CEO's Reborn Wife-Chapter 81 - 89: I Have a Good Memory
Jane Sampson’s current mindset was purely that if she couldn’t get things done, James Black shouldn’t expect to be able to either.
Don’t you like reading books before sleep?
Her script was still in her purse, and she hadn’t even had a chance to glance at it, so why should he sit there leisurely while she tossed and turned in the bed?
Unfair!
"Are you sleepy?" James Black turned his wrist to look at his watch and asked.
"I’m dead tired, dead tired!" Jane Sampson urged repeatedly, "The light you’ve left on is affecting my sleep."
She didn’t expect James Black to think she was being petty and storm out of the room in a fit of pique, so it didn’t surprise her at all when, after putting away his book, he lay down next to her.
After all, that’s just the kind of man he was, sometimes annoyingly nice.
After James Black lay down, he turned off all the lights inside the room, and the window curtains were always drawn. The thick curtains blocked out all the moonlight and starlight, leaving the room in darkness.
In the darkness, the senses heightened, and Jane could feel even the slightest movement of the person by her side.
It wasn’t until a broad palm wrapped around her waist, pulling her backwards until she was nestled in the arms of the person behind her, that it stopped. Then, she was flipped over, changing from a position back-to-back with James Black to being held in his arms, like a little bird seeking comfort.
"What are you doing?" Jane Sampson immediately froze, thought for two seconds, and reminded him, "My period isn’t over yet."
"I know," James Black said with a snort, "I have a good memory, no need for you to remind me every night."
"..." Jane Sampson wriggled in James Black’s arms, her lips moved, and she asked, "Then why are you holding me? Let go!"
James Black didn’t answer, but he didn’t let go either.
Why hold her?
Because he disliked her usual sleeping position with her back to him and far away.
Or perhaps, he enjoyed watching her get riled up, her eyes filled with indignation, fruitlessly struggling, trying to break free from his arms but unable to do anything about it. It was quite entertaining. 𝙧𝙚𝙚𝔀𝒆𝓫𝓷𝙤𝓿𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝙤𝓶
"James Black, are you trying to cook me alive?"
In such hot weather, even with an air conditioner in the room, being held by a man as hot as a furnace was unbearable. After struggling for half a day and breaking into a sweat, Jane Sampson felt like she was about to explode from the heat.
"If you stop fidgeting, you’ll cool down after a while," James Black’s voice carried a hint of laughter he was suppressing, as he reached out and touched Jane Sampson’s forehead, indeed finding a layer of sweat.
"If you let go, I won’t move," Jane thought to herself, wondering why James Black was being so difficult to talk to this time?
Last time he held her like this, all she had to do was say a word and he let go. Was he planning to pick a fight with her this time?
Was it because she had snuck some instant noodles and got caught, so he was using this method to punish her?
Once Jane Sampson figured it out, she stopped twisting around and gently tugged on the hem of James Black’s pajamas, speaking softly, "James Black, I know I was wrong, I really won’t dare to do it again in the future."
Jane Sampson’s sudden admission of guilt made James Black pause, "What did you do wrong?"
"I shouldn’t have snuck the instant noodles. I swear, there really won’t be a next time," Jane’s voice was filled with contrition, and no matter if she really felt she was wrong in her heart, she at least had to show an intention to mend her ways, "So, in consideration of my willingness to admit and correct my mistake, could you let me go, please?"
James Black, well-grown as he was, felt for the first time what it was like to experience this kind of emotion.
He laughed, albeit annoyed.
