Chapter 168: A mother’s decision - II

Alexis felt her mouth dry up at the fact that her son was finally standing in front of her eyes. It has been ages since she had seen him.

Even though he made contact with her mother almost every day it was verbally and through audio but never face to face.

"What is happening?" Her eyes moved to both of them. "I have not seen my child in the past two years and whenever I do, it is for a minute or two and then you too are inside your office."

She gulped. "why don’t you just start telling me what is happening?"

Her second child has definitely changed. There was something about Salvatore that she found to be different. Even though he looked the same and hardly matured over in his looks for the past two years, there was something definitely different about him.

"Where have you been?" Alexis found herself whispering to her child as she moved towards him and away from Angelo. "I have not seen you for 2 years and have only received any calls from you."

As a mother this was the hardest thing that she had been through.

Salvatore, Lucas and Marcelo her three sons might appear to be tough from the outside but when in front of her they showed every emotion as a human would.

Now at most two of her children were being emotionless in front of her which were Marcelo and Salvatore. Lucas to some extent was showing her something but he had also refrained from it and Alexis could see that as clear as.

"We will tell you once we solve all of it," Salvatore murmured, "this no use for you to worry about anything that cannot be solved and only taking a little bit of time."

It hurt. It hurt more than anyone ever knew.

It’s not his words that were hurting her but the way he said it. Salvatore might mutter the words in front of everyone but with her, he spoke everything loud and clear.

God, none of them were giving anything up.

Helpless she turned to Angelo again who had pulled his plate towards him and was once again, very conveniently eating.

"Angelo," she whispered to him, "are you two really going to do this to me?"

Her vision got slightly bloody and she was aware of the fact that big fat tears were going to be sliding down her cheeks within moments.

She felt humiliated by the fact that she was the one that was once again cornered. "If you do not tell me anything I swear to God you will regret it." She warned both of them.

Angelo placed his cutlery down before standing up and clicking his tongue in a reaction.

He turned around to face her effectively towering her while doing so. "I’m not going to tell you anything. This is all information that can be told to the civilian and those are the rules I have to abide by."

She huffed as an angry tear slipped past her eye, "you were the one who broke the rules in the first place by bringing me here!" She spat in his face.

"I did." He agreed right away not finding any kind of disagreement nor was coming up with one. He folded his arms as he met her glare with his own. "And I am also rectifying it by not telling you anything anymore."

That was perhaps the final blow that she could take.

It was one thing to be insulted by Angelo because she could do the same bad but to be insulted by Angelo in front of a child who was also participating and it was humiliated to another level.

It’s something that she could not tolerate. It was something that broke her from the inside.

"Fine, then," she whispered to herself before she nodded. Alexis had taken many steps in her life and many of them signified huge decisions and behind Those huge decisions for a major reason that only a few people understood.

One of those huge decisions was to take off the emerald ring that her husband had given her.

After he had cheated on her, inside the house and on their bed while knowing that she was watching them, Alexis had decided to take a ring off that she had received from him and to never wear it again.

She had still not worn that ring because we have not forgiven him from it. No matter how much effort he made, Alexis had made up her mind about it.

"Each and everyone of you, be it Bella Rosa or husband and all of my children including your father and of course Salvatore," she settled out the words, "everyone knows what is going on. Everyone knows what exactly is going on except for me."

"Even Antonio is a stranger like you had initially told me he was!" She put her finger in Angelo’s chest harshly.

"Then you know what?" Alexis chuckled, "just like you had cheated on me, our children are doing the same."

The expression on her husband’s face changed drastically and for the first time, he panicked.

"I have still been there for you and have been there for my children more than enough but only to receive this?" She waved her hand in the air signalling what was going on.

"I don’t accept this."

Those were the last words she said before she raised her left hand and pulled out the sapphire ring.

"I stopped giving your wife ages ago," she spoke as she raised the ring for both of them to see, "looks like it would be better for me to stop being a mother as well."

Giving each of them a last look, Alexis placed the rain over except for the plate of her husband before she stormed out of the room.

She had been right. Nothing justified the decisions from two years ago.

Alexis could not get out of the storm that she had been placed in, but at least someone else got out safely.
