Chapter 477: Nerio’s Final Attack

Silvanus’s legs were dragged along at a blinding speed. Matthew’s figure ahead flickered in and out of focus, and behind them, the Outer God had clearly thrown caution to the wind—despite this being Matthew’s world.

The surrounding space began to fracture with countless cracks. Silvanus turned his head to look back. Behind them, the cracks spread like a vast spiderweb, and within them, portions of the Outer God’s enormous, grotesque body became faintly visible.

Before Silvanus could say anything, a powerful force suddenly shoved he upward, pushing him into a patch of sky that had yet to be consumed—the only light within this pitch-black expanse.

Silvanus’s eyes widened as he stared at Matthew in shock. Matthew’s gaze met his, looking at he deeply, as though trying to etch the final image of the person he cherished most into his mind. So that even in death, he would never forget.

Then his voice rang out. In the vast emptiness, it seemed lonely—yet strangely resolute:

"I was wrong, Silvanus. And I’ll end this myself."

A streak of light shot upward, completely enveloping Silvanus’s figure. Matthew closed his eyes, then turned back, facing the enemy advancing with unimaginable force...

...

During the surge of power from the high generals of the Dark Legion, Matthew’s Lumin undoubtedly received the most "blessing." It directly doubled in size, and even the portions of its body that had been devoured by Kirin regrew.

Its pitch-black, malicious eyes locked onto Kirin—or more precisely, Nerio on Kirin’s back.

Though Kirin appeared smaller than Lumin, the moment he met that invasive gaze, he let out a thunderous roar. The soundwave generated a fierce gale, as though it could slice apart everything in its path. Lumin winced in pain, narrowing its eyes before lunging at Kirin in a frenzy.

Nerio’s complexion was slightly paler than usual. He had always been very fair; now, it only made his weakness more apparent than ever. One hand lifted to lightly press against his chest. The ice had already spread to his neck—yet the monster still had not been slain...

Nerio narrowed his eyes, as though he had reached a decision. He lifted his hand, and Kirin suddenly dissolved into a misty blue haze, faint and ethereal as it spread around him.

Lumin, charging forward with overwhelming force, was abruptly struck by the vortex of energy that materialized around Nerio and was thrown backward in an instant.

"Boom! Crash!"

Lumin’s massive body slammed into the ground, sending violent tremors through the earth. The shadow creatures crushed beneath it quickly turned into drifting smoke. Enraged, Lumin leapt back to its feet, devouring the surrounding shadow creatures to vent its fury.

Meanwhile, high in the sky, a vast surge of energy was gradually gathering, then continuously radiating outward. Echoes from afar rolled in, sounding as though they had emerged from the void itself.

Cain and Dorian both turned toward the center of the energy almost simultaneously.

At the same time, far away, Alden seemed to sense something as well. His heart pounded with an intensity and speed unlike ever before. He lowered his head. The abnormality in him was so obvious that even Drake could feel it.

Unable to hide his worry, Drake asked, "What’s wrong?"

Alden lifted his head to look at Drake. His gaze was somewhat unfocused. He pressed his lips together, then finally spoke softly, "Let’s go outside, Drake."

Drake stared blankly as a drop of fresh blood slid down from the corner of Alden’s eye like a tear.

"Have you seen something?"

As he spoke, Drake had already lifted Alden into his arms. In the form of a Hobbit, Alden truly looked like a child compared to Drake, who carried him effortlessly.

Before them, overlapping doors appeared. Without hesitation, Drake rushed into them. At the same time, Alden’s small voice rang out:

"Yes... but I—I can change them."

Drake knew that Alden could not reveal anything to him, so in the end he asked no further questions and merely increased his speed.

Outside, after wave upon wave of tremors that made even the sky quake, a colossal figure—so divine that none dared look at it directly—finally appeared. It dragged with it a torrential current like a great flood, sweeping away everything in an instant.

Nick and the others rose into the air in time. Even so, they could see the water surging just beneath them, and the shadow creatures dissolving within it—as though that clear, beautiful water were some terrifying acid. 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝙬𝙚𝓫𝒏𝓸𝓿𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝙤𝓶

At the same time, a vast current of energy continuously radiated outward. They could feel the wounds on their bodies healing in a miraculous way.

Nick stared at the injury that had nearly severed his arm—now completely gone—and looked toward Nerio in astonishment. Nerio was now in an entirely different form.

They could not see him clearly. They only knew it was a merfolk—a gigantic and unimaginably powerful merfolk.

So this was his authority...

Nick could not help but wonder whether Dorian and Marax also possessed such unfathomable powers.

Anyone who stood beside Silvanus was overwhelmingly powerful.

At that moment, the true battle between Lumin and Nerio had only just begun. It sounded slow in the telling, yet everything happened in a flash. The instant Nerio returned to his true form, he raised his hand. A colossal trident appeared within his grasp and was hurled forward with tremendous force.

Kirin’s figure suddenly manifested, coiling around the trident. Together, their power surged, like a strike of death itself descending straight toward Lumin.

Lumin roared. A sphere of darkness shot from its mouth, colliding head-on with the attack. But it was meaningless. Before absolute power, the struggle of an ordinary shadow creature was futile.

The trident cleaved through everything, piercing Lumin’s body with a chilling sound. It did not slow in the slightest, driving straight down into the waters below.

Crack!

In that very instant, the waters beneath them froze over at astonishing speed—then suddenly shattered apart. The shadow creatures trapped within the ice disintegrated into countless shards of frost.

The pitch-black space was stained with a strangely beautiful hue, so unreal that it felt as though two entirely different worlds had abruptly collided before their eyes.

Nick had been watching the light all along. He immediately realized that after that sweeping strike which erased everything in its path, Nerio’s colossal form had also vanished into the radiance.

Nerio was... falling?

Nick almost didn’t hesitate before flying toward him—but a figure was far faster than he was. A pair of crystalline wings flashed past, and Dorian caught Nerio in his arms.

Dorian lowered his gaze. More than half of Nerio’s body had already frozen over; the ice was even about to encroach upon his second eye.

Dorian could only raise his hand, green light spreading over the mottled frost covering Nerio’s body. Even Nerio’s own formidable healing ability could not halt the spread of this thing. The only thing Dorian could do was slow the approach of death.

Cain understood more than Dorian. As long as they returned to the God Nation, Nerio’s injuries would heal automatically. But if Nerio were to die in this world... that would truly become a great problem.

Right now, they could only hope that Silvanus would be faster—and succeed in killing the Outer God.

The moment that thought crossed Cain’s mind, the black hole high in the sky suddenly trembled and shifted. Its energy abruptly gathered inward. The shadow creatures no longer poured out; instead, they began to converge. The form of the Pope, which had been scattered by Nerio’s overwhelming attack, was now reassembling once more.

"Whoosh—whoosh—whoosh!"

Gales shrieked as energy spiraled together like a colossal storm. Some nearby mages, caught off guard, were even swept toward the center of the vortex.

Nana roared, "Get away from the vortex as fast as possible!"

At the same time, the somewhat faded colossal form of Aurellan’s Blade moved to shield the crowd, blocking the deadly winds that stretched their claws toward them.
