Chaos In The Darkness; Salvatores's Salvation-Chapter 178: A naive mistake - II
Her smile vanished within seconds and Evelyn was not even smiling in the first place. She felt her muscles contract at the words she said and for a moment she felt her entire world pause.
"Wh-what?" She mumbled and swallowed to soothe and calm her dry throat. "What did you just say?"
He nodded with a little smirk on his face. "Yes. Arabella, her name is."
It was her name. Evelyn released a shaky breath as she felt her muscles tightened. That was her daughter’s name.
"Seriously, how stupid could you have been Evelyn?" He chuckled at the taunt. " Not only did you kidnap me, your brother in law and one of the family members of the Alessandro organisation, you placed me in the room that you were going to sleep with your daughter in. Can you imagine what would have happened if I had gotten out of these restraints?"
"I-I," she stammered as her wide eyes remained on his face. "I.."
"You didn’t," he concluded for her. "because of which I know a lot."
He did.
Shit, he did. She closed her eyes at the horror. One of them knew about Arabella and if she killed him..
Her eyes snapped open and his eyes narrowed.
It was not just one mistake that she had made regarding this matter. Evelyn had forgotten about something very important and something that should have been remembered last night.
Evelyn should have taken care of this right away in the middle of the night when she had the chance to. Now it might be dangerous but it was also late and if he did not do it now.. she could only imagine what was the worst thing to happen.
Without thinking of this man for any longer, Evelyn placed the ball down on the floor before she grabbed the cloth ball that she had used to get him and placed it in his mouth again effectively silencing the man before she closed the cupboard and locked it.
The next thing she did was to run to the other side of the room near the bathroom where the laundry was done.
There was a small area in between the washing machine and the wall and in that empty space she had kept every piece of jewellery or accessory that Marcelo had been wearing.
Evelyn bent down and pulled it in a go before she wore her jacket and ran out of the apartment building.
She was no runner. Even though in her life or Evelyn was running from her problems she was never good at doing it in physical terms.
But this time she did not stop.
People must have wondered what was wrong with this woman who was running faster than them at a speed that was clearly not meant for a given that she was huffing and puffing and wheezing like a dying animal but Evelyn did not care.
When she stopped it was at the small body area that had been preserved by the people as a park where they could take long walks.
It was not much, just like the central park where people could go for a walk and enjoy the beauty of nature but much, much smaller than that.
Very, very small. But enough for her to hide something is very cautious.
There was no one at the park this time. Parents were usually at work and children were usually at either daycare or schools which made it the perfect time for her.
In the need of finding a remote corner, she went inside the park- cum - woody sanctuary.
Once Evelyn had reached a spot where she was sure that no one would see what she was doing and that the two trees in front of her would be able to hide her misdemeanor, she stopped.
"Oh god," she breathed out as she finally tried to calm her breathing from the excessive exercise she had just done.
"Nevermind," she huffed. Calming herself down would take a lot of time and she did not have that. At least not for now this was more important.
Evelyn opened the back and emptied the contents of it on the ground.
A watch, three bracelets with stones and diamonds fell on the ground along with his phone and earrings.
The first thing was to break the screen of the phone with the help of a stone. Then she keeps the diamonds aside along with the watch.
The phone could stay here. She had broken it completely, in fact she had broken it into two halves.
For the diamonds and the watch she had a perfect idea.
*****
This was bad, perhaps the worst Idea she could see in regards to saving herself but her daughter was more important.
Which is why she was standing in front of a homeless man and was handle him The diamond bracelets. On the previous blog and in the middle of two buildings where there was an early she handed of the other bracelet and a watch to someone else.
"But why are you giving this to me?" The man asked in confusion. "I am not going to give it back."
"Don’t," she shrugged. "When you pawn it of the first thing I want you to do is get out of this town."
It did feel bad that she was giving the watch to a homeless man who might be tracked down or not.
There was an 80% chance that no one would give a damn about the words given that everyone has broken but then again it would be pawned off and she had already told the three of them to walk away from the town, it won’t be much.
"Out?" He repeated.
Evelyn gave him a not. This conversation was the same as she had had with the ones who she had handed off the bracelets and the watch too.
"It is of an ex-boyfriend." She explained with a distressed look over her face as if annoyed and sad by the situation. "He left them at my place and I am going to make sure he never gets it back."
"Huh," he scoffed and pocketed the watch before giving her a smile. "What a fucker."
Indeed, what a fucker life was.
