Chapter 275: Chapter 275: Gwen Yates’s Schemes

Honey peeked inside, about to speak, but her brother grabbed her by the back of the neck and pulled her out, startling her. Her big eyes blinked in confusion as she looked at her brother.

Seth Sterling shut the door, frowned, and asked, "What are you doing?"

"I’m calling Mom and Dad for breakfast," Honey replied, noticing her brother’s displeasure, lowered her voice instinctively, but her sharp little voice was still easily heard through the door.

Seth hurriedly covered her mouth, pulling her into the living room before saying, "Mom has been busy with work lately, she definitely came back late last night. She needs to sleep a bit more this morning, so don’t disturb her."

Honey thought about it and felt her brother made a lot of sense. Surprised, she covered her mouth and muttered, "I understand, brother."

Gwen Yates saw the siblings whispering and approached them with good intentions, asking, "Why haven’t you called Mom? If she doesn’t come out soon, breakfast will be cold."

Speaking in a not low volume, Honey immediately gestured with a shushing motion to her, "Mr. Yates, Mom is too tired recently and needs to sleep more today. Let’s go eat first." With that, she took Gwen’s hand and led her to breakfast.

Seth remembered his dad’s advice, and with a ponderous look, he began to think about how to save his silly sister.

Mama Bennett, who was bringing out the fried dough sticks, heard Gwen’s words. As she sat down at the table, she told Honey, "If Mr. and Mrs. eat breakfast, they will wake up on time. If they’re not up, it means they went to bed late and need more sleep. I’ll heat it for them when they wake up, Honey, don’t worry."

"I understand, Mama Bennett," Honey replied obediently.

Mama Bennett smiled at Honey and didn’t look at Gwen once. Her words were clearly meant for Gwen, and she deliberately used the terms "Mr." and "Mrs." to subtly let Gwen know not to get too full of herself and mistakenly think she’s part of the Sterling Family.

Gwen just smiled and kept company with Honey during breakfast, acting as if she hadn’t heard anything.

Shortly, Seth sat down as well and noticed Gwen would chat with Honey after only taking a couple of bites. He frowned and told his sister, "Honey, Dad said that talking less during meals is better for digestion."

Honey tilted her head at Seth, sensing something was off about her brother’s aura today. But she had always been obedient to her brother, instinctively knowing from long-time companionship when to listen to him, so she nodded immediately, "Got it, brother."

Though she said that, she couldn’t remember a single instance where their dad actually told them that because their mom enjoyed chatting during meals, and their dad always seemed happy to chat with her.

Gwen smiled and patted Honey’s head, agreeing, "Dad is right. It’s my bad this time for talking too much." She then flashed an apologetic look towards Seth, "Seth, don’t blame Honey, and forgive the teacher, okay?"

Seth glanced at her, adhering to his earlier statement, and didn’t respond, merely focused on eating.

Across the table, Mama Bennett noticed all this and felt that with the young master around, Honey wouldn’t be led astray.

At this time, Ruby Sullivan had already woken up in the bedroom.

Because of the unpredictability of taking care of Honey over the years, Ruby had become a light sleeper, especially sensitive to her daughter’s voice. So, when Honey opened the door, she heard the commotion in a drowsy state, and as Honey’s voice came through, she groggily opened her eyes.

But since she was too tired, she closed her eyes again when she saw no one in the room.

However, Ethan Sterling, whose sleep quality was even poorer, had already woken up when his daughter first pushed the door open. So later, he could hear everything Gwen said in the living room, yet seeing Ruby not stirring, he laid still and closed his eyes again.

In his youth, he had been proud of being admired by many women, but now, reflecting on it, he realized that young and frivolous men are quite unreliable.

Thinking this way, Ethan frowned slightly. From Rhonda’s situation, he concluded that with some women, merely verbal rejections weren’t thorough enough.

Ruby Sullivan slept until past ten, finally waking due to a pressing urge to use the bathroom. She stumbled out of the room, and Mama Bennett quickly greeted her with a smile, "Ma’am is awake."

Mama Bennett usually referred to her as the second young mistress, so the sudden change in title left Ruby confused, blinking for a while before realizing what was going on.

Mama Bennett glanced towards Honey’s room and leaned in to whisper, "Gwen came in before eight today..." She hadn’t finished her sentence when Honey ran out of the room.

"Mom!" Honey shouted, rushing to Ruby and hugged her legs, "I missed you so much."

Lately, Ruby had indeed had little time with the kids due to being too busy, so Honey’s clinginess, though a bit exaggerated, did include some heartfelt truth.

Ruby kissed Honey’s little face and ruffled her hair, "Then after your classes today, I’ll play with you, okay?"

"Okay," Honey replied happily.

Gwen, who followed them out, also greeted her, "Wenny, well, I thought it’s been a week since I last visited, so I wanted to teach Honey a bit more today. Do you have plans this afternoon?"

"Not really, focus on your classes."

"Alright," Gwen said as she beckoned Honey over, "Then let’s continue."

"Okay, Mr. Yates," Honey obediently followed her back to the room.

Mama Bennett saw them coming and continued her cleaning, while Ruby still drowsily wandered to the bathroom, mid-yawn without finishing her words. No one noticed as Gwen glanced towards the bedroom before turning away. 𝒻𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝘯𝘰𝑣ℯ𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝘮

Earlier, when she heard Mama Bennett greeting Ruby, she hurriedly let Honey out to greet her mom. But actually, she hoped to see someone possibly waking up with her.

However, the other person was crafty, listening to the whole living room skit and already devising a plan.

Ruby, thinking it was getting late and sleeping too much would affect her energy, washed her face, munching on an apple as she went back to the bedroom to ask Ethan Sterling if he wanted breakfast, so Mama Bennett could heat it up.

Ethan Sterling deliberately lazed in bed, motioning her over, taking a bite of the apple from where she bit, then suddenly leaned in for a kiss, grinning contently, "No breakfast, let’s freshen up and go out for fun."

Ruby had developed some resistance to such surprise attacks, and considering he was her angel investor, it was unwise to hold grudges, so she just paused for a moment and continued eating her apple nonchalantly, asking vaguely, "Where to?" She originally planned to stay home with the kids, but since Gwen suggested an extended lesson, the idea of going out sounded inviting too.

"I’ve checked, Ariston University hasn’t started their break yet." He concluded with a smile, giving a knowing look.

Ruby thought for a moment, smiled slightly, her interest piqued.
