Chapter 82: Bella Rosa and her questions- II

"Uh-huh," Bella said but Evelyn could see that she did not believe the answer given to her. "My question still stands to be answered if the young and immature girl is still there."

What’s even a correct answer to that question? No matter how immature or mature Evelyn had been in her life it had all been a part of her and to tell someone that that part was no longer inside her would be a lie.

But there was also some truth that Evelyn was no longer controlled by that part of her. She could rationalize as much as she wanted and did not care about the feelings and affections she had for someone.

"I can tell you that that girl is still a part of me but she no longer controls anything." Evelyn answered with carefully chosen words. "If that is what you want to hear then here it is."

Bella nodded her head animatedly and Evelyn found herself slightly scowling at the action.

"I’ll take your word for it," Bella gave her a charming smile, "but I wonder what you are saying of your future husband. Is he going to be anything like Aldo or is he going to be a man that is going to be a tech expert or a software engineer and going to give you a house with white fences, French doors and two dogs?"

Evelyn really cannot pin point her finger. "I don’t understand why we have to talk about my future husband when we have met for the first time and actually sat down to talk."

Bella Rosa had to be here for a reason otherwise she would not go for mindless chatter about her husband. There had to be some plan going on.

"Why can’t we talk about your future husband?" Bella tilted her head to decide and asked in such an amused voice that it irked Evelyn. "I am married, you are not. If anything we could be the perfect gossip girls."

Perfect Gossip girls? The word certainly did not suit the both of them and the family that they came from.

Evelyn needed to clear her mind but with the grey eyes watching her constantly and with utmost scrutiny she realised that she could not do it in front of Bella. She had to get out.

"Is there something I can help you with?" Evelyn stood up and fixed her dress before going to the kitchen to start with the coffee. "The show was prepared with a variety of pastries. Would you like to have some?"

Evelyn glanced back to see Bella arriving in the kitchen very lazily. The way Bella walked was like a panther walking to its prey knowing that they would never get away from it.

The same predicament that Evelyn was in.

"The chef made pastries?" Bella sat on top of the counter while holding half of a weight and living to the side by her hand. "Well, serve me too because I just dealt with the tantrum of my children."

Evelyn did as told but with much leisure and laziness. She gained enough time to get her mind in the clear.

Bella was not here for anything minor. She was just playing with her at the moment but what Evelyn did not understand was why.

There was something going on.

Had Salvatore put her up to this?

After heating it up slightly so that the taste would be even more divine and Evelyn served it to her with some coffee.

"Thank you," Bella took it from her, "every moment spent when the kids are sleeping is heaven." She groaned out and Evelyn nodded.

By the way, Bella Rosa said Evelyn could not think about having kids for now.

The lift doors opened with a ping and Evelyn’s attention went there immediately. She knew that it was around before lunch in the afternoon and it was not at the time for anyone to enter and the Guards and the staff took different lifts.

It was Salvatore.

So he and his sister would both be going to be here? 𝐟𝚛𝕖𝚎𝕨𝗲𝐛𝚗𝐨𝐯𝐞𝕝.𝐜𝗼𝗺

"Hey, Salvi!" Bella chirped from the counter that she was sitting on top of, waving her hand to her brother.

Salvatore sent a disapproving look her way. "Can you get down from the counter? Did you realise that you are 29 in age?"

Bella scoffed. "The wrinkles are proof of it alone. You don’t need to say it to my face every time we meet each other."

She took a huge bite of the pastry making Salvatore hiss in irritation and Evelyn’s eyes darted in between the both of them.

Bella definitely knew how to annoy Salvatore and this time he could not hold his emotions back. His eyes were enrolled at his sister in irritation and Evelyn could also see him clenching his fists.

"Hey Salvi," Bella swung her legs in the air, " have you heard about the rumour where Evelyn was supposed to marry Aldo? I can only imagine how bad Evelyn must have felt knowing that she was not aware of his accident."

What. The. Fuck.

What was wrong with Bella Rosa. Evelyn paled as her eyes darted from Bella Rosa to Salvatore who was looking at her with a blank expression on his face. She would rather take the irritation that he had shown Bella instead of the blank expressions that he was giving her.

She licked her lips and took a step back. Evelyn did not understand what she was supposed to do in this situation. It was a rumour because it had happened only once. No other family members, from both sides, ever proceeded to talk about the matter again. So it had been buried in the ground.

"Is it true?" Salvatore asked very calmly, making Evelyn think for a second that he had not taken it in the wrong way. After all, why would he?

"Um. . .well. . .yes and no?"

Shit, that was the worst of what she could say.

Salvatore cocked a brow up just like his sister did on the side. "Yes and no, Evelyn? It is supposed to be yes or no. Give me the answer in one word."

The don who never seems to be a man of words surely had no problem speaking long sentences in front of her.

She gulped. "Well, yes." Evelyn bravely answered. "Aldo’s father had suggested but my father refused and it was just asked once. So. . So supposed to be marrying him is a rumour."

Half of it actually was true. The proposal was there but the alleged future marriage was a rumour.

"Really?" Salvatore muttered under his breath.

" Uh huh," Bella roza nodded her head, "Evelyn even says that she has no affection for Aldo. Don’t you ever Evelyn?"

Evelyn looked at Bella Rosa in shock with her mouth open. She opened and closed it repeatedly like a fish because he was aware of Salvatore looking at her and he definitely wanted her to elaborate.

"He is handsome." She said defensively for her friend.

"Well, so is my brother." Bella Rosa sang from where she sat and ate her second pastry.

Evelyn looked at Bella again and this time with fear and shock. What did she want? Did she won’t Evelyn to jump off from the window because Evelyn would not hesitate to do that now.

Evelyn looked at Salvatore, "Um . . Yes, don is handsome as well . .?" She waited for his approval for what she had said. Everyone had no idea what these siblings wanted!

What did they want and why were they troubling Evelyn!

"Do you really have to take it down that road, Bella?" Salvatore turned his eyes to his sister. "Why don’t you take a nap with the kids?"

The younger sister by a minute did not hide her frown but that did not stop the don from continuing to talk.

"Don’t try to patronise Evelyn or scare her—and I know what you’re doing," the don gave her a pointed look just as opened her mouth to intervene, "ask what you want to ask straightforwardly and then go home."

"Well," Bella sighed, "do you mind watching the kids for the weekend? I was going to hire a nanny but the kids want to stay here with their favourite uncle. I have taken it up with Alfonso and he is ready to make the changes in your schedule if you say yes."

Evelyn wondered what kind of relationship the children have with their uncle because their uncle was hardly a man of words. The only thing that this man could do was to take care of a gun or probably how to make someone bleed or kill someone within seconds which was hardly interesting to children.

But then again they were also Alessandro children so Evelyn doubted what kind of hobbies they actually had.

Salvatore glanced at the roof for a moment and Evelyn wondered if he was contemplating what to do.

"I won’t be able to give them Saturday morning so tell them that Marcelo will be coming then. They would have Friday night and a whole Sunday with me." Salvatore moved his eyes from his sister and looked at Evelyn. "Evelyn would be here as well."

Evelyn’s eyes bulged out. Well if the Don had decided that Evelyn was going to be here what else could Evelyn do other than being here?!
