Chapter 140: A plan for revenge - I

Days had gone by since he had last walked into the room where his wife was staying. He did not bother to even keep an account on the day. All he knew was that she was being fed two times a day and they were random.

He had made sure that she was receiving the same food everyday. It was perfectly nutritional and he did not care about the fucking child.

The food was enough for everyone but not enough to feed two people. The other person was someone he did not acknowledge and was not going to.

"Anything else?" Salvatore closed the file and placed it on the table before he looked at his consigliere.

Dante on the other hand appeared to be torn. "Are we not going to acknowledge it? You know I am aware of what happened." Dante was the one to find out about the pregnancy before Salvatore. He had made sure that the reports were shown that Salvatore would know about it at the earliest.

Because he knew that if Salvatore had the chance to delay looking at the reports, he would..

"Good for you then," Salvatore muttered under his breath as he fidgeted with his cufflinks. "The word should not get out."

It was not necessary to tell that to Dante. His cousin had been his ride or die brother from the very beginning and it almost seemed useless to say that to him but it was precautionary.

Dante’s facial expressions hardened, clearly between the fact that he did not like being told that. "Do you think of me as a rat, brother?"

Salvatore scoffed. "Fuck, no." His brother was no rat.

"Then don’t say that to me again," Dante warned him as he pointed his finger at Salvatore. "I might turn into a Jerry."

"Jerry or not, I shoot rats." Salvatore deadpanned.

The atmosphere around them was dense as Dante fell quiet but his eyes remained on his brother and the Don.

If the news got out, not only would the entire family be shamed, if Evelyn had any chance of being saved she would have to be executed.

At that moment it would be the principle that would have to be brought first. It would not matter to anyone if Evelyn was the don’s wife. What would matter is that she had cheated and she would have to pay like any rat in the family would.

"She didn’t know, did she?" Dante spoke quietly making sure that other words remained in between the don and him.

If there was any chance that Evelyn knew about it then Salvatore would have made sure she regretted it. If she was still alive, which he was sure that she was, it was obvious that Evelyn did not know.

"I don’t care," Salvatore spat. He was irked from the beginning of the conversation and the topic that his brother had chosen.

"Don’t?" The consigliere taunted back.

"Shut it, Dante." Salvatore cursed. His jaw clenched harder than before. " I don’t want to say a word about it. Let it be forgotten."

"Forgotten is not something that is going to happen here Salvatore and you know it." Dante retorted immediately. His words were equally sharp. "We need to do something about it."

There was nothing that could be done here, in Salvatore’s eyes. What was supposed to happen had already happened and now they could not do anything about it. The least they could do was to hide from everyone’s eyes and he was going to do just that.

The fact also helped that there was no one that could question his decision.

Salvatore waved his hand in the air, clearly dismissing the matter in front of Dante.

But the consigliere shook his head, "what is it that you are planning on doing? Do you think it would happen to cross no one’s mind that they have not seen the young Donna?" It was essential for Evelyn to be seen especially when she came from a background that was just like their own.

She was the queen and she was expected to behave as such.

"It would also be very much likely that your mother is already thinking of throwing the party that would introduce Evelyn to everyone, especially the ladies. What would you say then?"

In fact it must have already begun. From what Dante knew and heard from his mother Alexis was planning the party a week after they were supposed to come back from their honeymoon.

He had picked up a valid point. That was something Salvatore had not yet thought about. Instead of answering him, he leaned back into his chair and closed his eyes, placing his head up towards making sure that Dante could not see him.

"Don’t face away from me. This is the least of what I can tell that you have not thought about." Dante snickered. "We have been here for 25 years, my man. I think I know you better than what you assume."

A Chuckle left Salvatore before he could realise it. Yet again he remained motionless and did not reply to Dante.

He would have to find a reason to tell his mother to delete the party without letting his father know the truth.

It was going to be difficult to make sure that his father was not aware of what was happening and that was going to be the biggest challenge of all. Angelo loved to try and poke in too many things especially when it came to his leadership.

If his father got wind that he was asking his mother to hit back on the party, his father was not going to take a second before trying to find out what Evelyn and he were up to.

Fuck, papa was going to be a problem here is that he was not going to get rid of very easily.

It was then when Salvatore chose to open his eyes and lowered his head. The Don’s eyes met with the consigliere and a knowing look passed both of them.
