Chef at the University Canteen-Chapter 467 - 271: Are You That Jiang Yu from the Seventh Dining Hall? (Part 2)
Jiang Yu walked to the front of the meeting room in a few steps, bowed slightly to the defense teachers, smiled, and then began to speak:
"Good morning, teachers! My name is Jiang Yu, a student from the Philosophy Department of the 2015 class. The title of my thesis is..."
As soon as he finished his opening introduction and was about to further elaborate on his graduation thesis, a teacher below, who looked quite unfamiliar, suddenly interrupted him:
"Are you Jiang Yu? The Jiang Yu from Jiang University Seventh Dining Hall?"
After saying this, he looked up with a curious expression to study Jiang Yu.
This teacher seemed to be about fifty years old, with short gray hair, two thick eyebrows, and bright eyes small in size, looking rather spirited.
Jiang Yu reckoned he had never seen him before, guessing this was an external professor the faculty invited to act as the chief defense officer.
After hearing his question, Jiang Yu was first taken aback, then quickly nodded and replied:
"Yes, teacher, I am Jiang Yu."
"Oh, quite young indeed."
The teacher nodded, then realizing it was a bit inappropriate to say such things in this setting, smiled apologetically at the teachers beside him, and then smiled at Jiang Yu, saying,
"Alright, Xiaojiang, continue."
Although a little bewildered, Jiang Yu wasn’t affected by the unexpected incident and continued to introduce his thesis at his previous pace.
Honestly speaking, although Jiang Yu’s graduation thesis wasn’t highly innovative, its arguments, evidence, and related materials were solidly presented.
After all, he wrote it word by word himself, not like some students nowadays who copy and paste a few things, make some slight modifications, and produce a thesis.
Therefore, when briefly outlining the graduation thesis, Jiang Yu almost didn’t look at the PPT, using only two or three minutes to clearly present the focal points of the thesis.
Finally, Jiang Yu said, "Due to my limited abilities, there are still many issues in my discussion. Please provide valuable opinions, defense teachers. Presentation is complete, thank you!"
Next up was the questioning session by the defense teachers.
This part was the core of the graduation thesis defense; whether you can graduate smoothly depends on whether you can withstand the soul-searching questions of the defense teachers.
During the questioning session, the other defense teachers were from the same faculty and were aware that Jiang Yu had already been admitted for graduate studies, set to pursue a master’s degree in the coming year, naturally weren’t hard on him, asking just a few minor questions and calling it a pass.
But the chief defense teacher, for some reason, not only asked several questions but each was quite tough, making the faculty teachers sitting aside sweat for Jiang Yu.
Fortunately, Jiang Yu answered each question, even though his answers might not be completely right, at least he wasn’t left speechless by the defense teacher’s questioning.
As long as the defense teacher’s questions didn’t leave you stumped, that was victory!
"Xiaojiang, it’s clear you’ve put some thought into this graduation thesis. It’s quite good; it shows that you’ve learned something during these four years and haven’t been idling away."
After Jiang Yu answered the last question, the thick-browed teacher nodded approvingly at him and said,
"You’re able to start an entrepreneurial venture during your studies, and manage a school dining hall so well; it’s truly impressive. I hope you continue to work hard, apply your knowledge, and achieve even greater accomplishments."
After a pause, he smiled at Jiang Yu, waved his hand, and said,
"Alright, your defense is over, go rest for a bit."
"Thank you, teachers!"
Hearing the defense was over, Jiang Yu couldn’t help but let out a long sigh of relief, bowing slightly to the teachers below and quickly walking out of the graduation thesis defense meeting room. 𝒻𝑟𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝑛𝘰𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝘤𝘰𝘮
Once outside the meeting room, Jiang Yu looked up and spotted Wang Xueyi. He started but before he could greet him, Wang Xueyi didn’t look at him, expressionless, pushed the door open, and walked into the meeting room.
Jiang Yu figured Wang Xueyi probably drew the "No. 7" lot, thus his turn was after Jiang Yu.
However, Jiang Yu was still puzzled; he hadn’t wronged him before. When he moved out of the dormitory to rent an apartment, Jiang Yu spent half a day helping him move his luggage and buy daily supplies.
Back then, Wang Xueyi even patted Jiang Yu’s shoulder, smilingly saying, once he gets into Jingcheng University for grad school, he’d treat Jiang Yu to a good meal.
Since then, they hadn’t met for over a year, not until today was the first time to meet again.
Why, looking at him just now, it seemed like Jiang Yu owed him eight million?
Jiang Yu shook his head, not bothering to think about it further; after today, they wouldn’t intersect again, why should he care if Wang Xueyi is happy?
As long as he himself was happy.
With the thesis defense over, Jiang Yu had nothing more to do and didn’t linger in the corridor, heading straight downstairs.
Once downstairs, he realized that a few classmates who had just finished their defense were standing at the entrance of the faculty chatting, occasionally bursting into laughter.
Seeing Jiang Yu coming over, one girl’s eyes lit up, and she gladly approached him, saying:
"Jiang Yu, is it true you said you’d treat us to dinner tonight?"
