Chubby Mommy: Scheming Daddy, Surrender Now!-Chapter 285: Call Me Mrs. Sterling
Honey saw her mother appear at the door and was both surprised and happy, "Mom, you’re off work so early today?"
"Yes." Ruby Sullivan walked slowly into Honey’s room, "Go to your brother’s room first, I have something to discuss with Mr. Yates."
"Okay." Honey agreed, getting off the chair to leave.
Gwen Yates glanced fearfully at Ruby Sullivan, as if very scared, then lowered her gaze and dared not meet her eyes again, suddenly grabbing Honey as she passed by.
Honey was startled, and turned back to look at her in confusion, "Mr. Yates, what’s wrong?"
Gwen pursed her lips and begged Honey, "Honey, can you stay here with me?" Then she looked at Ruby Sullivan, "Wenny, I’m a little scared to be alone with you."
Seeing the teacher’s demeanor, Honey felt she was genuinely scared, but didn’t understand why she was afraid of her mom. She could only turn to ask her mother’s consent, "Mom, can I stay and keep the teacher company?"
With Ethan Sterling not around, this woman actually wanted to use her daughter as a weak point against her. Ruby Sullivan’s expression darkened, she was very displeased.
Honey was frightened by her mother’s expression and was temporarily scared herself, "Mom, what’s wrong with you?" She was even more puzzled.
At that moment, Seth also came in, "Mom." After greeting his mother, he walked to his sister’s side, pulling her towards the bed. Only then did Gwen release Honey’s arm.
Ruby Sullivan frowned, "Seth, take your sister out."
Seth pulled his sister to sit by the bed and calmly said, "Mom, we’re big kids now, we should have the ability to distinguish right from wrong. So that in the future, when we encounter similar situations, we won’t be deceived. Let us listen here. We promise not to talk." He finished and looked at his sister, "Honey, do you understand?"
"Okay." Honey nodded, obedient to her brother, even though she didn’t understand why he was saying that.
Seth had honestly no confidence in his useless father. Considering his sister’s performance in the Gwen incident, he felt it was better for her to know more of the truth.
Ruby Sullivan hesitated for a moment, but ultimately chose to trust Seth’s judgment. 𝗳𝚛𝚎𝚎𝘄𝕖𝕓𝕟𝕠𝚟𝚎𝕝.𝗰𝕠𝐦
She sat down on a chair, "Mr. Yates, Ethan and I have sought Honey’s consent, and we don’t want to hire a tutor for her anymore. I will include today’s time in settling your payment."
Gwen looked at her, already starting to cry, sobbing as she asked, "Wenny, I actually came today to say goodbye to the children. After what happened, I don’t know how to face you." She glanced at the two children on the bed, "They are still young, I know it’s not good for them to be here, but I am really scared, and yet know that being afraid is useless..."
"There’s no need for so much idle talk, this is my home, I’d like you to leave immediately and never appear again. Also, please call me Mrs. Sterling!" Ruby Sullivan smiled while her tone was somewhat hurried, only feeling a nameless fire rising from her heart all the way to her head, making her mind feel like it was going to explode.
Gwen wiped away her tears, assuming an expression that seemed to disregard everything, raising her voice a little, "I do like Ethan, but I have my principles, this feeling has always been kept inside, and I have not wanted to break you up. If you’re that insecure, you can just tell me or fire me, why did you hire a man to hurt me? Ruby Sullivan, you have a daughter too, aren’t you afraid of retribution?"
Ruby Sullivan looked at her pitiful accusation and finally realized why she was angry; this woman looked exactly like another version of Rhonda Sullivan, besides being manipulative, they also had one thing in common, which was blatantly lying.
She took several deep breaths to calm herself, "Have you said enough?"
Gwen stared at her with reddened eyes, choking with unspeakable grievance, "Can I ask you a question?"
"You’ve already asked me so many questions, but I think none of your questions require me to answer."
"Do you think destroying me with a man will make you and Ethan remarry?"
Ruby Sullivan sneered, "Firstly, I didn’t hire a man, secondly, the decision to remarry Ethan or not has always been in my hands, which might be somewhat different from what you think, so I am really sorry."
Gwen bit her lower lip, glanced at Honey again, and then dragged her luggage as she left.
"Tsk tsk, said she came to say goodbye, yet dragging luggage along, Miss Yates must have worked hard." Ruby Sullivan looked at her back, unreasonably making sarcastic comments.
Upon hearing the door close, the strength that had been supporting Ruby Sullivan immediately dissipated. She leaned back in the chair and lightly closed her eyes, striving to dispel the images in her mind.
Honey was dumbfounded; she had never seen such a terrifying Mr. Yates, nor such a frightening mother. She was at a loss, jumped off the bed, slowly walked to her mother’s side, and held her hand, "Mom, are you alright?"
Though her mother made the teacher cry, no matter how good the teacher was, they were outsiders, so when arguing with her mom, she of course stood by her mother.
Ruby Sullivan opened her eyes, meeting Honey’s worried gaze, and her heart instantly softened. For the sake of the two children, she had to safeguard this family, no matter what kind of monsters or demons come to disturb her in the future, she couldn’t show weakness.
"Mom’s fine, were you frightened?"
Honey shook her head, then nodded. She wanted to comfort her mother, but also felt that lying wasn’t good.
"Mom, today I asked Mr. Yates if she intended to take dad, she said she never thought of it that way, that you misunderstood her."
"She’s lying to you." Ruby Sullivan felt Seth was right, if such things couldn’t be avoided for the time being, Honey should at least know more to avoid being used.
"Oh, no wonder mom argued with her. Mom, don’t be angry anymore, Honey was deceived, thinking she was a good teacher. Mom, don’t blame Honey." She said as she embraced Ruby Sullivan with a well-behaved look.
Ruby Sullivan laughed, realizing she still held considerable credibility in this little one’s heart, her daughter wasn’t what you’d call in any rebellious phase!
She ruffled Honey’s hair, "Alright, mom suddenly feels a bit tired, I’m going back to the room to rest."
Saying that, she got up and slowly left Honey’s room, returning to the bedroom.
Sitting on the window seat looking out, she suddenly felt like drinking some wine, so she asked Mama Bennett to bring a bottle of white wine over.
Mama Bennett brought the wine, somewhat concerned, "Should I call Mr. Sterling?"
"No need, it’s just a small matter, all resolved." Ruby Sullivan smiled, taking the wine and glass, "Alright, you can go now." She poured the wine and set it aside, calculated Gwen Yates’ remuneration, transferred it without a penny missing, and then deleted this person.
She was indeed in a bit of a mood, but not because of Gwen, but because Gwen reminded her too much of Rhonda Sullivan.
