Chapter 166: A new beginning - I

For two days she kept the same routine, after that Evelyn had decided to finally have a change and check out of the inn.

So far she had heard nothing from the other room where she had said someone and that was something Evelyn considered to be good till now.

She had been sure to put his phone on silent so that whenever it would ring she would not have the scope of complaining because she would not hear it.

Even Heather had not suspected anything till now. Probably because of the fact that whenever someone will come here they will come for some kind of vacation and would definitely want to keep to themselves unless they wanted something to be sent over to them.

"I hope you had a nice time," Heather sighed as she collected the bill, "I would not hold it against you if you decide to walk out of the town. No one wants to stay here, especially with the kid."

She was a kid and she was also a murderer. She had murdered not anyone but her friend.

Evelyn nodded and handed her the money in cash. It was not much, especially when she had not ordered anything from the kitchen.

Arabella was playing outside on the swing that they had noticed yesterday and by the looks of it the little child was not going anywhere anytime soon.

After paying the bill and making sure that she had collected her bags with her, Evelyn stood at the entrance of the inn as She watched her toddler.

Four days of routine was what Evelyn could give her daughter. Only four days whereas she has had a life where everything had been constant.

From the tiniest things anyone could ever find to the largest luxuries everything was something that Evelyn had been given in her life. But her daughter was someone who had to be compromised even though she had more than enough money in her account to last them their entire lives.

That was all she could give her daughter.

From the swing, Bella changed her chosen source of entertainment to a slide.

There were only two more children with her and seemingly Bella enjoyed everything. She laughed wholeheartedly without a care of the world of who was watching and that was how her life was supposed to be.

And that was the exact opposite of what Evelyn could afford to give.

She gave Bella around 15-20 minutes more before she finally stepped closer to her daughter.

Bella’s eyes fell on her mum when she turned around to walk back to the swing. "Mummy!" She giggled and ran into the arms of her mother. "Did you see how many swings there are here?"

Evelyn nodded with a smile on her face.

"I love it!" Bella shrieked, clapping her hand twice. "Can we stay here forever?!"

Evelyn’s smile fell. Her heart thudded loudly inside her chest.

She was quick enough to replace the following smile with another bright one but her daughter had already noticed it.

"It’s okay," she patted Evelyn’s cheek, "I will be happy wherever we go together."

God, her eyes teared up. Who Let Her child grow up so fast?

Without thinking twice, Evelyn pulled her child into her arms. "When did you grow up?" She groaned into the shoulder of the toddler. It was so hard to believe there Arabella was growing so fast.

"Don’t be a silly Billy," Bella sighed, "babies are supposed to grow, mummy. Always."

Apparently this baby was also going to be more sarcastic by the day.

Evelyn cleared her throat before she wiped away the tears and pulled away from her daughter. "I promise you that the next place we go, we will definitely be staying there for a long, long time."

Her words were convincing but who was she convincing?

Arabella nodded her head quite firmly. "I know."

Evelyn kissed her forehead giving a loud smooch in the end before she got up and took her daughter to where her bags were.

"Why do we have to move so much, mummy?"

Evelyn stopped at her words and closed her eyes before giving out a sigh. This was something that she had been expecting from a long time.

Arabella was noticing and questioning things.

She looked to the side to find her daughter already looking at her while blinking those big Blue eyes just like her own.

"Mummy needs to.." oh god, "there is someone who troubled mummy very much and now she has to run so that he can never catch her."

The lie felt better on her mouth.

Salvatore had never made her life hell on purpose. Of course with the given position that she had put him in, he had no option but to take revenge from her.

Bella let out a huge gasp as her eyes widened, "no! Police, mummy!"

Why did her eyes have to start burning again? She blinked them repeatedly before she lowered herself and onto the level of a daughter so that they were in the same height level. "I did, my love. But mummy is still scared and just so he does not come for you, mummy has to make sure that he can never catch us. But I promise that this time we will go and stay at one place for a very long time."

A small frown came to the forehead of her daughter but she nodded anyway. "I love you, mummy."

Evelyn smiled through the tears that she did not mind now, "I love you the most."

The last train ride had been for almost 6 days and this one was going to a complete opposite side which was Scotland.

This time she had booked two seats for them and arabella was sleeping in one which had a kids seat.

They were kind enough to provide that and Evelyn did not say no. Arabella felt like a grown up and she had not once asked to be taken away from the seat and now she was also peacefully sleeping.

"It must be difficult to travel with a kid," Evelyn looked up. "I cannot imagine taking care of my luggage along with the baby."

It was a young guy sitting in front of her. Evelyn had noticed him the moment she had taken her seat with Arabella but by far he had only been nose deep into his work.

"She’s not a fussy child," Evelyn answered as she covered up arabella’s head with her cap. It was December and the cold was not having mercy on them.

"I’m Peter." He lost his book but had turned a finger in between the pages that he was reading and with the other hand he reached over and held it out for a shake, "people call me Pete."

"Do you like being called Pete?" Evelyn tilted her head to decide for a brief second before she shook his hand. "I am Catherine Vancouver."

"Catherine Vancouver?" He repeated before laughing. "Why did your parents hate you?"

Her real name was Evelyn Bianchi and that was one of the best names that anyone could have given that child but this time she had to keep her mouth shut and take the insult against her parents.

She shrugged, "who knows. I guess the labor must be hard."

"Hmm," he nodded.

He had specs which were being pushed to the edge of his fingers by his finger when they slipped down again and again.

He had little chubby cheeks but the jawline was also prominent. By the amount of time that she had spent with soldiers and Guards and man working for her father, she knew that he was lean in nature and not bulky and puffy like them.

He was more on the innocent side.

"Hey!" A snap of fingers in front of her face made her bling out of it.

"What?" She whispered knowing that she had definitely been out. "I am sorry, what were you saying?"

He shook his hand as if not taking any offense to the fact that she had slipped away. "I said,’’ Would you like a book?" When it’s long train rides like this and are awfully silent, you would definitely love reading a book. Would you like a series or a standalone?"

How long has it been that she has been able to peacefully read a book?

"A standalone, please." She requested and watched as the man reached over to his bag which was kept on the other seat. It was empty and he had made use of it.

A standalone was probably better because there was no way that she could ever finish any kind of series especially with how constantly she had to move.

"Here," he passed her a book, "it is The Alchemist."

The Alchemist?

Evelyn took the book from him and admired the cover letting her eyes judge the book from it before she turned around and read the contents on the back cover.

She definitely had heard of the book. It was in her recommendations but she never found the time to read it especially after her father had passed away.

Evelyn turned to the book and opened it to its index. "Thank you," she spoke in a small, shy voice.

"No worries," he winked before going back to his book, making her do the same.
