Child of Destiny-Chapter 2129: Jillian’s Invitation (Part 2)
...
After the entire day of training, Shin and the rest of the team went to their respective room to log back into the game.
Right after returning to the tower, Shin swiftly went to look for his targets. Even though he knew that trying to assassinate these tanky opponents, he believed that the game would not give a player a challenge that could not be solved.
Assassination was not just about swift and unexpected ambushes, but also efficiency.
When Shin thought about this, he could not help but think of something that might be the answer to this current problem.
From what he could tell, this challenge must want to teach him this very essence.
"Efficiency, huh? Then it must be about some sort of weakness or something," mumbled Shin as he observed the Lizard Warrior from a distance.
He decided to go with his initial plan and target the final guardians of this floor according to the power level that he initially thought about them.
He did not immediately launch an attack, unlike when he assassinated the other targets. Instead, he decided to observe these last four targets, stalking them with full attentiveness.
He wanted to study the habits of these creatures and find their respective weaknesses, if possible.
Well, it was three rather than four. Shin could feel that the Drow Twilight was hiding something. He was not sure what it was, but it was giving an uneasy feeling whenever he observed it from a distance.
Moreover, whenever he was lurking within the vicinity of that Drow’s territory, he felt like being watched by something. It was as if he were the one being observed rather than the other way around.
Because of this, Shin decided to avoid this territory and decided to focus on the other three first before coming back here later when he was done dealing with them.
Shin did not do that much during this entire time within the game, other than observing the three targets that he had and studying their natures and habits.
He had to be patient this time. It was yet another lesson that the second floor’s trial wanted to teach him.
Assassination was not just about taking down his target fast. It was also about patience and discipline.
Thinking about this, Shin could not help but recall the times when he was being trained as a ’Joker’ Agent in the Black Serpent Mafia Training Camp.
"Tsk! Why am I being reminded of it at all times?" Shin clicked his tongue after realizing this.
He then looked at the clock and realized that it was almost time to log out of the game. He could only sigh helplessly when he did not find that much aside from learning a few basic movements and the routine of his targets.
He knew that an assassination had a lot of factors involved in the process, aside from the patience and discipline to make it efficient. These were just a few of the necessary things for an assassination.
The timing, the terrain, and everything else should be considered as well.
This was also where techniques and other abilities would come in play.
Thinking about all these, Shin seemed to have come up with a decent idea on how he would proceed next with this trial.
After finding a safe spot and logging out, Shin immediately did his usual routine.
...
During the meal, everyone learned the details about the operation that the Magic Ace Academy had launched to sweep as many spies as they could.
"Eh!? Wade is also involved!? I wonder how he is doing now," commented Cloe after hearing the details from Lorraine.
"Wade?" asked Arthur, feeling a bit confused.
"Diablo," said Leonard, explaining it to the dumbass who only knew how to steal the spotlight whenever there was an opportunity.
"Oh! That guy! No wonder he was not online last night," said Arthur somewhat nonchalantly.
Hearing such a response, Cloe could not help but scold him. "What’s with that tone!? He is still a member of our Adventurer Team! You should at least show some concern!"
Arthur was about to brush it off with some simple words when Lorraine, who was sitting beside Jilian, suddenly interjected. "See!? See!? That’s how he truly is!"
Hearing this, Arthur could not help but pause. He felt a bit panicked when he saw that Jilian was staring at him with squinting eyes. "W-wait-... that’s-..."
He was about to explain his side when he saw Jilian turn her away resumed eating.
Shin seemed to have recalled something when he looked at Jilian and asked. "Are you still looking for members for that quest of yours?"
Jilian paused for a moment, nodding her head. "Cloe and Lorraine promised me that they will help me. Alice has also said that she can make it, so we are only looking for our last member."
"Is that so?" mumbled Shin before asking. "Have you thought who will be your last member?"
The others were confused why Shin was asking about it. They all knew that most members were busy with their respective businesses in-game, especially these boys, who were still stuck on special maps.
"None for now," responded Jilian calmly.
