Chaos In The Darkness; Salvatores's Salvation-Chapter 81: Bella Rosa and her questions - I
"The Mancini’s?" Evelyn repeated slightly intimidated by the woman in front of a standing tall and proud as if she knew that Evelyn could not harm even a hair on her body. "Do you mean to talk about Aldo?"
"Eh," Bella Rosa shrugged. "I don’t really care about who. I just want to know how they are." 𝚏𝐫𝚎𝗲𝕨𝐞𝐛𝕟𝚘𝐯𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝗺
That was some kind of explanation given to Evelyn. How did she expect Evelyn to give her the kind of answer that she wanted when she could not elaborate her question?
"They are grieving. Aldo’s sudeen accident has left them in shock for sure." If this was not the answer that Bella required then I will truly wonder if it could be that she expected Evelyn to answer.
Evelyn was no means a spy.
"Has it?" Bella cocked a brow up which now seems to be a family trait. "And just so to be clear what kind of state has it left you in?"
Evelyn was gobsmacked. "Me?" She shrieked. "Me?" She said again but this time pointing a finger to herself. What kind of state should it have Evelyn left in?
What were these questions and what was Bella playing at?
"Yes Evelyn, you." Bella rolled her eyes. "It can be awfully slow when you want to be."
Bella sighed and pointed to the sofa, "come let’s sit down and talk," but she did not wait for a while and instead sat down on the sofa herself first.
Evelyn followed her inside down feeling a little awkward. Why was she talking to Bella Rosa? This might be the first time that any of them had bothered to start a conversation and not just use their actions or gestures.
"So?" Bella prompted, "what did you see?"
Evelyn wondered what kind of questioning it was that was going on in between her and Bella.
"Um, I told you before that they are in a grieving environment." Evelyn pointed out. "Also, I was not there for long. It was hardly half an hour." Half an hour might be enough time for a Spy to notice a lot of things but for someone who was away from it all, all Evelyn saw were the decorations of the house.
"Hmm," Bella sighed and leaned on the couch more comfortably. "I am yet to meet the family myself and convey my condolences. My husband knows them well. In fact the elder mancini is my husband’s Godfather."
"Oh," Evelyn understood why Bella Rosa wanted to know what was going on with the family.
"I think you should ask your brother. The don seems to know what’s going on with them." Evelyn dutifully provided her the information that she knew. It might have been a small taunt but it could be the one that people could ignore.
Bella laughed heartily at that. "Of course he does. Salvatore just seems to know everything going inside and out of any family. But shh," Bella placed a finger on her lips and shushed, "don’t tell anyone I said that." She winked.
The wink made Evelyn giggle.
"Seriously, I’m not joking about it," Bella shook her head a Little, "people would assume it is us to be the gossip moggler, it’s my brother who just happens to know everything going around. He knows it even before I do."
Evelyn lowered her head and giggled. The sister knew how to make fun of her brother without insulting him outrightly.
"Anyway, moving on," Bella sobered up, "since the family is my husband’s god family, I want to know something. Is it true that you are going to get married to Aldo?"
Evelyn’s eyebrows shot up immediately at the question. Of Course Bella Rosa had heard something. Why would she ever come here and question Evelyn out of the blue?
There was no reason for Bella to come all the way to Evelyn just to ask how the atmosphere in the Mancini home had been like.
A rumour it was, Evelyn wanted to say first but then she realised that that was not what Bella wanted to hear. If Bella knew that this was a rumour she wouldn’t have asked Evelyn which only meant that Bella knew that there was some kind of reality to it.
"It was suggested by Aldo’s father."
Bella tilted her head. "So, Carlo Bianchi denied?"
Evelyn first went ahead to nod but then I thought of shaking her head and ended up struggling. It was a mix of both.
"My father did not really like the fight that I was going to marry someone on his word. He wanted me to fall in love."
"What a father he was," Bella murmured, "such a shame that he had to die so soon."
It was. Evelyn agreed to that. She would drink to that.
"Is there anything else you want to ask me?" Evelyn felt herself being tired and wanted to go to bed which is why finishing this conversation before doing that was important. The looks of it Bella had something to say.
"Actually yes." Bella clapped her hands as a moc show of enthusiasm before rubbing her thighs. "Did you have feelings for Aldo?"
If the question was not enough, Bella continued, "I understand that you have been kept inside the walls of your house and it is understandable that when you first see a well dressed and eligible man for you to marry you would develop feelings for him. Even if it is merely an attraction. So did you Evelyn, did you develop feelings for Aldo?"
Did she?
Now Evelyn was not sure if he knew the answer to that.
Feelings were something that she was not sure about. However attraction, attraction it could be.
Evelyn chose to answer diplomatically. "I don’t know. Even if I have them, they were the attractions of imamateur girl, Bella Rosa."
"Uh huh," Bella said but Evelyn could see that she did not believe the answer given to her. "My questions still stands to be answered that is if the young and immature girl is still there."
