Chubby Mommy: Scheming Daddy, Surrender Now!-Chapter 233: Missing His Daughter
"Cindy said he didn’t go there." Ethan Sterling hung up the phone and said.
Ruby Sullivan was so anxious that tears welled up in her eyes. She blinked her big eyes in confusion, completely at a loss.
Where could father have gone?
"The Sullivan Group?" She thought that the thing her father cared most about was his own company. Could it be that he was worried about the Sullivan Group being taken over by Ethan Sterling and went to the company himself?
Ethan Sterling patted her shoulder to comfort her while calling Howard, "Brandon Sullivan has left home. He likely went to the Sullivan Group. Please send people to quickly search the surrounding area."
"Yes, Mr. Sterling." Howard hung up the phone, put aside his work, and started organizing people.
Ethan Sterling thought for a moment and also sent the Sterling Family’s bodyguards to check Lana Shaw’s gravesite. Men of this age are likely to miss old friends, especially since Brandon Sullivan recently felt his daughter was deceived, his most desired confidant would likely be his wife.
Listening to him instruct on the phone, Ruby Sullivan’s anxious heart gradually calmed down. Even if she couldn’t provide any strong information, he seemed to quickly find her father.
A few minutes later, Ethan Sterling finished the call and asked Ruby Sullivan’s opinion again, "Have you thought of any other places?"
"No." Ruby Sullivan lowered her head in guilt, "I can’t guess where my dad might have gone..."
Ethan Sterling was silent for a few seconds and then ordered: "Go to Mercy Hospital." After speaking, he dialed Zane Lawson’s number but unfortunately, no one answered.
Howard had already received news that Brandon Sullivan did not go to the company, but people were stationed at several nearby intersections. If there’s any news, they will inform them immediately.
Almost at the hospital, Zane Lawson finally called back, saying he was busy with a minor surgery this morning and couldn’t answer the phone. After listening to Ethan Sterling’s description, he immediately hung up to find the person at the nursing home.
A few minutes later, Zane Lawson called back, saying Brandon Sullivan was at the hospital, but the doctors were worried about a repeat of last time’s situation, suggesting Ruby Sullivan goes alone.
Ethan Sterling sent a group message to his subordinates, accompanied Ruby Sullivan to the path near the nursing home’s garden, and stopped far away when he saw Zane Lawson.
"You go ahead yourself."
Ruby Sullivan nodded.
Ethan Sterling recalled the previous scene and couldn’t help but reach out to hold her, "Be careful."
"Don’t worry, I’ve learned martial arts and can protect myself." Plus, with her father there, she didn’t believe that when Rhonda Sullivan went mad against her, he wouldn’t help.
In the distance, Brandon Sullivan and Rhonda Sullivan sat on a bench. The former sat upright, while the latter had her feet on the chair, hugging her knees like a ball. Even from this distance, she looked fragile and helpless.
Although she had seen her like this many times, Ruby Sullivan still felt a bit dazed. How did the arrogant Rhonda Sullivan fall to such a state?
Brandon Sullivan squinted against the wind, "Your sister will probably be home soon. She’ll worry if she finds I’m not home, so I must go."
Rhonda Sullivan stammered in response, "Don’t come again. I don’t want to see you."
"You are my daughter. Even if you don’t want to see me, I will still miss you." He slowly stood up, glanced over, and saw Ruby Sullivan approaching, furrowing his brow. How did she find this place?
"Dad," Ruby Sullivan called.
"Hmm," Brandon Sullivan responded gruffly, too annoyed to look at her.
Ruby Sullivan sighed, trying her best to suppress her emotions, "Are we going home?"
"Let’s go." He said it and took big steps ahead.
Ruby Sullivan glanced at Rhonda Sullivan and saw her motionless, still gazing at the ground as if unaware of her presence.
Seeing Brandon Sullivan walk away, she hurried to catch up.
Once in the car, Brandon Sullivan glanced angrily at Ethan Sterling, "Did he send someone to follow me?"
A silly old man with a bit of persecution delusion? Ruby Sullivan didn’t want to answer this question for him.
Ethan Sterling chuckled lightly, "That’s a good idea." Since there’s no way for her father-in-law to like him now, there’s no need to watch his words. It was pretty good.
Brandon Sullivan was stumped, but wouldn’t admit defeat verbally, "Don’t think you can do whatever you want just because you’ve tricked my daughters. I’m the largest shareholder of the Sullivan Group. My daughters only hold proxy rights. I can call a shareholders meeting at any time."
Ruby Sullivan watched her father speak logically. For a moment, she forgot all her unhappiness, returning to being the playful little daughter by her father’s side, "Dad, you’re so formidable, quickly frighten him."
"Hmph," Brandon Sullivan patted his daughter’s hand, "He’ll know my power then."
Ethan Sterling shook his head with a wry smile, "I’ll be waiting for the good news."
While her father was visibly grumpy because of him, Ruby Sullivan felt a bit happy. If such conversations could energize his thoughts, it wasn’t a bad thing.
It’s just that staying mad all the time shouldn’t cause a stroke.
Ruby Sullivan thought about it and decided it might be better to ease the atmosphere, "Dad, I’m planning to make braised fish for lunch." She saw Brandon Sullivan’s lips curl into a subtle smile before pretending to sigh in anger, "But since you ran out without telling me, I’m a bit upset and don’t feel like making it."
Brandon Sullivan widened his eyes, "I didn’t tell you because you’d tell this man? Your sister doesn’t want to see him now, so of course, I couldn’t tell you."
Ruby Sullivan pouted, deliberately tilting her head away from him, "I don’t care."
Brandon Sullivan snorted in anger, "One thing at a time, anyway... I want braised fish."
Ruby Sullivan couldn’t help but laugh; this was more like an old child, "Alas, since Dad wants it so much, even if I’m mad, I have to make it for you."
Upon hearing this, Brandon Sullivan’s facial expression softened quite a bit, glancing sideways at Ethan Sterling, "He’s so busy, I bet he doesn’t have time to come home for lunch, right?"
Ruby Sullivan originally wanted to say that since they were back, he might as well have lunch at home and then leave. But she didn’t expect her father to be so petty.
Though Ethan Sterling really wanted to stay for lunch, given Ruby Sullivan’s recent cooking spree, he decided to bear with the old man’s preference, "I have an important appointment around noon, so I can’t eat at home."
Ruby Sullivan studied his expression, unable to tell for a moment whether he was telling the truth or not.
Upon arriving home, after having Mama Bennett take the old man inside, Ruby Sullivan, who stayed by the car, asked Ethan Sterling inside, "Do you really have an appointment for lunch?"
"Of course not," Ethan Sterling admitted, "Besides, it’s a rare chance to have your braised fish, I’d cancel any appointment."
Ruby Sullivan didn’t want to acknowledge his latter statement, "Then I’ll pack a lunch box and send it to your office later." She felt a bit guilty.
"Forget it, it’s troublesome." He smiled, "I’m quite happy for you to owe me a favor."
Ruby Sullivan froze. Was her favor so easy to owe?
Just then, Brandon Sullivan called from the door, "Are you coming home or not?"
Ruby Sullivan sighed, "Forget it, a favor is a favor." Saying this, she shut the car door and turned to leave, feeling confident that he must be laughing inside the car.