At this time, Lorraine suddenly chimed in and said. "Let’s not invite any boys for now! All four of us are beautiful girls; it will be awkward if a guy suddenly joins us at the last minute, right? Let’s invite another beauty with us! This can also be considered as a girls’ hangout!
"That’s a good idea! How about we invite Daulla or Huahua?" said Jilian, finding the suggestion quite good.
Even Alice, who was usually quiet among them, could not help but nod her head in agreement. It was clear that she also liked the idea.
"Huahua?" mumbled Cloe before giving Leonard and Arthur a sharp glare. "She can’t go with us. She said that she will continue her quest after being ditched during the last commission."
"Daulla also could not join us since she wants to clear a certain test from the Mage Tower. It seems like it has something to do with her new class," she continued.
Jilian thought for a moment before shaking her head. "Aside from that, they may not fit with the current composition of our team."
"Lorraine is our marksman, along with her special Tier 3 Gunslinger Class," she added.
"It is not your regular gunslinger class! It is the Divine Barrel Class, a unique Epic Class from Conquerors (a branch of Epic Human Race)," corrected Lorraine before adding quite smugly. "It is a unique class, so I am the only one who has it throughout the game! Me! Me, alone!"
She was quite proud of it since she struggled hard just to get this unique Epic Class. Given its unique characteristics, she estimated that it might be among the strongest Epic Classes and could even rival the Transcendent Classes.
Jilian slightly nodded before proceeding. "We also have the best support class. Cloe can already handle that area."
"Then we also have a powerful caster on our side. Alice’s elemental magic is already the best, so I do not think that we will be lacking in terms of magic power either."
"This will leave us with two positions. One is a tank or another melee class, who majors in physical attacks," she added before continuing. "I can somewhat act as a secondary tank given that my Battle Mage Class can be tanky with my defensive magic spells."
Hearing her analysis, the rest immediately nodded their heads in agreement.
"This lineup is indeed a pretty decent one. It is a standard team composition," nodded Shin before adding. "What you truly lacked right now is either a knight or another physical damage dealer."
"Gunslingers can deal mixed damage with their guns. It is the same with your Battle Mage Class, so your team is heavily leaning on magic damage. You need a physical class to balance things out. Preferably, a heavy knight specializing in defense and has decent damage or a bust-type damage dealer such as Rapier-type Duelist, Berserkers, Thieves, or Assassins."
"But if you are going to ask me about this, I suggest that you take someone like thieves and assassins since they have an extremely burst potential. They also have a lot of CC Skills, which can help on multiple occasions."
"Aside from that, they can also scout for you, making it much easier to explore different places."
"Archers can work as well since they have similar kits. But since you have a marksman already, I still suggest a thief or an assassin."
Hearing Shin’s analysis, everyone nodded once again, finding his suggestion agreeable.
"A thief or an assassin, huh? Can we find any good female assassin?" mumbled Lorraine, still stuck with the idea of having an all-girls team for this mission.
"Top female assassin or thief is quite hard to find, but I know quite a few," mumbled Arthur.
But Cloe quickly shook her head and immediately rejected the idea. "But this is supposed to be a team mission of our adventurer team. We have to keep this with us or at least invite someone that we can fully trust."
"Especially when it sounds like an extremely important quest," injected Lorraine.
"A skilled female thief or assassin that we can trust, huh?" mumbled Shin, trying to think as well.
A moment later, he suddenly recalled something, and about an individual who would fit all these criteria. "Ah! I think I know someone!"
"Heh! As if! You don’t have that many friends within the game. How can you know a top-notch female thief-assassin?" Arthur scoffed at first before suddenly grinning evilly, thinking of creating trouble.
"That is, unless you are talking with some chick behind us!" he added, accusing Shin of some sort of secret affair.
Hearing this, everyone snapped their head toward his direction, particularly Cloe, who was currently glaring at Shin.
"Is that true!?" she asked with a somewhat haggard breathing.
From Shin’s perspective, she currently looked like an evil queen who was ready to punish him with a single mistaken word that would come out of his mouth.
He could even see a hot steam coming from her mouth for some reason.
He could only glare at Arthur and curse him hundreds of times before answering. "What are you guys thinking? You all know who I am talking about!"
