Chaos In The Darkness; Salvatores's Salvation-Chapter 167: A mother’s decision - I
Alexis, for many times in her life, had felt helpless in deciding what was to be done in situations like this but this one topped all of it.
She had never felt afraid to take on and challenge Angelo and not to forget her son as well, but for the first time, she felt afraid to do so.
Something had changed drastically and even she felt the need to shut up and stay away from the bear inside of going ahead and poking it.
It was time for breakfast and by the appearance of the other side of the bed, it was clear that her husband did not come home last night.
Via Agatha, she had it confirmed that he was coming home for breakfast at least.
The familiar footsteps of his shoes hitting the floor made her look up at the entrance of the dining room.
Anglo entered the room alone and she gulped. Somehow, in the last two years, he became even more daunting than before.
"Good morning," she wished him softly and he silently reached over and kissed her lips. It long and slow kiss as if he was making up for the time they had lost.
"Forgive me," he whispered against her lips, "I did not spend my time with you"
She shook her head and let out a small sigh. "No, don’t say that, just tell me, what’s going on?" It was more of a plea because he never told her anything. Hardly, ever was she ever let in and only if it concerned their family.
He pulled away and took his seat at the head of the table. "You should not worry about it, my love." the last words were whispered in his mother tongue. "I do not want you taking any stress on that heart."
Alexis huffed, "Why do yo-" she shook her head.
Recently they had found out that she had a heart problem. Nothing minor but she could not take any stress. Apparently it was something that happened in her family for generations. Father’s side or her mother’s she did not know but it was hereditary.
Once again it was on anything serious and something that people could definitely live with her entire life but Angelo, her ever loving and doting husband had taken the words to heart.
Quite literally. 𝑓𝑟𝑒𝘦𝓌𝑒𝑏𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝘭.𝒸𝘰𝑚
"Angelo," she resumed talking, her tone firm yet soft, "i manage a chain of restaurants which extend to over seven different countries. Do you really think i cannot do it?"
He eyed her in displeasure. "It had slipped my mind. I will be taking those from you."
Oh, fuck off. She scoffed again. "What is happening, Anglo please." she begged. "It is my child and it has been two years. I really do not know anything and it pains me to see him like this."
It had been two years to all of it and until now no one has seen Salvatore’s face unless they were close family members and by that she main medley 10 to 12 people who made it on a daily basis. That involved their family and Nikita’s.
Angelo did not have even a minor change in his expressions. Not even as a little twitch in his eyebrow. "I will," he relented slightly, "but only when the time came. For now, I need to be with him."
And there was secrecy.
The secrecy that had been here for the past two years and nothing made her feel more alienated than anything else.
They had been keeping secrets from her and to some point, even Bella and her husband had been involved. As an assassin, who Antonio Rosario was, he was not linked with any family but only to himself because he took all kinds of jobs from everyone and everywhere, but he knew more than she did.
It was like everyone in the family knew more than she did and somehow that was pinching her more because at the end of the day no one was telling her anything and it was concerning her child.
"I don’t like the fact that everyone knows something that I do not," her tone was clipped and showed the anger that she felt inside, "I have not ask you to involve me in many businesses but this time, but this time it involves my family and maybe you should try and tell me more!"
Angela did get to reply and even though it seemed that he was not going to care for one Agatha and the others servants entered by the time Alexis was finished.
She silently waited even though her feet were tapping on the floor with frustration as they placed the breakfast for the both of them since the youngest child was absent this morning. The moment they were gone and existence to Angelo again.
"Now?" She prompted.
He gave her a shake of his head before he went to dig into his food.
He was not going to answer but this time she was not accepting that answer.
Alexis stood up and the chair scraped behind her. He did not look up and made her more frustrated than ever.
Swallowing her bitter anger to some extent and moved to him before she pushed his plate away from him.
He was in the middle of cutting something on his plate and when she pushed the plate away some of the food was on his fork and the rest fell on the table.
"What the fuck, Alexis." He hissed out and glared at the table. "Just because it has been some time, don’t forget your place."
"I have not!" She snapped. "I am desperate to know what’s going on and no one is telling me anything. What is wrong with you, Angelo, can you not tell me what’s going on with my kids?!" She snapped at the top of her lungs finally having enough of it.
"Ale—"
"What do you want to know, mama?" Her head snapped up at the voice of her child. "Tell me."
