Chaos In The Darkness; Salvatores's Salvation-Chapter 170: A new beginning - III
A MONTH LATER.
Evelyn sighed and hit send before leaning back and watching the screen carefully. The email said the word sent instead of queued and she released another sigh.
Closing her laptop, she got up from the small dining table and made her way to where her daughter was sleeping.
She opened the door a little, only to make sure that her daughter was still sleeping even though it was 2:00 a.m. in the morning.
Arabella was.
Her chest was going up and down as she dreamed peacefully.
Once satisfied, Bella closed the door but not fully, only leaving a crack open. Evelyn then moved to a bedroom. They had managed to score an apartment with 2 bedrooms and 1 bathroom.
Since the population was only in a few thousands this was somewhat available to them quite easily and here the people did not look like zombies.
Surprisingly they had kept in contact with Peter and even though keeping contact so constantly with someone was a liability, Evelyn could not help herself especially when Bella had taken a liking to him.
Now, Peter had been a constant figure to them.
Evelyn washed her face and applied a moisturizer. The two things that she could afford.
She has submitted the first draft and she just waited for the word from her editor. The editor was supposed to apply to her in at least a week and if she did not as well and would take it as a rejection.
At the end of the day when it was actually beginning Evelyn finally went to bed.

"Did you take my book?" Arabella called from her high chair. "I like it when She reads to me."
Evelyn huffed lightly. She was slightly late.
"I did." Courtesy of Peter now her daughter loved reading works especially the little stories that he had bought her. Those were hard copies and could fit inside the palm of any adult.
If arabella was not into books and she was definitely into the size of them. She loves to read the books that are to her size.
Sometimes she felt like she had to pick a bone with Peter.
When she was almost then she hurriedly picked up her bag and her files before grabbing onto Arabella and her backpack.
"Ready?" She asked her daughter even though she was still busy running a few last minute errands.
Arabella nodded into her shoulder and Evelyn close to the door to the apartment behind her before going over to the next door.
She knocked on it and a Filipino woman opened the door. "Hi Evelyn!" She chirped before her eyes went to the little one in her arms, "ohh, look askew. How cute are you!" She squealed and pulled Bella in her arms. "I love the bow!" She touched the pink sparkly bow in Bella’s hair. "Can I have it?"
"Nu, nu," Bella raised her index finger and shook her entire hand instead of shaking her wrist. "Mine." She pointed at herself, making the older woman laugh.
"Alright then," Diwa turned to Evelyn and took the bag from her. "Have a nice day at work, Evelyn."
"Have a nice day at work, mummy."
"Thank you, my love." Evelyn gave her a flying kiss that Bella caught effortlessly with her small chubby hands. "Thank you, Diwa. Take care." Evelyn waved her goodbye as the woman moved inside and Evelyn started to walk to the stairs.
She exited the apartment building and walked into the cool air of the morning.
Evelyn was a receptionist in an office and it seemed to be working perfectly well. Shahar 9 to 5 job and her neighbour was an old woman who was ready to be sad because her children were out as well and she was lonely.
It was great because she also treated Arabella like her daughter, maybe because of the fact that she had given birth to five sons and no daughters.
So much so that the old woman had started to buy clothes for Arabella too.
She did not take the bus or the taxi. It would be a useless expense in this part of the town. So Evelyn walked the entire way and after walking for almost 30 minutes, she was here.
She had a habit of coming here 5 minutes to nine in the morning but she happened later today making her arrive 10 minutes after the opening time.
Thankfully no one here ever made it before nine-thirty.
She took out the three files from her bag and started reading and briefing them. This branch had three receptionists in total and Evelyn was the one who was working full-time. The other two were part timers.
That gave Evelyn the opportunity to sit in most of the meetings just to take notes because her boss did not like missing anything and it was better this way that two people were taking notes instead of one.
"Ah, you are here." Jared, her boss, walked in making her stand up and leave the file open in front of her. "Come on, we have a few things to discuss."
They did?
Evelyn discreetly opened the diary and checked. The meeting that they had at the earliest was at 10:30 in the morning and there was more than an hour to go.
"Um, Jared?" Evelyn spoke after him a little hesitantly as she continue to follow behind. "What are you talking about?’
"I was thinking of opening another branch in the neighbouring town.’ He answered and gave her a glance. "But I do not have the funds for it which is why I was looking for an investor and I found one!"
He was?
Evelyn nodded and continued to follow him and only stopped when they had reached his office.
"Here," he gave her some papers, "I want this file to be there with the accountant and tell him to verify everything. This one has to go with the marketing department and the other one to the sales." He pointed to each and every one of them before he sighed.
"What?"
He huffed. "He is coming here tomorrow and I want everything to be perfectly fine."
Even though she lacked the confidence herself, Evelyn gave him a dazzling smile, "It will be. Don’t worry." After all, what was the worst that could happen?
