Chapter 155: A house guest - II

The next time she exited her room Salvatore was not there and she was very much thankful for it.

She was not even aware that most of her clothes were brought here but when she went into the walk-in closet she found a fourth of the originally bought clothes there.

Julia was standing there and she silently led Evelyn into the dining room where Angelo was already sitting right in front of the head of the table. At the very end of the table opposite his son.

"Good morning, Mr Alessandro," She whispered as she neared him. It was customary to greet him given they were meeting after the first time after she had been married to his son.

"Good, girl," he stood up and placed kisses on both sides of her cheek. "Come and sit down. You must be hungry."

Quiet on the contrary, Evelyn felt no desire to eat anything. In fact, the smell of food was making her nauseate.

But of course she could not say to either of their faces.

Evelyn politely sat next to Salvatore. Within seconds after she had been seated they were served food by Marco and a maid.

It was a silent affair and Evelyn dragged out her eating as much as she could fall.

It was difficult to eat especially when she could not throw up in the presence of the man that would question everything.

Just to distract herself, Evelyn thought about some bits and pieces from their conversation that they had in front of her bedroom.

She thought about what he said when he asked her if she had bonded with the child already.

How could she not? Something was growing inside her every second of the day and it almost felt natural even though everything around it was not.

She felt the need to protect her child already. So maybe, the answer to this question was yes. She had bonded with the child already and even though she would be ready to give it up she was not going to let him die.

The breakfast place was cleared away and Evelyn’s plate was almost full but Marco hid it well.

Somehow she felt that he was in on it as well.

"Do you want to tell me why you are here?" Salvatore stared at his father effortlessly muttering those persons as we did not care about what his father could do at the disrespect shown to him.

Angelo narrowed his eyes at him very slightly. "Don’t fuck with me boy." He warned even though it seemed like he was used to it. "I am here for a few days on personal business. You will just see me for dinner and hardly ever for breakfast."

That was it then?

Evelyn found it weird and suspicious that he was here on personal business but she was not going to question it. As long as she would just see him on meal times she was going to be fine.

******

Dinner did not happen.

Angelo had not made it back to the house till the dinner and Salvatore had decided that there was no need for them to sit together and eat.

In fact he had announced this when Evelyn had taken the seat to his right. He stood up, declared what he wanted and then left as Evelyn watched him leave.

Alright then, Evelyn stood up and walked to the kitchen. Since she was already dressed for the dinner thinking that Angelo would be here, she was not going to let it waste and go back to her room.

Instead she had her dinner in the kitchen on the counter. She ate in the presence of those maids that could never talk but that was the best she had.

A part of her thought that Marco would be here but it was only twice where he came where he asked her what she wanted and if there was something else it would help her with, but after that he too had disappeared.

After finishing her barely touched food she walked back upstairs.

It was getting difficult for her to eat. There were specific cravings but she was afraid to ask for them. Maybe she could try to ask for them tomorrow.

Perhaps the maids could get it additionally and she could provide them with the money that she had. Evelyn had a little saved up. 𝓯𝓻𝒆𝙚𝒘𝓮𝙗𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝒍.𝙘𝓸𝙢

On reaching her room the first thing Evelyn did was take off the heels that made her hips and lower back pain a lot.

The next thing she went for was a glass of water because her throat suddenly felt very dry. It often felt like that after she had eaten cheese.

She turned to her side table, right next to her bed, where she had kept the shock of water only to come to a standstill when she saw it.

It was empty.

Of course, Given the recent luck she had, Evelyn found it extremely hilarious.

Without trying to wear her shoes and bothering her, Evelyn just grabbed the jug and moved out of the room. Angelo was not going to be home anytime soon and she was not going to run into Salvatore, so who cares if she was barefoot or not.

As she walked down stairs and into the kitchen, a sudden chill went down her spine and she felt like she was being watched.

Ignoring the feeling, she just filled her jar, closed it, and then started to walk back to her room.

Just as she reached the top of the stairs, she heard something behind her and turned around to see what it was.

Evelyn frowned.

She did not see anyone immediately but had expected it to be someone at least. Maybe a guard or one of the maids but it was no one.

She huffed slightly and one of her feet moved to take the step ahead when she felt a sudden shove from behind her.

Her body jerked forward and the jug slipped from her hands and crashed on the stairs just as her body met with the ground.

She tried to hold onto one of the pillars on the balcony but the water had made the steps to get enough for her to tumble down and make the glass peirce into her skin even more.

With another bump to her, Evelyn tried to help but the word did not reach her ears. She had no idea what happened or when she reached to the last step because she had lost consciousness long before.
