Chosen By The Lover's Constellation-Chapter 206: Eternity, Part Seven
Lianna and the girls walked with purpose through the dimly lit streets, their destination clear.
The abandoned building where they’d previously encountered the Seeds of Eternity guild loomed ahead, bathed in the sunlight.
"Stay close," Lianna whispered, her eyes scanning their surroundings. "We don’t know where they might be."
The streets were eerily quiet, and it seemed like few people were out and about. They had to be careful.
Vy was dangerous, and she had to know they were coming.
Caroline, Mel, Zura, and Enverna nodded, their faces set with determination.
They all felt the weight of the moment, knowing that this confrontation could determine their future.
As they reached the building, they saw it was nearly deserted. Only a handful of people lingered near the entrance, casting wary glances at the approaching group.
The girls’ presence did not go unnoticed. Murmurs spread among the onlookers, and a palpable tension filled the air.
"Let’s keep moving," Zura said softly, her voice barely above a whisper. She took the lead, with Caroline and Mel flanking her. Lianna stayed toward the back, her eyes darting around urgently as she tried to spot Vy.
[I have to find her before she finds me. It’s extremely important.]
They hadn’t gone far when Lianna’s heart skipped a beat. Emerging from the shadows, flanked by a group of fighters, was Vy.
The child of mana wasn’t wearing those rags Caroline and Mel had talked about seeing her in before. No, she stood before them wearing a full set of bronze-painted armor.
"Well, well, well," Vy said, her voice dripping with mockery. "Look who decided to pay us another visit. I was beginning to think you’d given up."
Lianna swallowed hard, forcing herself to stay calm.
She took a deep breath and stepped forward, positioning herself slightly ahead of her friends.
"We’re not here to chat, Vy. This ends today."
Vy raised an eyebrow, her smirk widening.
"Big words for someone standing so far behind her friends. Are you scared?"
Lianna’s grip tightened on her bow. She glanced back at her friends, drawing strength from their presence.
"Shut up!" She yelled. "Let’s just get this over with."
The fighters flanking Vy tensed, their hands resting on their weapons.
Lianna, Caroline, Mel, Zura, and Enverna all readied themselves.
Lianna used {Lover’s Intuition}, wanting to provide Enverna with the best method to fight.
But, what she was shown by her spell was odd.
"ENVY, WATCH OUT!"
Suddenly, a man appeared next to Enverna, a blur of motion.
Thanks to Lianna’s instruction, Enverna managed to dodge just in time. The man, tall and dark-skinned, with a gleaming blade in hand, smirked as his attack missed.
"Nareem," Enverna growled, hopping backward to gain some distance. The Merchant Constellation’s follower twirled his blade casually, his eyes glinting with amusement.
"Scurrying away already?" he teased, his voice smooth and mocking. "I expected more from you in particular, Enverna."
Lianna stepped forward, her eyes narrowing.
"Why are you here? Why fight on Vy’s behalf? Do you even know what she plans to do?"
Nareem shrugged, his smirk never wavering.
"Oh, I’m quite clear on that. Vy’s promised me a place in the new world she’s going to create. A place of power and influence. How could I refuse?"
Lianna gritted her teeth, her hands tightening on her bow. She knew that Nareem, too, needed to die today.
"You’re stupid if you think she’ll keep her word."
Nareem laughed, a cold, sharp sound.
"Perhaps. But I prefer to take my chances with the winning side, personally."
On that note, the fight began.
Enverna darted forward, the tip of Storm flashing as she engaged Nareem.
The dark-skinned man met her attacks with ease, his movements fluid and precise.
Caroline, Mel, and Zura moved to flank Vy and her fighters, while Lianna stayed back, her eyes locked on Vy.
Vy smirked, raising her own weapon.
"Ready to dance, traitor?"
Lianna didn’t respond, instead notching an arrow and aiming at Vy.
This was it. The fight that would determine everything.
She needed to be at her very best.
The battle erupted in a chaotic symphony of clashing steel and crackling magic.
Mel stood firm, her hands weaving intricate patterns in the air as she traded spells with the enemy. She alternated between sending projectiles that crackled with arcane energy and erecting protective barriers to shield her friends.
"Stay close!" Mel shouted, launching a barrage of fireballs at a group of advancing foes. The flames exploded on impact, sending them scattering.
Meanwhile, Zura wielded her shield and hammer with ferocity, creating space for Caroline and Enverna to maneuver.
Her hammer swung in wide arcs, smashing into anyone who dared to get too close, while her shield blocked incoming attacks.
"Caroline, go!" Zura bellowed, her shield absorbing a heavy blow as she swung her hammer at another attacker.
Caroline nodded, her eyes locking onto Nareem.
The two clashed in a flurry of swords, their blades dancing in a deadly ballet. Sparks flew as steel met steel, each strike more furious than the last.
"You ended up with an awful matchup," Caroline hissed confidently.
Nareem smirked, deflecting her attack with ease.
"We’ll see about that."
With Caroline keeping Nareem occupied, Enverna and Lianna focused on Vy.
Lianna tried to keep her distance, knowing that Vy couldn’t be allowed to take her abilities.
She fired arrow after arrow, but Vy dodged them with ease, her movements fluid and precise. Enverna stood as a barrier between them as she blocked Vy’s attempts to close the gap.
"You’re not getting to her," Enverna growled, swinging her spear in a wide arc.
Vy sneered, deflecting the blow with her own weapon.
"We’ll see about that," she retorted, her eyes glinting with malice.
Lianna’s heart pounded as she aimed another arrow. Her shots were missing their mark, but Enverna’s defense was holding.
Vy couldn’t get past her, and that was crucial. Lianna knew she had to be patient, waiting for the right moment to strike.
Suddenly, a blur of motion caught her eye. Another enemy had appeared, moving with deadly precision. It was Kate Aligon, the Scoundrel’s follower.
Before anyone could react, Kate lunged at Zura, stabbing her with a dagger. Zura’s eyes widened in shock as she staggered back, the blade slipping out of her back coated in blood, her body freezing up almost instantly.
"Zura!" Lianna cried out, her heart racing.
She used {Target Analysis}.
Zura:
Current Status:
Paralyzed
Before Kate could finish Zura off, a figure barreled into her, shield first.
Athene, the Judicator’s follower, had arrived just in time. She pushed Kate away, her shield glowing with righteous energy.
"Stay back!" Athene shouted, her voice commanding and resolute.
The battlefield seemed to shift.
Lianna could feel it.
The final stage was set.
