Chaos In The Darkness; Salvatores's Salvation-Chapter 68: A safe place?
They were adults and that was the problem.
Adults did adult stuff that children did not do.
Evelyn did not want to sleep. It was the farthest thing onnher mind.
Adrenaline was pumping through and she knew she won’t be able to sleep.
She huffed before glancing at the sofa and then at the door of the room where Salvatore had disappeared into.
Where to go?
The sofa would be comfortable but with one look over to the door Evelyn realiser something else.
If she was with Salvatore he would be able to protect her and if she was here, on the sofa, she could die and might from the first gunshot fired.
If there was another attack and she was here on the couch, she was definitely going to die.
Without a word of another thought and complentation, Evelyn moved to the door and stood in front of it. She knocked on it first.
"Come in," he said, "you don’t need to ask for permission every time for tonight."
Evelyn gulped and placed herbhand over the knob before twisting it. The door opened and she walked in but did not look in and turned around to close the door.
She now turned around and saw him looking at his phone while staring at the phone in his hands. He was slouching and she knew that he was stressed.
"Did you come to know anything about the attack?" She asked him very softly, not wanting to add more stress to him by her expectations and answers.
"No," he did not look at her when he said that but typed on his phone furiously.
"Oh, okay." She was not getting any answers from him.
Even if she was in the protection of the family, she was still not considered a member of the organisation. Evelyne would either have to marry into the organisation or be a sworn member.
Neither of those she wanted to do.
He was sitting on the right side of the bed so she moved to the left having left with no other option.
Evelyn sat on the bed very gently. Salvatore did not move as the mattress moved slightly. Evelyn then proceeded to shift to the head of the bed before lying down.
Closing her eyes tightly, she turned to face the wall and showed her back to the Don. She prayed for sleep.
******
She felt the warm surface under her and that made her smile. How long had it been for her to sleep like this?
Evelyn had not been this comfortable for a long time. It was so warm and cuddly.
Raising her head she glanced at what it was. She narrowed her eyes on no one in particular. She couldn’t see anything in the dark. 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝚠𝚎𝚋𝗻𝗼𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝚘𝐦
Why is this so dark?
Huffing slightly, Evelyn just moved back down and lied on the warm surface. How lovely it was.

The next time Evelyn woke up, she looked at the empty space next to her before sighing in relief.
"Good morning Evelyn," she murmured in wonder. What a night had it been.
She rubbed her hand over her eyes. Evelyn could not believe that she had been attacked last night.
As compared to last night, Evelyn could definitely think better. The adrenaline had worn off and the fear was washed out of her system.
This had happened for the first time in her life. She had never been attacked in her life. Her father, yes, he had been attacked many times but it was never her.
Carlo Bianchi’s daughter was protected with the most trained men inside the house for almost all of her life and with Salvatore D’alessandro she had been attacked and had been in the presence of dead bodies.
Even though her father’s profession revolved around killing people on a daily basis, she had never seen bodies or even a sick person but after staring into the eyes of sick person Evelyn could feel her insides churning in horror.
Was she even safe here?
She got up from the bed and moved to the bathroom. The first thing I did was to wash her face and brush her teeth before wearing a bra.
According to last night, from what Lucas had said, he was going to have an early morning shift and since the attack had been on them last night, Salvatore would be out as well. So it was a win win situation for her as she would be alone.
Opening the door, she stopped at the threshold of it and carefully analysed the surroundings of the small apartment.
There was no one there as she looked around once more before stepping out. She walked into the kitchen. Now she had to find the utensils.
"Good morning,"
She jumped with a gasp and turned around to find Lucas standing behind the counter. He was watching her with a tilt of her head.
"G-ood morning," she whispered back. Where did he come from?
He nodded back at her. "Do you want something to drink? Or breakfast?"
He was staying here? "Uh, you said that you had a shift?"
"Want to get rid of me so soon?" He chuckled and she frantically shook her head.
"Well," he sighed and sat on the counter, "Salvatore wanted me to stay with you and not a guard. So he very conveniently, like a loving brother," she could get every drop of his sarcasm, "gave me two days off."
Two days?
"We are staying here for two days?"
Lucas gave her a careless shrug. "I don’t really know. He could have done more." He said as he kept his eyes on her.
It unnerved her. Why was he staring at her? What did he want?
Lucas got off the coutner and moved into the kitchen. Clapping his hands he gave them a good rub before asking, "Breakfast?"
She nodded and as he turned she took the seat in on the counter like he had done previously.
"How do you feel?" He asked as he took out something from the fridge.
"Okay." She answered.
"Really?" Lucas turned to glance at her before moving to look to on what he was supposed to do. "you do not feel any pain anywhere? Even slightly?"
Evelyn subconsciously rubbed her upper arms. She did not really feel anything for now. "No, I don’t." She answered him again.
"Guess that’s good," he nodded to himself, "if you do, tell me first."
"Why?" Evelyn couldn’t help herself but ask. "Should I not just take some painkillers?"
Lucas stopped what he was doing and turned to her. The mere need for him to stop what he was doing just to turn around and look at her made Evelyn rethink her words and what they could mean.
"No," said he, firmly with a face that meant that is where to set in stone, "you do not take any kind of painkillers that you will find here on your own. Infact, if you feel even a little bit of headache you come to me directly. Is that clear?"
What does that mean? What kind of medicines did he had in his house?
"Okay." Evelyn agreed to these terms and conditions fbecause of the look that he was giving her it was obvious that if he did not even find a way to make a tree.
The Alessandro brothers may be overall different personalities but at the end of the day devar or similar or even exactly same when did you came to getting something done according to the way they wanted.
Lucas turned to tend to what he was keeping on the stove to get up while completely ignoring her presence.
The eldest sibling did not have any problem in keeping the silence as it was and did not bother to fill it up with small talk which Evelyn would have appreciated but at this moment she would rather have him asking questions.
"So," if he could not ask her questions that she would ask them, "does know who attacked him last night?"
Lucas replied very comedy and with no hurry whatsoever. "He does know, I think by now. If he does not then I think by an hour or two he would."
That meant that don was going to get answers and the way that he was going to do it by, Evelyn did not want know anything about it.
"Uff," she huffed under her breath. The most hit for thing about the entire situation was she could not know anything for sure and if she wanted to know she have to dig in too deep.
"Here," he placed everything on a plate and kept placed in front of a on the counter.
Evelyn thanked him and dug I’m not wanting to be seemed as a rude person who was I’m grateful for the food he could for her.
After sometime she started to play with the food on her plate before finally deciding to ask him what was on her mind.
"Lucas," she began, "do you think that I am safe here?"
