Chaos In The Darkness; Salvatores's Salvation-Chapter 152: The pregnant Donna - III
The words slipped out of her mouth. "Please, I have a life inside me." As she took the words to him she internalized them and realized what kind of situation she had put herself and her baby into.
Realizing that she had also messed up for herself Evelyn tried her level best to not panic at this point.
She had to think of the baby and getting up in fighting with the man was something that was definitely going to have both of them killed.
Not to forget, the man looked extremely buffed up which meant that she would never win a fight against him.
The man straightened up. "holy shit." He muttered breathlessly and looked down at Evelyn before he walked a few steps away with his hand in his hair.
She watched as he paced around her making sure that she was not running away from him as he continued to murder things under his breath.
Evelyn waited until he got himself under his control but he pulled out his phone and started to text to someone.
She patiently sat there, careful of the fact that he could shoot her anytime he wanted.
"You are pregnant," the man repeated to himself as he kept on texting before he turned to look at her and placed his phone back in his pocket. "Are you lying?"
"No." She answered truthfully it was completely dependent on him whether he wanted to believe it or not.
Hopefully, he would.
He stared at her as if trying to decipher if she was lying or not but he was no Salvatore and he could read Evelyn like an open book. So she was not scared with this one.
She showed him exactly what you wanted him to see. With the vulnerable expression on her face she showed him the eyes that glistened with tears.
"I don’t know—" the man was cut off with the ping that his phone made. He immediately left the word in between and reached for the Phone inside his pocket.
The first thing he did was raise the phone and place it right next to her head from what she could see.
"You.." his eyes moved from the phone and to her and then back at the phone again. He repeated these actions several times.
"You are not just the daughter of someone.." he muttered under his breath as the same action continued, "you are his wife."
Evelyn sat up quickly and then stood up.
Her heart started beating quicker than she had ever felt it to. At this point the men could actually kill her to make an impression or a statement in front of everyone.
"You are the wife of Salvatore—that bastard who I have been talking about till now!"
Shit. Shit. Shit. Shit.
This could be the worst possible timing for this. At the moment she could not run because she had the possibility of getting shot and he knew that she was pregnant now and her husband was Salvatore.
"N-no?" Why was she denying anything now?!
She turned around to look at the end of the hallway where the stairs began to the floor where her room was. Why was no one coming to check? Guards were supposed to be here!
"Holyshit!" The man chuckled like he had just struck gold which he probably had. "That bastard has a child on his way!"
Shit.
Pregnancies were something that was great especially when they were coming from the house of the ruling family.
That basically meant that Evelyn or any other pregnant woman was not supposed to go out very much. In fact they were supposed to stay in and safe and whenever they would go out they had an army of gods with them.
Now the man knew she was pregnant and he had the gun in his hand which hindered her from running away and calling Salvatore.
Before she knew it, a gunshot ran out in the air, making her jump and hit the man in the forehead right in the middle of the eyes.
Blood splattered out before he hit the ground.
Evelyn stared at his unmoving body with his son blinking eyes making sure that he was actually dead. She blinked her eyes repeatedly before looking away and trying to get the image of another dead man out of her head.
"Evelyn," she heard someone take my name and turned around to find Dante walking closer to her. "Are you alright?"
She stared at him and the specs of blood that were on his clothes. Even though she had been born into this line of work as well Evelyn still found it to be horrifying to look at.
"I.." she gulped and felt her throat dry up. She turned to point out the band before turning to look at Dante again, "he.."
"I understand," he cut her as if understanding where she was going with it. "However you have to get inside the room you are allotted to. How did you even manage to open it?"
That part of the conversation was something that she did not think about. How did his mind even go towards that direction when she was almost on the verge of dying and he had shot that person dead?
If she had been in his place, then for sure Evelyn what happened on seeing a family member being held at gunpoint, barely dressed and not to mention, pregnant.
Dante was one of the only people that knew of that fact.
"I.." she could not really tell him that she knew how to open a lock from the inside. Imagine them placing more security detail around her. That would never work in her favor even if something like this happened.
"I don’t know.." she replied to him with a small shake off the head. "It was him that opened the door.."
It did not feel right to her by blaming a man that was already dead but this was probably the only time that she could get away with it.
"I was just listening to what was happening outside and he came all of a sudden," she started to Babble once again, "I did not know how to—"
"Calm down Evelyn," He raised his hand and silenced her. " I need to take you back to your room, so follow me."
Room, she nodded. That was probably the best place where she could go at the moment.
Dante turned around and started walking into the direction of a room and Evelyn followed.
She walked behind him leaving the distance of a few steps but enough that if she found any danger she would be able to hide behind him.
Should she ask what was going on downstairs? Because by the looks of it, Dante was very much involved.
Also by eying where he was walking and holding himself, it appeared to be highly unlikely that this was an unplanned attack or someone had actually grown the guts to do so on her husband.
Because if they had been unaware then Dante would not be walking so slowly and patiently without hurting her into the room and locking her within seconds.
It was as if he had it all under control and that was not how it happened when a family was under attack inside its home.
Those situations were filled with Chaos and panic and none of those things were happening in front of her. There were no Guards scrambling to get the don and the donna to a safe place.
"What happened downstairs?" Her voice was low as a scared that someone else might hear them but it was still clear enough for him to know what she had said. "I had multiple shots. A lot of them."
"Nothing that concerns you, honestly." He sighed. "If Salvatore wants you to know that he will make sure that it was within your knowledge already. You can ask him if you want but you will not get any answer from me and authorized by your husband."
That had heard her more than anything.
True, if Salvatore wanted her to know that she would have already known about everything that had happened tonight.
However, he did not want her to know and even the people working for him knew that.
"You could still tell me a little," it almost sounded like begging at this point. "I just want to know what happened downstairs, especially with the man that broke into my room. He had a gun in his hand, Dante."
"I am well aware of what was happening." He continued walking without looking at her, edging closer to her room. "However my actions are chosen by the don and if they don’t want you to know anything through me then, I would have been given clear commands about it."
It could not be any more clear that at this point that he was not going to bulge from anything, especially the fact that anything he did could be a slight betrayal to the don.
Dante stood in front of her door and pointed his head to the inside silently asking her to get in. "I will make sure to appoint guards to this hallway. This will not happen again."
And that was as close as an apology could get with these men.
Evelyn nodded and walked inside only to hear the door closed and the slight click of the lock at the end of it.
