Chapter 230: Chapter 230: I Like It Too

Faye Truman smiled slightly, "Lost my job, came over to freeload on food, drinks, and accommodation."

Cindy Sterling opened her mouth, speechless.

Faye Truman didn’t bother with her, changed his shoes and went to explore the rooms, not forgetting to ask Cindy Sterling where she was staying. After hearing her answer, he chose the room next to hers, which had previously been occupied by Vivian.

Although Cindy Sterling found the situation a bit unbelievable, she didn’t throw Faye Truman’s luggage out. She soon snapped out of her shock and went back to her room.

For some reason, she didn’t feel as bad anymore.

Ethan Sterling finished a phone call with the servant, feeling more at ease, "It’s Faye Truman."

Ruby Sullivan belatedly widened her eyes, "Why does it feel like I missed a lot of drama?"

"Maybe," Ethan Sterling raised an eyebrow slightly, "Isn’t Faye Truman your best friend?" The implication being, you can go gossip directly.

Ruby Sullivan grinned mischievously at his reminder and immediately called her, "Faye Truman, what’s the situation?"

"No way, how did you get the news so quickly?"

"Answer my question."

Faye Truman replied dismissively, "I have a great reputation in the industry, and I’m known for good after-sales service. The Sterlings are too unreliable, so I have to take care of my clients myself."

Ruby Sullivan was uninterested in his muddled logic. "So your birthday next week?"

Unexpectedly she remembered, Faye Truman felt quite comforted, "Let me think about it."

"Got it." Ruby Sullivan smiled like a blooming flower.

Ethan Sterling, listening at the side, didn’t discern anything, signaling to her with his eyes.

Ruby Sullivan didn’t drag it out, "Faye Truman said nothing in your family is reliable, so he went to do after-sales service himself."

Ethan Sterling frowned, feeling that although the words were unpleasant, there was no way to refute them. He nodded and praised, "He’s quite trustworthy."

"Didn’t you always dislike him?" Ruby Sullivan scrutinized his expression, not sensing he was being sarcastic.

"Love for the house, love for the crow too," he replied without changing his expression.

Ruby Sullivan’s teasing gaze froze and quickly retracted. Recently, she had been flirted with in various ways, and inadvertently, his words always hit the mark, leaving her no room to counterattack, making her feel quite uneasy. The more she thought about it, the more she felt irked and pinched his hand hard, only then feeling a bit better.

Ethan Sterling frowned, looking at his reddened hand, and then at her slightly pouting side profile, he laughed. "This afternoon, coordinate with Howard. From now on, you won’t need to manage The Sullivan Group’s matters."

"Okay." Ruby Sullivan nodded, hoping this time she wouldn’t be entrusting the wrong person.

In the afternoon, Brandon Sullivan was watching TV in the living room. Seeing Ruby Sullivan come home, he smiled, "Oh, you’re home early today, Daughter."

"Yes." Ruby Sullivan waved the groceries in her hand, "Tonight, I’m cooking something good for you. It’s been a while since you’ve tasted your daughter’s culinary skills. Do you miss it a bit?"

"Of course, my daughter’s cooking is unparalleled in the world." Brandon Sullivan praised with a smile and casually asked, "How’s the company doing now?"

When Ruby Sullivan heard her father showing concern for the company’s situation, she felt quite pleased and immediately reported to him, "The Sullivan Group’s business has shrunk somewhat in recent years. Now, it’s mainly in cooperation with The Sterling Family. However, today I’ve officially handed over control of the company to a very reliable person. He was previously Ethan Sterling’s confidant, highly capable, and is about to arrange big moves for The Sullivan Group, so I’m confident it’ll improve."

Ruby Sullivan felt her decision was quite shrewd. People can’t excel everywhere; forcing oneself into an unsuitable role not only wastes one’s own time but also hinders others’ careers.

Unexpectedly, Brandon Sullivan’s face suddenly darkened. He turned off the TV with a raised hand and asked incredulously, "What did you say? You handed the company to Ethan Sterling’s confidant? Isn’t that the same as giving it to Ethan Sterling?"

Ruby Sullivan was startled but could understand her father’s reaction. She quickly handed her things to Mama Bennett, sat beside him, and calmly explained, "Dad, you know I don’t have much management ability. So now, finding a suitable CEO for The Sullivan Group is the wisest choice. The Sullivan Group is an old company; the market environment has greatly changed over the years. If The Sullivan Group continues to be complacent, even if Ethan Sterling doesn’t swallow it out of civility, it’ll eventually attract other capital and face acquisition. Rather than being a frog in warm water, I’d rather take a gamble. I trust the capabilities of the CEO taking over, and I trust Ethan Sterling. This is The Sullivan Group’s only way out."

Brandon Sullivan was so angry he was breathing heavily, not listening to a word she said. When she stopped, he flung her hand off his arm and stood up furiously, "If you can’t manage The Sullivan Group, you should have brought your sister back. Now you’re helping outsiders plot against me... are you disappointed I woke up?"

He stormed back to his room, slamming the door loudly.

Ruby Sullivan sat on the sofa, stunned. Disappointed? She colluded with outsiders against him?

She thought of all the hardships she endured, all the grievances she bore, and wanted to ask: Is this awakened man still the father who held her dearly, afraid she’d melt or break in his arms?

Mama Bennett handed her a glass of water, trying to console her: "Master Sullivan has dedicated so much to The Sullivan Group and might not be able to accept this for the time being. Don’t rush; talk to him slowly."

Ruby Sullivan chuckled bitterly, "I understand, just suddenly felt... as if in Dad’s heart, I’m truly less than my sister."

The two little ones came home and immediately noticed their mom was unhappy, and Grandpa was sulking in his room, refusing to come out, unwilling even to see them.

The two pondered for a while but couldn’t get anything out of their mom. Seeing Ethan Sterling enter, they rushed to him, reporting the anomaly at home.

Of course, Seth handled the report, while Honey nodded in agreement beside him, occasionally adding descriptions of Mom’s unhappiness.

"In summary, we think Mom argued with Grandpa," Seth concluded.

Honey nodded repeatedly.

Ethan Sterling listened at the door, picked up his daughter, kissed her, and ruffled his son’s hair, "You both go check on Grandpa; I’ll handle mom."

"Yes, Sir!"

"Yes, Sir!"

The son and daughter replied in unison, saluted, enjoying the tasks Dad assigned. Ethan Sterling put down his daughter, saw Ruby Sullivan peeking out from the kitchen to greet him, and quickly walked over.

"Why are you in such a good mood today?" He smelled the fragrant aroma from the kitchen and signaled the servant helping beside her to leave.

Ruby Sullivan was fiddling with the pot of braised eggplant and said quietly so as not to hurt Mama Bennett’s feelings, "Now I’ll have more time, so I’ll cook more often. The kids prefer my dishes."

Ethan Sterling lifted a hand to wipe the starch off her nose tip, "I like it too."
