Chasing The Vengeful Villainous Heiress-Chapter 69: We can’t give the gown away no matter what
They had lunch together and after that, went straight to the bridal boutique to get Valerie’s wedding gown.
Tiana didn’t understand fully well what was going on, so Max decided to explain in his own terms while Valerie looked around. 𝘧𝓇𝑒𝑒𝑤ℯ𝑏𝓃𝘰𝑣ℯ𝘭.𝘤ℴ𝘮
She kept her mask on the whole time, not wanting to risk anything.
The gowns were flashy and that was honestly what she was going for, since it had a role to play, but she was considering it a little deeply.
This was going to be her one and only wedding ceremony. And even though they weren’t getting married because they were so madly in love with each other or wanted to spend eternity in each other’s embrace, she wanted to put in effort as it meant a lot to her... Since Max was her partner, haha.
’I feel like I’m getting teased a little these days.’ she thought as she looked around with the attendants. ’My mind isn’t as firm as it used to be. No, I feel it’s still firm when I’m around others but when I’m around Max, I get weak-minded and weak knees as well. I shudder in pleasure, anticipating so much from him.’
She paused and slapped her face. Luckily, the nose mask prevented her from hitting her cheeks too hard and brushing them. She wanted to calm her head but the attendants looked at her like she was crazy.
’I need to get my head straight.’ she thought to herself and raised her gaze to see a very beautiful gown. It was like her breath was taken away with just the first glance.
It was perfect.
She raised her hand and pointed at it.
"That one." She said. "I want that gown."
"Um, ma’am, I think that would be a problem." One of the attendants said and she turned to her.
"And why is that?" She asked.
"That dress already belongs to someone else. I’m sorry but please pick another one." She said in the most polite way possible.
"Hm, if it already belongs to someone, why put it out on display? You’re just making every eye that sees it fawn over it in vain." She said and clicked her tongue.
It was too bad. She fell for the wedding gown as soon as she saw it.
"Do you think she’ll argue for it?" The attendants at the concerned whispered amongst themselves.
"We can’t give the gown away no matter what. It belongs to the young lady from Ross. We’ll be dead if anything happens to it." Valerie’s ear perked up and she turned to look at the attendant.
"Ross?" She asked, folding her arms. "Did you say this gown belongs to Lucy Ross?"
The attendant had this uneasy feeling creeping up her shoulder but she could do nothing but respond accordingly.
"Yes, ma’am. This dress was specially prepared for the lady of Ross Corp. Hence, it cannot be given away, no matter what." She said but only gave Valerie more reason to want to have the gown to herself.
She tapped her finger on her arm, thinking and staring at the gown. There were two things in her mind. One, ruin the dress so none of them have it, and two, take it for herself.
She smirked.
"Oh, I think I heard about it." She suddenly said. "It’s all over the news, right? The wedding arrangement between Ross and Stewart."
Her eyes brimmed bloodily as she glanced away from the gown and towards the attendants.
"Isn’t that right?"
Thanks to her glasses, they weren’t able to see the bloodthirst that was seeping out of her eyes.
But still, they could feel chills from her stare and goosebumps were crawling all over their body.
"Y-yes." She answered with her head bowed.
She didn’t need to be told before knowing. This lady was not one to be looked down on, even when her identity was unknown.
"Hm, it’s really pretty." Valerie said, turning to look at the gown again. "Its artistic value is top-notch and can’t be seen anywhere in this country. I assume it was designed by a foreigner but it’s still so great. This must’ve cost a lot, am I right?"
Once again, they answered accordingly.
"Y-yes." Bowing their head to avoid being seen as showing disrespect.
’I don’t know why but this lady scares me. I feel if I get out of line even by a little bit and annoy her, I’ll get in serious trouble.’ the leading attendant said and slightly raised her head to spy and see what Valerie was doing.
She was still thinking, staring at her wedding gown with a focused pose.
’What is she thinking? I hope she doesn’t want to stir trouble.’
Valerie suddenly turned her gaze and the attendant flinched, bowing her head once more.
Then, Valerie did something strange, she looked back, as if expecting someone to be there and when she did not see who she was looking for, her expression fell and she slightly lowered her head.
She seemed to have forgotten again and was still searching in a space that she would never appear in again.
"I’ve decided." She said and turned, swiping her hair behind her shoulder, and walked back to the customer’s lounge, where Max and Tiana were waiting.
As she opened the door, she met Tiana’s serious gaze and paused, glanced over Max, and wondered if the talk went well.
"Have you made a choice?" Max asked but Valerie was more concerned about the atmosphere she had just walked into.
"Darling." Tiana suddenly called and stood up, approaching her with that serious expression that made Valerie confused.
What did Max tell her? Her eyes widened. Did he perhaps tell her the ’whole’ truth?
"Why didn’t you tell me?" She suddenly asked and stopped in front of her and Valerie pursed her lips.
"You never asked." She simply said in a composed manner, not knowing what the question was directed at. This way, she wasn’t exposing any unnecessary information and she wasn’t keeping silent either.
"Is that so?" Tiana said with her head down and all of a sudden, laughed out, patting Valerie’s back. "Don’t worry, darling. I have your back. From now on, I won’t let this son of mine do unnecessary things and deprive you of your rights as a bride and wife. Haha."
Valerie was beyond confused. It was like she had entered a completely different realm where everything was being spoken in a complex language that she could not understand.
"Eh?"
