Chapter 50: Thank you for the compliment

Valerie was already wearing a dress that was rather suitable for the party. Not that she planned anything grand but she had a hunch that her planned dress for the party would’ve already been ruined.

She sighed and checked her phone. Still no call from Frankie. What was going on? There was no one to ask either. No one... Was on her side.

She tried calling Frankie a few more times and just decided to see for herself what Frankie was up to, that she decided not to answer her calls.

On getting to the mansion, Valerie had to get out of the car at the entrance since the driveway was full. She glanced from one car to another in disdain. 𝒻𝑟ℯℯ𝑤𝑒𝑏𝑛𝘰𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝒸𝑜𝘮

All these hypocritical figures trying to lick her uncle’s feet always gave her a headache.

While walking towards the entrance, she noticed her phone wasn’t with her and she had left it in the car. But by the time she turned around, the car was already gone.

She palmed her face. Everything was on that phone.

She would just have to use the house line to tell him about it. Hopefully, Max would be the one to get her phone in the end.

Entering the mansion, everyone turned to look at her in silence and then started whispering. They were probably talking about how she tried to stab Lucy the previous day.

"Shouldn’t she be locked up? How is she out already?"

"The police these days. A little bribe is all it took to get them to release such a mad girl."

"I can’t believe she would even try to hurt innocent Lucy in broad daylight. She must be crazy."

’You’re the crazy ones for believing her shit.’ Valerie thought and made her way to the house line that was on the far end but as she got there, she got apprehended... As expected.

"You’re so shameless." A lady said to her. She was in the company of two guys, probably thinking Valerie wouldn’t be able to do anything to her if she had men by her side.

"Thank you for the compliment." Valerie said, shocking them. "But can you step aside? I need to use the phone."

"Y-you... Who are you going to call? Your accomplices?" The lady asked but Valerie gave her an uninterested look and asked,

"Does it bother you?"

"What?"

"Does it bother you if I plan to call an accomplice? This is my house and I want to use the phone. How does that concern you? Step aside." Her tone grew harsh and the lady shuddered at Valerie’s eyes on her.

She was scary. But she didn’t want to back down. Not when Lucy was staring. She wanted to leave a favorable impression and get on her good side.

But the only way to get on her good side was to humiliate the evil Valerie.

"No way." The lady said, "If you plan to call your accomplices, then I have more reason to stand in your way. You plan to ruin this party, don’t you? Well, I won’t let you."

All eyes were on them and the lady thought she had finally made a bold stand but she was only irritating Valerie with her annoying words and stupid righteousness.

"Looks like you’ve enjoyed this party quite enough." Valerie said and folded her arms. "You want me to kick you out of my house, don’t you?"

The lady suddenly grew silent and she gulped. She had forgotten that Valerie was still the owner of this house. Forget leaving a favorable impression, she might get kicked out of the party for good.

Just when the lady didn’t know what else to do, Lucy stepped forward.

"Sister," she called with a gentle voice and Valerie glanced over at her. Then, she saw the dress Lucy was wearing and her eyebrows furrowed. This bitch... ’Today is my birthday. And though we might be at odds, can you do me a favor and not cause a scene? Please, don’t make this day go bad for me."

She was asking with a polite tone and gentle composure but Valerie wasn’t listening to any of that and was simply staring at the dress she was wearing.

The pink dress that she thought would never look good on her since it was too soft in color, wondering what Max was thinking buying something so ’cute’, looked like a perfect fit on Lucy.

The fact that she stole her dress and looked great in it pissed her off. And it wasn’t just any dress, It was the dress Maximus had handpicked for her to wear on this day.

’I just thought they would get rid of it.’ Valerie thought, her finger digging into her flesh. ’But to think she would wear it. This pisses me off so much and this is probably what she wants.’

Lucy knew what she was doing when she wore the dress she found in Valerie’s room. After Valerie was taken by the police, she had her people search through the room and she found this beautiful dress in a shopping bag.

It looked like she had just gotten it and was planning to wear it on her birthday but since she was in the station, she would not have any use for it.

And even if she was released, she would like to see Valerie fume and get mad at her for wearing her dress. Then, she would gain everyone’s sympathy by pretending to be innocent of those charges. Everyone would be against Valerie since she just harmed her the previous day and was now making false accusations.

’I don’t know how you manage to get out every time we throw you into prison but I made sure to be prepared this time around.’ Lucy thought. ’Once you walk into your room, it’s game over for you and that ratty and stubborn assistant of yours will act as a great means to finally get rid of you.’

Her lips curled up, just imagining the aftermath of her perfect plan. This time for sure... Valerie will not escape like she always does.
