Chapter 161: A move - II

"Do we really have to go?" Bella moaned sleepily. "I’m really sleepy mama.." her voice was muffled by the huge yawn.

Evelyn gently rubbed the back of her child. It was obvious that this right was going to be very difficult for Bella.

The only saying that she could take at the moment was a train. Nobody took these anymore and everybody’s First choice was an airplane so she was probably safe here given that the cameras were less than what they would be in numbers at the security of an airport.

Trains were highly uncomfortable and Evelyn was very much guilty of the fact that she was bringing her child the uncomfort that should not be brought upon the child at this age.

"I’m sorry baby," she whispered into the ears of her daughter who hummed. "Mama promises that once they land she will buy you a big chocolate."

She could feel the stretch of lips that came on her baby’s face at the name of a chocolate. Seemingly unhealthy but Evelyn would make sure that she brushed her teeth before sleeping.

The seat in front of her was empty and Evelyn had placed her legs on it. She was half lying and half sitting position and her baby was in her arms with her face cushioned in her chest.

The moment she read the name of her very old friend it was obvious that they were worth trying something in London. Otherwise none of them would step in here.

And if one of them was here then others would soon follow which man she would have to get out as soon as possible and the best way was to hit the countryside.

The countryside was the least expected space, she knew that she could find a perfect job especially when the expenses won’t be as demanding.

Eveyln could hardly find a taxi when they left the train station. They had four bags in total and she could keep track of all of them while holding her baby in a strap attached to her back.

"Taxi!" Evelyn yelled at the top of her voice when she saw the first yellow car come. Thankfully it slowed to a stop and saying that the woman was with the child, the man even came out of the car to help her unload the stuff into the trunk of the car.

"Here," Evelyn passed him the address of a bed and breakfast. She was going to stay at an end which was going to cause her less than the luxurious hotel that was built one town over.

Even in a small town like this, there was a luxurious hotel but she was sure that it could never beat the luxury she had seen in the center of London.

She sighed as the car started to move and opened a tracking app on her phone. The distance to the railway station and to the end that she was staying was found and she was tracking every bit of the destination that they were covering.

Evelyn had never had this before but having a child in her made her more cautious and self aware than she had ever been.

So, they stopped in front of a house.

The house appeared to be the same one as was described in the website of the inn. This was going to be a lot cheaper to her and probably safe.

The taxi man helped her unload the stuff back onto the ground and even helped her take two of them inside. Evelyn did thank him and gave a hefty tip.

Bella thankfully was quiet and still a little sleepy and as much as Evelyn loves her child sleeping throughout the journey it was going to cause her own sleep.

Arabella was going to be away the entire day for sure when Evelyn would like to catch up on her sleep.

She patted on her baby’s head as she moved inside more. The reception there was an old lady who was reading a newspaper.

"Hello," Evelyn created her softly and the taxi man left her suitcases over there before returning to his car. "I booked a name under Catherine Vancouver."

"Vancouver, you say?" The woman moved and took a register from her desk and started checking the names. "I see you but you have not yet decided when to check out."

"Ahh yes," Evelyn replied as she took out her purse and reached for her fake ID. "I am going to look for an apartment here. The moment I find one along with some furniture I will check out of the inn."

A smile graced the face of the woman who appeared to be in her late fifties. "I understand you. If you want I will send the newspapers regarding the housing for you in the morning. Would you like to dine here or prefer to go out and have dinner in a diner inside the town?"

"Here." Evelyn answered.

The woman gave her a nod receiving her answer as she reached over a draw but not before unlocking it. She took out a bunch of keys and moved into the lift.

"It is a small lift," she informed Evelyn as they moved inside the left and it started moving up, "only three people at a time fit. So remember that and do not come in a lift that exceeds the number."

"I will."

The woman who Evelyn later came to know the name of was Heather and she was the wife and co-owner of the inn that they were staying in.

"Here are the keys to your room, Catherine," Heather handed the keys after showing her the room and patting arabella’s shoulder. "Cute kid."

Evelyn smiled and thanked her before unlocking the door and closing it shut behind her once she had entered. She released a sigh of relief as her bags were inside.

Hopefully this will be the last change for sometime.

*****

She had been right.

It had hardly been to us that she actually decided to rest beside Bella when her child had woken up by jumping on her stomach.

"I want to see whewe we awe!" She pouted while bowing her head a little and staring at her mother with those big glossy eyes.

Evelyn stayed at her in amusement before tilting her head and grabbing her foot, likely squeezing at making her baby laugh.

"Why?" Evelyn tickled her chin. "what do I get if I take you out to see the town?"

Bella tapped her finger on her chin telling everyone that she was thinking about it before she bent down and placed a slobbery on her mother’s cheek. "There!"

Evelyn grimaced at the spit on her cheek but nevertheless ended up smiling. "Come on, then." She held the baby by placing her hands under her arms before getting up from the bed herself.

From this home that love would end up falling asleep and Evelyn could take a small nap.

Even though the sound was pretty remote, she made sure that Bella was well dressed in her winter clothes so that you would not catch any code. Getting dressed in her regular jacket which was the only one that she could afford, Evelyn moved out of the room along with her baby who was this time walking.

The lift was empty when they boarded in and Evelyn’s grip tightened on the hand of her daughter.

Heather gave them the instructions of where to go and which diners to choose from and soon they were out of the inn and onto the road that Bella was happily walking on.

"Mama," she continued, babbling, "when did we come here?"

The baby definitely realised that they were in new surroundings.

"Yesterday night. You were sleeping the entire way."

"Oh," Arabella replied, "why did you not wake me up?"

Evelyn noticed how down her child felt regarding this. As a mother she could differentiate between when Arabella was faking it and when she truly felt bad about something.

"Next time I will," the words for an empty promise.

Arabella did not have the opportunity to speak because the diner came into the view and Evelyn immediately pulled the baby in her arms.

Taking a seat in the corner booth so that her child could have the view outside the Diner, Evelyn raised her hand to get the attention of the waitress when she noticed something around them.

There were people looking like they were hung over or.. dead.

They were in a zombie-like state. The dark circles under their eyes, The pale skin and not to mention the hollow of the cheeks.

What was wrong with these people?

"Here," the waitress placed two glasses of water in front of them and two menus. "Anything I can help you with before I take your orders?"

Evelyn nodded. " Why do these people look like.."

The waitress breathed loudly and looked around understanding what Evelyn was talking about.

"You are new here, aren’t you?" She asked and with a nod, Evelyn confirmed it. "You should have not come here. People here are having a serious marijuana problem and by that I mean, a very big one."

"What do you mean?"

The waitress smirked, "Small town. No suspicion. People grow marijuana in your house and no one ever suspects."

She looked at the child, "take care of her. People don’t mind selling their children." She went before walking away leaving Evelyn to stare at her baby.

Shit.
