Chapter 250: Chapter 250: Heaven’s Favor

I don’t know how long they waited, but the door to the reception room was finally pushed open, and Zane Lawson walked in, his face filled with unconcealable joy. "Mr. Sterling, Mrs. Sterling, congratulations! Seth Sterling is your long-lost son."

After speaking, he handed the test results in his hand to Ethan Sterling and Ruby Sullivan, sincerely happy for the two of them. Due to his excitement, he didn’t realize there was something off about his words.

Seth came to The Sterling Family when he was just a few months old, and Ethan Sterling didn’t even know he had lost a son, so talking about a ’long-lost son’ sounded a bit far from reality.

Even though they had anticipated such an outcome, when the facts were presented before them, the emotional impact was completely different.

Ethan Sterling stared at his little son, momentarily stunned.

Previously, he always heard people say Seth looked like him, but he never took it to heart, even thinking those people were just trying to flatter him. He never saw the resemblance whenever he looked at Seth.

But now, as he looked at Seth’s features, for the first time, he truly felt the boy resembled him, not just in demeanor, but in the shape of his features, as if each detail spoke of their shared genes.

Meanwhile, Ruby Sullivan looked at the test report over and over again, afraid to miss a single word, terrified of making a mistake. It wasn’t until she confirmed she hadn’t been wrong—she wasn’t dreaming—that her eyes filled with tears. Overcome with emotion, she covered her mouth, trying her best to suppress her feelings, fearing her cries might frighten the child.

Despite Ethan Sterling’s previous unwavering tone, in her heart, she refused to believe such a thing could happen. She and Ethan Sterling had been separated for five years, and even if he had stayed pure, there was no guarantee he hadn’t indulged like he did with her back then when drunk. She had even considered that the DNA test report was fake, as no one knew who had done the deed so long ago. A fake report wouldn’t be surprising.

But now, a miracle had occurred. Her son wasn’t lost, he was right in front of her!

Seth, also feeling a surge of emotions, saw that Ruby Sullivan was sobbing uncontrollably, and he immediately ran over to hug her leg, calling out hoarsely, "Mommy."

After calling out, he himself was overwhelmed with emotion. Seth, who never cried in front of others, suddenly burst into tears.

No wonder he had wanted to be close to Ruby Sullivan the first time he met her. He found her face beautiful, her scent pleasant, and her voice so nice to hear. It turned out she was his mom!

The more Seth thought about it, the more emotional he became, unable to stop crying.

Ruby Sullivan hurriedly squatted down to pull him into her arms, still shedding tears herself. While sniffling, she wiped Seth’s tears, "Son, I never thought I’d see you again. I’m sorry it was my fault back then, letting bad people take you... I’m sorry."

If not for the bond between the baby and Ethan Sterling, this matter would have been a lifelong heartache for her. Now... the joy and excitement in Ruby Sullivan’s heart were indescribable. She was grateful to the heavens for the favor, willing even to lose ten years of her life for it!

Seth also grabbed a tissue to wipe Ruby Sullivan’s tears, sniffling as he said, "Mommy, don’t apologize. Aren’t I fine now?"

Ruby Sullivan held Seth’s face, and as she looked at him, she cried again, thinking, ’How is he fine? Not at all. Being with Ethan Sterling, the big tyrant, he’s practically been disciplined into a little old man. If he were by my side, he’d surely grow up happy as a little prince!’

Luckily, they had finally recognized each other. She knew she couldn’t recover the lost five years, but in the days to come, she would always be by his side, helping him grow up with love!

Ethan Sterling saw how the two were crying so fiercely, and he too couldn’t help but get teary-eyed. He turned away to calm his own emotions.

When investigating Ruby Sullivan, he only knew she had given birth to twins in the hospital back then, but he couldn’t find any subsequent information on the children, not even their registered household status. So, initially, he had probed Ruby Sullivan many times, and coupled with Honey’s illness, at one point, he assumed his son had passed away after birth due to some health issues.

After coming to this conclusion, he didn’t dare to ask Ruby Sullivan again, fearing he’d bring up her sadness. Seeing that she got along well with Seth, he guessed she had transferred her feelings for her son to Seth. Therefore, when Seth expressed his desire to leave with Ruby Sullivan, Ethan agreed.

Because he believed Ruby Sullivan would truly care for the child.

Unexpectedly, unexpectedly...

Zane Lawson was moved by the sight of the family reunion, but he still had to say what needed to be said. Seeing that Ethan Sterling was more emotionally stable, he walked over to quietly remind him, "Mr. Sterling, are we taking Seth for the bone marrow test today?" 𝘧𝓇ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝘣𝓃ℴ𝓋𝑒𝑙.𝑐𝘰𝑚

Ethan Sterling furrowed his brow slightly.

Though they had planned this long ago, the thought of making his son undergo such a painful test right after their reunion, and not knowing how much suffering he might have to endure for his sister in the future, pained his heart.

He couldn’t help but think of his own past with Leon Sterling. Looking at Seth, he found himself unable to speak.

Seth might have good ears, as he heard Zane Lawson’s words despite his low volume. Holding back his tears with effort, he looked at Ethan Sterling, "Dad, I want to go for the check-up now." For his sister’s sake, no matter how uncomfortable it might be, he would endure!

Ethan Sterling took a few steps forward and patted his head, "Thank you."

He didn’t know what to say other than thank you for his son’s behavior.

Once the test results were favorable, it would mean Seth would become Honey’s donor. Even if the bone marrow transplant succeeded, there might be unknown complications, and Seth could very well become a frequent visitor at the hospital, having to undergo endless blood draws and exams even if he were healthy.

He recalled those familiar yet unfamiliar scenes, worried his son might have made such a decisive decision in a moment of enthusiasm. Would he still do so once he experienced the associated pain?

He knew this was his daughter’s only chance for survival, yet he couldn’t cruelly demand his son’s sacrifice. He understood that if resentment took root in his son’s heart over this matter, even if Honey recovered, she would live a life burdened with guilt towards her brother.

He didn’t want them to become a second version of himself and Leon, unwilling to ruin both children’s lives because of this.

He also understood Ruby Sullivan’s feelings, knowing how much she wanted Honey to survive. As a father, his hopes weren’t any less, but he recognized that he couldn’t be selfish towards Seth!

"Wait!" Ruby Sullivan held back her tears and choked out before he could speak.
