Chaos In The Darkness; Salvatores's Salvation-Chapter 67: An attack on the house- II
Evelyn felt slightly uncomfortable. Her neck felt strained and the angle was raided up more than usual.
She heard something and finally caught onto it slowly and slowly.
". . .I need those men to be taken care of."
Who?
"Find those who are alive and take them in. You know what to do until I come in the morning." That was Salvatore.
Alive? Morning?
She did not open her eyes immediately but continued to listen.
"Send someone in to assess the damage and for the repairs. I want it to be done by the end of the week."
"Yes, Don."
She heard the army of men, which she assumed, walk away. The door closed and even though Evelyn had not opened her eyes she knew that now she was alone with the Don.
"You can open your eyes Evelyn," he said, making her open them in an instant.
Evelyn looked straight at the coffee table before her eyes went to the man standing next to it.
She moved her eyes from the knees of the man and slowly moved them up trailing on each body part that was possible to have before meeting his eyes and keeping her eyes there.
"Yes, don?" She squeaked like a little scared mouse before taking notice of what was on his face.
Blood.
Blood was scattered on him.
She gulped as the drops of blood on his face made him seem like a devil and not only that, there were splashes of blood on his clothes and even on the chest.
Every limb of his had blood. It was a accessory to the Don. It added to his daunting appearance.
"What happened?" Because what she remembered was hearing the glass scatter and then being thrown to the ground with the constant weight on top of her. Then Evelyn distinctly remembered the body of the dead man whose dead eyes stared into her soul.
What had happened?
"An attack," he answered and sat on the coffee table.
"Attack?" She repeated in astonishment. "In your house?" How was that possible?!
How was that that had even thought of attacking his house much less done it?
Instead of giving her the reaction she expected from him, he chuckled. "No one is immune to attacks on them, especially Dons with power. Imbeciles like these will always try to achieve the top position which is, quite literally, impossible."
Someone attacked the Don’s house, the words rang in her mind.
"Evelyn?" Salvatore flicked her forehead making her flinch and stare at him incredulously. "What’s up with you?"
"N-nothing," she stuttered and sat up, "nothing at all."
"Is it?" He repeated. "It is completely normal to be scared."
Was she scared? She was not just scared but she was out of her damn mind at that moment. Evelyn had never been in between an attack. Sure, she had heard of one but has she ever witnessed one by being in the middle of one herself; no, never.
She gulped and looked around the room. Her eyes sweep past the dining table accessing the damage before turning it back on again. The glass seemed to be clear. And that’s when she noticed. That was the glass that had been smashed and what she had heard!
"Holy shit!" She gaped at the broken wall of glass. They had come through there?!
Salvatore seemed to have caught on. "Ah, yes," he murmured, glancing at the blank wall where once they all stood, "Clever shit that was. However, my mistake. I should have gotten the unbreakable one."
Evelyn, astounded again, looked at the don. Did a Don just admit his mistake?
Was this a special Don? Because they never did that and if anyone else did it for them, sufficient to say that they did not have their tongue tomorrow.
She gulped and nodded, agreeing with him on his mistake like he said. "So, what now?" Where were they staying? Were they even safe here? Where did the dead bodies go? Were all of them killed? How many were there? Are they still here?
So many questions were in her mind but Evelyn could not ask them. She was scared.
"Now," he sighed and took her hand in his and kept their entangled fingers over his knee, " we are going to stay somewhere else. In Lucas’s house. He lives two floors beneath mine and his house is being checked."
"Checked?" What did that mean?
He tightened his hold over her hand. "Evelyn, we have to see if he is safe to begin with. I am staying here with you in case you woke up and panicked on finding yourself alone."
She gulped and glanced at the corner of the room. " Should we go now?"
Evelyn wanted a change of place. This one seemed to be too horrifying.
She watched him for any kind of reaction, to see if he was going to be reject her idea or not.
Salvatore stood of without a word and pulled her to her feet before walking very slowly to the lift and pressing the number two floors below them.
He took her, as he said, to floors below them. Lucas was standing outside with a gun in his hand.
"Salvatore," Lucas bridged the gap in between them just as he so and noticed the presence of his brother, "you okay?" He asked in a concern to voice an effort and Evelyn could see the relationship between the brothers.
Salvatore gave him a sharp nod. "I am." Then his eyes moved to Evelyn and Lucas also followed.
"Are you alright Evelyn?" Lucas asked just as concerned as he with his brother and ran his eyes a few times over her body to make sure if it himself even before level and have the chance to answer him.
"I am." Evelyn told him honestly. Though a little bit of her cheek had started to hurt making her question her choice of answer. why was her cheek hurting?
"Good,_ Lucas muttered and nodded before he looked at his brother, "Mind feeling me up to what the noises were upstairs? What happened, Salvatore?"
"There was an attack on me." Salvatore revealed if I did not accept him in the slightest. "It has been dealt with." He later on added.
Evelyn knew that attacks must be something that did not affect the Don anymore but was not shaken up by it is a little bit?
This was scary.
"And?" Lucas prompted. "Any hurt?"
"None from my side," Salvatore smirked, "And those bastards would not be receiving any kind of treatment from me."
They should not and and Evelyn agreed on that. They were stupid and more stupid to attack in the night and just ruin her sleep.
She was not even sure if she would be able to sleep again!
"Come on in," Lucas said as he was turned to his side and then faced them again, "my house is clear and there if going to be extra security."
They would be stupid to attack again if they wanted to too. Twice in a night was either a good strategic plan or just plain stupidity and the latter weighed more here.
Salvatore has not let go of her hand and she noticed that when he had started to pull her again. This time he led her into the house of his brother.
Lucas’s apartment was nothing like Salvatore’s and she noticed that immediately. Salvatore’s apartment was not showy or extravagant but something was out together but a good and experienced decorator.
However, Lucas’s apartment was plain. It wa slike the man lived here but only on a temporary basis. There were no personal touches and seemed like except a few things, the apartment was as it came. 𝐟𝐫𝕖𝗲𝘄𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝕧𝐞𝚕.𝕔𝕠𝐦
"Welcome to my humble abode," Lucas waved his hands around, "I have two rooms." He raised his fingers which were middle and index.
"now," he continued, "I have a shift in two hours at most three. So I need to go to sleep which leaves you two to decide which one sleeps where." He gave them a grin, "The doctor is going to sleep. Kindly, do not make any noise."
He did not give them another glance Before turning around and walking to his room. He did not even hesistate before closing the door to his room.
Now, Evelyn and Salvatore stood in the middle of the middle room silently as they watched the door that was just closed.
Now, they has to decide on the sleeping chart.
Evelyn looked at the sofa, "This looks comfortable to me. I can tak—"
"No," he huffed, annoyed at her suggestion, "you are not sleeping on a fucking sofa."
His crude language did not affect her at the moment. She has been through too much for tonight.
"Then," she asked him, point blank, "what do we do?"
"We are adult’s Evelyn," Salvatore took her hand and walked to where the second room was, "I think we can sleep in a bed just fine."
