Chubby Mommy: Scheming Daddy, Surrender Now!-Chapter 301: Why Not Remarry
To taste, or not to taste, that is the question!
Ruby Sullivan’s heart was literally racing at one hundred and twenty beats per minute from Ethan Sterling’s sudden act of cuteness.
While she was feeling at a loss, she suddenly noticed, not far away, the kid who had just bumped into Ethan Sterling was staring at them with big eyes, seemingly also at a loss.
"Peng Peng! Why didn’t you wait for mommy?" A woman with a backpack and a water bottle around her neck breathlessly caught hold of the little boy, apparently worn out from chasing a mischievous monkey.
The child explained in a slightly hoarse voice, "Mommy, I just bumped into that uncle and wanted to apologize, but he seems a bit busy holding onto that sister now..."
The mom glanced towards the direction her son pointed.
Ruby Sullivan hurriedly jumped out of Ethan Sterling’s arms, awkwardly smiling at the woman, her face blushing crimson to her ears.
The little boy took a step forward to apologize, yet froze in place, the uncle’s expression as he turned his head was quite intimidating!
Ethan Sterling clasped Ruby Sullivan’s hand, "Let’s go."
He needed to find a place to deal with the sugary strands on his face, but those strands were really troublesome to handle. No matter how long he washed and scrubbed with cold water in the restroom, they remained sticky. The two of them found a shade to sit down, and Ruby Sullivan helped wipe his face with wet wipes bit by bit. It took nearly twenty minutes before Mr. Sterling’s handsome face was restored.
Ruby Sullivan looked left and right, then reached out to touch and pinch, again touch, again pinch, and... ah, this feels quite nice, she really didn’t want to stop pinching.
"Having fun?" Ethan Sterling raised his eyebrows, looking at the girl who was squinting with a silly smile.
"Hehe." Ruby Sullivan cupped his face, leaned in and gave him a kiss, "It’s alright."
Ethan Sterling was taken aback, "Not enough." With that, he cupped her face and leaned in for another kiss.
Leaving wonderful memories from the twenties to be experienced now, seemed like a pretty good deal.
Noticing the peak meal time had passed, the two wandered to the dining area and chose the most appealing-looking restaurant. Although the prices were shockingly high, the taste was quite good.
After eating to their fill, and casually wandering around the amusement park taking various pictures, they queued up for bumper cars. Ethan Sterling even accompanied Ruby Sullivan on the merry-go-round she had eagerly anticipated.
Last time at Wonderland, they had both brought their babies. Although it was still a merry-go-round, this time it felt completely different. This time, Ruby Sullivan and Ethan Sterling held hands, exchanging smiles, as if the world only had the two of them left.
It wasn’t until the sun set that they left the amusement park, although Ethan Sterling seemed a bit reluctant. It was said the midnight sessions here were lively too. He hadn’t visited the amusement park at night before, but seeing Ruby Sullivan was a bit tired, he wanted her to head home to rest.
As they entered the house, their two little ones ran up for cuddles. Ethan Sterling lifted both kids, one on each side, while Ruby Sullivan moved in to give a kiss to her daughter and then her son, feeling utterly blissful!
Off to the side, Owen Fulton watched enviously, quietly saying to Mama Bennett, "Mr. Sterling and Ruby’s relationship is really wonderful. I hope to marry a man who loves me this way in the future too."
Having not been at The Sterling Family for long, although she’d heard some gossip about the owners, following Mama Bennett around daily, what she observed were Mr. Sterling’s various acts of spousal affection. Indeed, rumors were not to be trusted.
Mama Bennett, fully aware of what the couple had gone through to get to this point, didn’t reply to Owen, but gently reminded, "Mr. Sterling, Ruby, you should start getting ready for dinner."
"Mama Bennett made so many delicious dishes today; Honey has already smelled the aroma."
Ethan Sterling set the two kids down, ruffling his daughter’s hair, "Go wash your hands with your brother, we’re about to eat."
Ruby Sullivan watched the joyful scene before her, feeling a bit dazed. Remembering past days and seeing now was like a dream.
Even though she knew Ethan Sterling was already very good to her, there were still many moments that made her feel dazed and then fear a sudden reversal in life.
Based on her thirty years of life experience, anything she hoped for always managed to knock her down at the last moment, leaving her battered and bruised.
When younger, it was manageable as there were many chances to start afresh, but now, she seemed more and more fearful of changes.
Ethan Sterling noticed her spacing out, waved a hand in front of her eyes, "What’s wrong?"
Ruby Sullivan shook her head, with a faint smile said, "Let’s wash hands and eat." Then hummed a random tune as she quickly headed to the restroom.
Ethan Sterling watched her back, deep in thought.
At night, Ruby Sullivan entered the room and found Ethan Sterling finished showering but not watching the news. Instead, he was sitting on the bed seemingly deep in thought. As soon as she entered, his focused gaze settled on her.
Ruby Sullivan felt awkward under his stare, "Is there something on my face?"
Ethan Sterling shook his head and seriously asked, "Do you think my looks are delectable enough?"
Ruby Sullivan blinked, thinking her ears malfunctioned, then suddenly lunged at the bed, shaking Ethan Sterling’s shoulders, "What trickster are you, and where did you take Mr. Sterling?"
Ethan Sterling was shaken so much he almost threw up his dinner, decided silently to remove that interactive drama from the date list, his dramatic wife was a bit terrifying.
Ruby Sullivan, having shaken enough, saw his determined gaze, couldn’t help but laugh, "What’s wrong with you?"
Ethan Sterling took a deep breath, becoming even more serious, "Aren’t you even tempted to eat me up?"
Ruby Sullivan: ...
At this time, in bed, asking her such a question... could she say she refused to indulge?
Ethan Sterling saw Ruby Sullivan watching him like he was an idiot, suddenly pursed his lips, asked in frustration, "Was it... a bit weird?"
Ruby Sullivan nodded repeatedly.
"I feel that way too..." Ethan Sterling turned to sit with his back to the headboard. Howard’s recommended domineering CEO novels really seemed problematic, yet he’d studied them so earnestly...
Ruby Sullivan knelt on the bed, observing his deeply troubled expression, even more puzzled, "What’s wrong with you?" Was he holding something back for so long it messed with his brain circuitry? It’s rumored when men are deprived for too long, they become abnormal.
"Or perhaps..." she hesitated.
Ethan Sterling suddenly turned to her, "Let’s remarry."
"Huh?" Ruby Sullivan was stunned.
"I said, let’s remarry." He looked at her, eyes more determined than before, but seeing her frozen expression, he faltered, "Does it seem insincere said like this?"
"Um, kind of." Ruby Sullivan absentmindedly agreed, lowering her head.
Actually, she could see the sincerity and earnestness in his eyes, but at that moment, her mind went blank.
It wasn’t fear or worry, just a lack of an answer.
