Chapter 213: A new enemy - II

A week passed and she had heard nothing from anyone about the rat situation or about Arabella.

She sat in the kitchen nursing a glass of wine, good wine that she had finally received after ages and was taking her speech time in drinking it.

"Hey," Alexis poured herself a glass. "Good or sad?"

"Confused." She answered honestly.

"Hmm," Alexis took a sip. "I thought you would say to sleep but okay."

Ah, yes. It had been three days since she had been off the sleeping pills and most of the painkillers. Sometimes she found it difficult to fall asleep because being attacked twice did not sit well with anyone.

Evelyn shrugged. "Honestly I just thought of raiding your cellar for some good wine."

Alexis laughed loudly, "don’t let Angelo hear that. He heads when anyone comes into his cellar unannounced. He actually put a lock on when Salvatore and Bella were growing up."

"Why?"

"They stole." Alexis took a long step leisurely. "The problem was, the wine cellar was so huge no one would know if anything was out of stock and when Angelo would find out, on the day it was needed, he flipped."

With her sigh, she shook her head. "It was fun to watch them but heads with each other. It was because it looked like he was fighting with himself in different versions."

Evelyn laughed, feeling unable to control herself at this point. There was no way she could imagine Angelo trying to deal with two different versions of himself that were teenagers.

It was after finishing her second glass that Alexis left and Evelyn was left with her thoughts.

Anything that she would catch from others talking about it was in a fleeting moment and once they realised that she was there, would stop talking all together.

So she knew nothing about what was going on around her world.

Now she was waiting in her room with the door open. Salvatore usually came late in the night and we will occupy the armchair at the far end of the room.

The best option she had was to tackle him when he changed in so that she will not have to wake him up when he would be sleeping and also awaken her guilty conscience.

She continued to stare at the armchair wondering, her phone was in her pocket. Slowly her thoughts started to move into one another and before she knew it, Evelyn fell asleep.

Her eyes moved as her consciousness came back. The surface underneath her was cold and hard instead of comfortable and fluffy.

In fact she found it hard to open her eyes. Her heart stopped for a second when she realised that it was not hard to open her eyes but some kind of restraint that was keeping them closed.

She was on the floor but it was obvious that she was not inside the Alessandro house. Almost every room that was occupied there had been carpeted, meaning she was not in her own room and its was not a sexual play by Salvatore.

The most likely situation that she could think of was the first one to happen at the moment.

"She’s moving," she heard someone say from a distance. "She’s up."

"Could be dreaming and shit," she heard a Tut. "Check."

If possible, she would widen her eyes but given what the situation was, she just admitted. "I’m up." As if she’d ever give them the chance of touching her.

"See?" He cackled. "Told you she is up."

Evelyn gulped. How many are there in the room? By far she had only heard the voices of two men.

"What now?" The first man asked. "Do we call the boss because she is awake?"

Boss? What boss?

"Rossi?" He huffed. "We should wait for the morning. He would be pissed if we woke him up."

Rossi? What was first started? Evelyn had never heard of the Rosi family till now meaning either it was relatively new or they had been low-key.

Even if she put pressure on her mind and carefully thought about who this Rosi person was, he was certainly not one of the allies of Salvatore or his father.

And what kind of boss was he, who was not ready to be woken up in the middle of the night?

But, if he was not an Ally, and she was in the basement surrounding people that were talking about him and this was not at all good.

"Who..who is behind this?"

"Rossi," he snickered, "did you not hear what we just said?"

For the first time, she felt like smacking someone across the head. What kind of idiot person this was?

"I do not know who you are talking about, I have never heard of anyone from the process family. So could you tell me the name?"

"Fine." He spat, quite viciously but since Evelyn could not see a was leveled. "Matteo Rossi. Got it?"

Nope, she did not. Who was Mateo Rossi?

It must have taken him a lot of manpower and quite a lot of people on the inside of salvatores organisation to actually be able to capture her, one of the most protected people. So obviously, Matteo Rossi was a prominent player.

"It’s been quite hard to lure you out." He said, and it was more like a taunt with pride surpassing every emotion. "Do you know how hard it was to figure out your location for the past two years? The don has certainly kept you on a tight leash."

Kept her on a tight leash? It had been quite the opposite actually. She has been out in the open without a collar on her.

"What does Matteo Rossi want?" Her voice was firm, more than what she had never imagined it to be. "Why has he kidnapped me?"

"Is this bitch serious?" She heard one of the men ask the other one incredulously. "She talks to us as we know what’s going on."

They did not? Then the most possible explanation that Evelyn could have, was that these men were on the lower level.

They were either handymen or the soldiers looking for a promotion and willing to do the dirty work. But there was also the possibility that they could be hired from the outside so that when killed, there would be no traces left.

"Can you take off the blindfold?" She bravely bartered. "My hands and feet are tied." She even wiggled them for emphasis. There was no getting out of it.

"Yeah?" One of them sneered, "maybe we should take out a sock and stuff from the mouth with it. Keeps on fucking going on and on."

Shit, she probably pushed too far.

A pull came at her hair making her yell in pain. The person made his set in an upright position by pulling her hair before she felt someone touch the temple of her head and take off the blindfold.

An unkept face came in front of her and it was obvious that this man was a kidnapper along with the other one that was standing behind in her line of vision.

"You happy?" He smiled sarcastically, "if you don’t shut up then I’m going to put that mouth to good use and I assure you, you won’t like it."

Well, what more could ever Evelyn say to that?

He let her go and recently shifted so that she was in a position to sit upright just like how he had left her.

Both of them were sitting on a table in a huge room that might be a warehouse or some kind of shop now left unoccupied. They were sitting on a plastic table and chair set and were playing cards.

If they were not in a hurry, then she was not going to get taken to the boss anytime soon.

There was only one door to exit and that was right beside the table and chair that her two kidnappers had been occupying.

Other than that there was no way that anyone could enter or exit. This has to be a basement. Because it was a shop it would have one more exit, probably at the back where she was but it would be there.

She knew enough by working in a Diner that two entrances and exits were essential and were always planned.

She was almost amazed at how calm she was. Growing up in a home that was tightly secured Evelyn wondered how she would behave in case she got attacked. Would it be a scenario like it was in the movies or would she be unconscious the whole time before her father came and got her? 𝐟𝚛𝕖𝚎𝕨𝗲𝐛𝚗𝐨𝐯𝐞𝕝.𝐜𝗼𝗺

On the other hand she was calm and rational. Maybe Salvatore was rubbing off her and she was thinking through and not acting rationally. If she was conscious enough to know what was going, then surely only going to benefit her.

Who the hell was Matteo Rossi?
