced to Sasha at Nathaniel’s birthday party. She recalled Sasha mentioning him a few times afterward.
She didn’t want to discourage her best friend from pursuing her own love, but from her perspective as someone who had been through it, choosing a man who loves you the most is the best and most important choice, and as long as the woman has a little affection for him, she can live happily.
"Sean Quinn is actually quite nice. He likes old black-and-white movies, enjoys listening to vinyl records, loves both rock and classical music, and we resonate well on a spiritual level." Although he seemed like a good match, Sasha sighed, "It just lacks a bit of passion."
Ruby Sullivan knew she would say that and sighed along with her, choosing not to comment.
Sasha took a slice of chopped tomato from the cutting board and ate it, "Darling, am I being ungrateful?"
"It’s not that you’re ungrateful. You just yearn for love too much." Like any girl who hasn’t been devastated by love, she’s determined to give it a try no matter the risks.
"I’m an artist, of course, I yearn for it," Sasha said, winking.
The two girls laughed, and in this small space, it seemed they only had to worry about the upcoming hot pot meal and the romantic whims that only young girls have.
The hot pot was served, steaming and warm. A bite could warm both the stomach and the heart.
During the meal, they chatted about the situation with the physical store, and Ruby Sullivan remembered that Tobias Townsend hadn’t contacted her again. She wasn’t sure if Ethan’s prediction was reliable, but now The Sovereign couldn’t be considered, and working with Tyler Aldrin was out of the question. Ruby decided to have Howard look for a suitable independent store location on Monday; picking a nice area was a great choice too.
In the evening, Ruby Sullivan was video-calling with the two little ones, and Ethan Sterling moved aside to let them have some time alone with the kids.
Seth Sterling and Honey proudly reported on their father’s resting position that afternoon and assured their mom that she’d be fine on a business trip and that they’d take good care of their dad.
On Monday, Ruby Sullivan got up early to make breakfast. After the two of them finished eating, they cleaned up the dishes and were about to leave the building when they froze.
L was standing in front of the car with a bouquet of eustoma, clearly waiting for them.
He walked up to Ruby Sullivan and offered her the flowers, "I came to drive you to work."
Sasha Shaw angrily blocked Ruby, "How do you still have the face to show up?"
Ruby Sullivan gently pulled away from Sasha, took a step forward, took the flowers from him, and sneered, "The flowers are beautiful, but after trashy hands have touched them, they just feel disgusting." She then smacked him on the face with the flowers, scattering petals everywhere until they finally threw the remnants at his face.
L didn’t move an inch the whole time, and his face felt hot from the smack. His patience was wearing thin, and he was truly a bit angry as he tilted his head at her, "Wenny, do you think refusing me this way will end well for you?"
Ruby Sullivan turned her head, smiled faintly, and slowly mocked, "I’m so scared."
"You better remember what you said today," L said before getting into his car and speeding away. 𝙧𝙚𝙚𝔀𝒆𝓫𝓷𝙤𝓿𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝙤𝓶
Sasha knew a bit about L’s background and saw the cold glint in his eyes as he left, making her worry, "He won’t really go against you, will he?"
"Who knows?" After all, she had made up her mind to humiliate him every time he provoked her. Everyone knew how to hurt each other.
Three days later, Lustra Department Store announced The Lawson Group’s launch, and L declared in an interview that they would release a special Christmas edition, especially to thank Celestian customers for their support, offering items at very considerate prices.
It wasn’t long before L mentioned in an interview that they would release aromatic candles, handmade soaps, and other daily fragrance products exclusively for the domestic market.
Though his words seemed to flatter the market, savvy people could see he aimed to outdo his once-promising apprentice.
Furthermore, L personally assumed the role of the Celestian Region ambassador, with his charming silver hair and his captivatingly devilish face, generating top-tier popularity the moment the advertisement launched.
Ruby Sullivan and Sasha Shaw, though having rented a suitable standalone store, couldn’t match the foot traffic of a top-tier shopping center like Lustra.
And since The Lawson Group’s entry into the domestic market, Nirvana’s orders had plummeted.
Ruby Sullivan forced herself not to be disturbed by these matters and focused on developing new products. That night, as she worked overtime, Leon Sterling appeared at the company entrance.
