Chef at the University Canteen-Chapter 468 - 271: Are You Jiang Yu from the Seventh Dining Hall? (3)
Jiang Yu said with a smile, "Of course it’s true, you all have to remember to come when the time comes."
"Definitely, so many people want to eat the dishes you make, Jiang Yu, but can’t get them. We’re in for a treat this time."
Another girl walked over, blinking her eyes at Jiang Yu, and asked curiously,
"Jiang Yu, since we’re classmates, can you tell me, how did you learn to cook? You’re even better than those chefs who have been cooking for decades!"
"Don’t say that, those chefs are way better than me."
Upon hearing this, Jiang Yu waved his hands continuously and said with a smile,
"The main thing is that the dishes in several of the school cafeterias don’t taste that good, so my cooking just seems better in comparison.
All in all, it’s just ’picking a general from the short ones’."
"Tsk tsk, Jiang Yu, you sure are better at talking now than before."
The first girl couldn’t help but cover her mouth to laugh after hearing Jiang Yu’s words. She seemed to sigh and continued,
"If you had been this eloquent during our classes before, there wouldn’t have been room for anyone else."
Before Jiang Yu could react, she quickly changed the subject,
"By the way, I heard that you’re going to enter our academy for graduate studies next semester?"
"Haha, purely by accident."
Talking about this made Jiang Yu feel a bit embarrassed, because according to his usual grades, he wasn’t eligible for recommendation to graduate studies. But who could blame him for cooking so well and running the Seventh Dining Hall so successfully?
"There’s no accident in this, it’s all the result of your own efforts."
The girl shook her head and said with a look of admiration,
"Otherwise, why wouldn’t such an accident happen to us?"
After chatting casually downstairs with a few classmates for a while, Jiang Yu found an excuse to escape their curious "interrogation" and headed straight toward the Seventh Dining Hall.
The time was still early, and only a few students sat scattered in the dining hall, each on the dining area seats, either reading books, playing on their phones, or having chats while enjoying the air conditioning.
This scene was no stranger to Jiang Yu. Last year, when the weather was hot, some students were already treating the Seventh Dining Hall as a "study room."
Not to mention, they really had quite a sharp mind.
Studying in the cafeteria’s hall meant having air conditioning and fewer disturbances, with more spacious surroundings—much more comfortable than reviewing in the crowded library’s study rooms.
The key point is that when the cafeteria is about to open for meals, they can secure a favorable spot to get ahead in line.
Jiang Yu glanced briefly at the dining area after entering the cafeteria door. Not paying much attention to them, he continued forward, thinking that although there weren’t many reading students now, in a few days it might be just as full as the study room.
As long as those students reading don’t interfere with the cafeteria’s work, Jiang Yu was too lazy to bother with them.
In the first-floor kitchen, Lu Shuwu, Qian Liwei, and others had already started stir-frying dishes—the clattering sounds of pots and pans, the "whirring" of the blower, and various other kitchen sounds mixed together like a kitchen symphony.
Naturally, Jiang Yu wasn’t idle either. He went to the prep room, took a big packet of dried bracken noodles from the ingredients cabinet, and soaked them in warm water.
Then, he cleaned the fresh cucumbers, scallions, garlic, and chili peppers; slicing cucumbers, segmenting scallions, mincing garlic, and chopping chili peppers into small bits.
Having just finished the prep, Ma Guoqiang, who was slicing meat nearby, finally asked,
"Boss, how did the graduation thesis defense go? It must have been smooth, right?"
"It was okay, not sure of specifics yet, it depends on how the defense committee scores."
Jiang Yu replied casually, then gathered the prepared ingredients, fished up the soaked bracken noodles, and left the prep room.
Bringing the various ingredients to the stove, Jiang Yu filled the pot with the appropriate amount of water, brought it to a boil, then added the bracken noodles for a few minutes until he turned off the heat, covered with the lid, allowing them to stew for a while.
Lu Shuwu had just finished frying a dish and was busy serving it out. He quickly glanced at Jiang Yu and exclaimed,
"Bos, when did you come back? Also, what dish are you making?"
"I just got back not long ago."
Jiang Yu glanced at him, his face calm, and said,
"It’s too hot. I’m making a sour and spicy bracken noodle dish. I figure those students with no appetite might like it."
Upon hearing this, Lu Shuwu was nearly drooling and promptly said,
"Boss, don’t say that! Not only will those with no appetite like it, but students with an appetite will like it even more, and I like it too!"
Jiang Yu pursed his lips, "Sour and spicy bracken noodles aren’t difficult to make. If you want to eat, why don’t you make them yourself?"
Lu Shuwu smiled "hehe," "Of course, I can make them, but mine won’t be as tasty as Boss’s!"
Jiang Yu couldn’t be bothered with him. Uncovered the pot lid, he used chopsticks to test the consistency of the bracken noodles, noting they could be easily pinched apart with no hard core remaining. He then fished them all out and immersed them in prepared chilled water nearby.
To make the bracken noodles even more refreshing to bite into, Jiang Yu even added several ice cubes to the chilled water.
