Chapter 153: What is it? - I

Alexis stared at the clock in the kitchen as she waited for some one particular to walk in. One thing that she was irritated by the most was Marcelo’s lack of interest towards education.

That boy either never made it to the college to begin with and when he did he would never make it to the first few classes.

With a sigh she stood up and walked out of the kitchen. She walked up the stairs and into the room of her youngest child who was in the sheets, sleeping like he had never had the luxury before.

Alexis looked around the room and her eyes went to the jug of water. It was empty but that did not stop her. She picked it up and went to the bathroom where she felt it up to the brim and came back inside only to empty it over her child’s head.

"HAY!" Marcello sprang up with his eyes widened and his face reddened in anger. When he saw his mother the anger fueled down but it did not disappear. "Why would you do that to me? I came home late at night and you know that!"

Alexis chuckled. "I told you you are allowed to come late and sleep the day off if you were training. Your father did not take you to train and you are out partying."

She pointed her finger at him, "that is something we agreed on. Parties and clubbing were meant for the weekend until you graduate and it has not even been one semester for you to go through that deal!"

"Chill," he drawled the word as he nestled back into the sheets, "I’m gonna come... Within.. a minute.."

It was clear to the mother that her child had already fallen asleep even after he had emptied a bucket of water on his head and the sheets that he laid on were wet.

She sighed, growing more irritated than ever. There was only one thing that she could do at this point.

She exited his room in a hurry and on the same floor was the office of her husband that she directly walked into without waiting to knock on it.

Angelo was holding a gun to someone’s head who was lying down on the floor with his hands joined in front of him.

"Really?" He raised an eyebrow at her interruption. "Did we not discuss the importance of knocking?"

She clicked her tongue in irritation on seeing that Angelo put his gun away. "Stay here," he told the man with narrowed eyes before moving to Alexis.

Holding her hand he pulled her out of the room and instructed the guard to stay inside with the man.

"What is it?"

"That boy has not made it to a full day in college and there have been 20 working days already!" She snapped. "You need to make sure that he attends classes from now on. It never listens to me anymore!"

Most of the children that consisted of the first three always heard what she had to say. She really had to involve Angelo in any of this but when it came to Marcelo, Angelo was the only one that could tell the boy what to do.

He sighed and shook his head before turning around and disappearing into the hallway where his son stayed.

Meanwhile Alexis tried to calm herself down. Marcello really played with her nerves and interest; she was very close to disowning him.

She heard loud footsteps and on looking up she found marsalo running for his life. He was about to go down the stairs but then he found her.

He changed his way and then ran towards her only to use her as the human shield against his father who was now nearing them.

Angelo raised a questioning eyebrow at her defending him.

Alexis scoffed and moved aside, "please at this moment I have no intention of defending this fellow."

"Come on," Marcello whined, "you are supposed to take my side when my father is close to beating my ass."

"I would have defended you if you listened. I was the one to have him charge at your arse in the first place." Alexis moved closer to Angelo, "finish it off soon. He has to go to college in half an hour."

Marcelo did not make it to the university at all. However, it was for sure that from tomorrow he was definitely going to attend the university all day long.

"What did you do?" Alexis muttered to the side of her husband. Her eyes remained on her youngest child who was concentrating on which books he had to purchase after 20 days in the semester.

He scoffed in return before answering, "He had no intention of making something out of himself. So I made sure to show him where he was going to be."

That was all Alexis was getting. For Angelo, it was not important enough to tell her what was going on behind the closed doors of the forbidden corridor.

She would not be able to take it.

For his youngest he had made sure to teach his youngest what would become a firm if he did not step up his game.

Angelo made him clean every torture room. It was a humiliating punishment because every guard knew what he was doing and given that he was the son of the previous Don and the brother of the current one, it was the humiliation that finally cracked Marcello.

Alexis stared at him with the deadpanned expression on her face. "Really? You know if I ask Marcello, he will tell me."

Angelo bit back his smile. There was no way that Marcelo would ever tell his mother what happened to full stop and access for someone that their children looked up to and they always wanted her to have a high opinion of them. Which is why if Alexis got to know that Marcello was growing flowers it was obvious that she was going to come for Angela and to be the reason for his parents’ fight, would lower Marcello’s worth.

Especially when everyone knew that it would be a futile attempt to fight against him. Alexis would never win.

***

It was 9:00 in the evening and Alexis and he were supposed to have a cup of coffee on the balcony.

Much to his surprise by the time he reached the balcony which was a minute or two before the intended time, he found Alexis sleeping.

It was kind of nothing you because in her fifties Alexis was actually more tired than she had ever been before and given that the woman never exercised, he had to excuse it.

Instead he walked to the next chair and slowly lowered himself into it before grabbing the cup of coffee and bringing it silently, lost in his own thoughts.

Peace and quiet had been there especially for the past few years and now, the only time came when Alexis had finally shut her mouth along with her eyes and fell asleep.

She could be a fucking chatterbox when she wanted to be.

His phone vibrated making him pull it out.

His eyes widened briefly.

That cannot be true?

Surely it could not be. Had only been a month and he did not consider his son to be that fucking stupid.

But then again he also would not put it past Salvatore. He could be stupid.

His phone rang and it was his brother silvano. If Silvano knew it, it meant people knew it.

"Did you?"

"Yes," Angelo answered without waiting to beat around the bush. This was not good news. This was the possible news that he had ever received.

And he had received the news about Alexis’s pregnancy ten years after the twins’ birth.

"What are the odds of that happening before?" Angelo whispered the words before carefully glancing at his wife.

There was no way that Alexis knew about it. The woman would start jumping without trying to figure out what actually happened.

"The children are up to something." Silvano said instead. "I know for a fact that they have invited gang leaders from all over New York. It’s going to be a bloodbath in their house."

He didn’t fucking care about that. He had trained his eldest child to be ready for any kind of blood becoming his way. Salvatore could very well deal with them and Angelo did not worry about it in the slightest.

Because if Marcelo thought that he was being brutal with him, he could not even imagine how brutal Angelo had been with Salvatore.

"Apart from that,"

"Apart from that," Silvano repeated, "I think it might be true. After all, we have not seen her yet have we?"

And how awfully true that was. Because Alexis had been planning the party of Evelyn’s introduction just like hers had been planned.

One of the main reasons why Alexis was doing this was to honour Isabelle’s; his mother’s efforts and it irritated him the most that his child had tried to ruin those efforts.

"He is hiding her." Angelo concluded.

Silvano’s hesistion came in, "it could be just for protection. They are in a territory that is disputed."

"I guess I will have to see that for myself."

True, but he also knew his son.
