Chapter 300: Chapter 300: So Sweet

Three days later, Ruby Sullivan appeared once again in the president’s office on the top floor of The Sterling Group. Also present was Peter Rhodes, the legal advisor, who, as the joint legal advisor for both parties, could only rely on his personal charm to ensure the fairness of the contract.

Ruby Sullivan held the contract, and after three seconds of silence, she decisively turned to the last page, signed her name, took out her official seal, and stamped it down with a solemn expression.

Ethan Sterling put a copy in the safe, then sat up straight and looked at Peter Rhodes.

Lawyer Rhodes immediately stood up, "If there’s nothing else, I’ll be on my way."

"Thank you for your hard work," Ruby Sullivan said politely, noticing that Ethan Sterling seemed to have something to say, so she didn’t mention that she was in a hurry to get back to work. "Mr. Sterling, is there anything else you need?"

Ethan Sterling’s face, which had been cold as ice, melted into a smiling bloom. "What do you feel like for lunch?"

Ruby Sullivan chuckled wryly, "Mr. Sterling, it’s only ten o’clock. Isn’t it a bit early to be thinking about lunch?"

Ethan Sterling pressed his lips together in silence for a moment, then asked, "Got any plans for the weekend? Honey said she wants to go to the zoo."

"Ah, zoos in the summer are a bit cruel for me." It’s not that she doesn’t like animals, but the zoo in the summer has quite a strong smell, and because she has a particularly sensitive nose, it’s harder for her than for most people.

"Hmm, how about the amusement park?"

Ruby Sullivan thought it over, "I was planning to work overtime this weekend, but it’s already been quite a while into the summer break and I haven’t taken the kids out yet. It seems a bit unfair... Let’s go on Saturday then."

"Alright, you head back to work then, don’t tell the kids just yet." Mr. Sterling shifted back to his work mode.

"Why not?" Honey wouldn’t mind, but Seth might start making plans in advance.

"To surprise them."

Hearing this reason, Ruby Sullivan immediately nodded with a smile, "Okay, we’ll tell them right before we leave."

She felt like giving Mr. Sterling a thumbs up in her mind; he was becoming more and more like a great dad!

Early Saturday morning, Ruby Sullivan woke up and sat up right away, thinking it would be best to head out early to take the kids to the amusement park. She stretched her arms, then turned to the half-awake Mr. Sterling and said, "I’m going to wake the kids. They’ll definitely be excited to know we’re going to the amusement park."

"I’ll tell them."

"Why?"

"Just wait, you go out first and say you’re going to work overtime. Then I’ll tell them. It’s called ’heightening the surprise’." Ethan Sterling lazily explained, flipping over onto the soft pillow, his hair a mess. Although he was in his thirties, there was a youthful air about him.

Ruby Sullivan thought his idea was brilliant, imagining their daughter blinking in disbelief before cheering. She couldn’t resist leaning in to peck his cheek. "Sweetheart, you’re such a clever fox. I’ll go freshen up; you get up soon too so we can leave early and enjoy more rides in the cooler weather."

An hour later, according to plan, Ruby Sullivan, already in the car waiting, only saw Mr. Sterling join her.

When she saw him get in and start the engine, she looked baffled, "Where are the kids?"

"They said it’s too hot and they don’t want to go out," Ethan Sterling lied without batting an eye.

Ruby Sullivan gave him a suspicious look, but seeing his calm face break into a brilliant smile, her heart blossomed too. "Alright then." She put away her disbelief and joyfully cheered, "Let’s hit the amusement park!"

Ethan Sterling turned on the music, picking a song she liked. Ruby Sullivan mumbled along, waving her arms and dancing like she had just drunk two liters of chicken blood.

The smile remained on Ethan Sterling’s face, as if the usual stern Mr. Sterling was just another persona of his.

In reality, he never even mentioned the amusement park to the kids. Lately, Ruby Sullivan’s workload had been too intense, and it was unhealthy to keep such a tight string.

Though he had signed a betting agreement with her to respect her dignity, it didn’t mean he would let his wife exhaust herself for the sake of business gains.

He had discussed for over an hour with Howard and eventually decided on the zoo and the amusement park, both suitable for young couples’ dates. Based on previous dating experiences, such places where they could act young were definitely appealing to Ruby Sullivan.

Besides, they were great stress relievers. Little animals could heal the soul, and roller coasters and the like could stimulate the release of dopamine, the source of happiness.

His wife wanted to start a business, and he was all in to support her with money and effort. If she didn’t want to rely too heavily on him, he would make a show of it to give her the respect she wanted. But letting his wife become a workaholic for her ambitions was absolutely unacceptable. He just couldn’t bear it.

After entering the amusement park, they immediately reverted to their eighteen-year-old selves, the first step being putting on bear ear headbands.

Ethan Sterling had already witnessed Ruby Sullivan’s fondness for such childish accessories, so seeing her darting towards a stall didn’t surprise him at all.

He simply followed behind, carefully considering which one looked best on her, kneeling down to let her put her favorite headband on him, and only after she was satisfied did he haggle with the vendor over the price before paying.

After the couple took on some thrill rides, it was almost noon. The glaring sun was too bright to look at, so Ruby Sullivan dragged him to an interactive theater.

Inside, they were performing "The Wizard of Oz." When the Tin Man took Ruby Sullivan’s hand to touch his empty chest, Ethan Sterling was a bit unwilling. But seeing his wife get into character exaggeratedly asking, "Oh my, why don’t you have a heart?"

He swallowed his reluctance, even thinking visiting such places more often wouldn’t be bad at all. 𝒻𝓇𝑒𝘦𝘸𝑒𝒷𝓃ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝒸ℴ𝘮

After leaving the theater, Ruby Sullivan felt hungry. Seeing the cotton candy reminded her of a classic scene from a Korean drama and insisted on having a cotton candy kiss with Ethan Sterling.

Not quite understanding, Ethan Sterling obediently followed her description. Just as he bent forward slightly, sticking his butt out to match her height, a wild child ran into him from behind, causing him to lose balance and step forward, his whole face plunging into the cotton candy.

Ruby Sullivan was stunned. Looking at Ethan Sterling’s face covered in spun sugar, she started to laugh, "I’m sorry, but it is so funny!" She laughed while frantically taking pictures with her phone, afraid to miss capturing Mr. Sterling in such a priceless moment.

Ethan Sterling’s eyebrow twitched, even the strands of sugar looked coquettish, "Funny, huh?"

"Uh-huh." Ruby Sullivan, busy snapping photos, nodded at the image of Mr. Sterling on the screen.

The next second, Mr. Sterling thrust the cotton candy her way. Ruby Sullivan quickly laughed and ran away, only to be swept back into his arms by his long reach.

"Still funny?" Ethan Sterling brandished the cotton candy menacingly.

Ruby Sullivan pressed her lips, trying her best not to laugh, but she couldn’t hold back and nodded, "Not laughing anymore." Yet as soon as she said it, laughter burst out.

"Hmm?" Ethan Sterling glared, "Let me see this face; where’s the best spot to rub?"

Ruby Sullivan playfully stood on tiptoe and kissed him on the cheek. "So sweet."

Ethan Sterling lowered his face, "Then have a good taste."
