Chapter 393: Chapter 401: I Like

The stuff in the box had unexpectedly entered Jane Sampson’s sight.

Gazing at the familiar-looking lipstick that lay quietly inside the box, Jane simply froze there, for a long time, slowly coming back to her senses before taking a sharp intake of breath.

"You... is this for me?" Jane was dumbfounded. The lipstick was familiar not because she owned it but because she had posted about this very lipstick in her Moments not long ago.

Therefore, having seen images of this lipstick several times over the past few days, Jane recognized it immediately.

"Not for you? Who else do you think I would buy it for?" James Black felt that Jane had asked a question that rather insulted his intelligence.

He had just one wife, Jane. A custom-made lipstick, if not given to her, could it possibly be meant for Peter Gingery?

"This is the lipstick you were so sure I would love?" Jane pondered a moment before inquiring, "How did you figure I’d like this lipstick so much?"

This question troubled Jane herself. When had she given James the impression that she liked this lipstick so much?

James too detected something amiss in her tone and said, "I saw you post about it in your Moments that day. You said you loved it but couldn’t afford it. Jane, there’s nothing you can’t afford in this world, except maybe airplanes, cannons, and tanks. Understand? If you like it, you have the right to own it."

Jane held the lipstick, dumbstruck.

James kept a steady gaze on Jane, her reaction somewhat different from what he expected.

Upon receiving such a beloved gift, shouldn’t she be hugging him joyfully to say thank you, or perhaps kiss him and then say thanks?

That’s how the wives on TV reacted with surprise and delight to gifts from their husbands.

"You don’t like it?" James quickly considered this might be the issue. At that time, Jane might have liked it, but the custom order took too long, and additionally, her being away from home had delayed the gift-giving. Had her interests faded, and she no longer liked it?

Felt that the lipstick was outdated?

James swiftly took the lipstick from Jane’s hand, "Since you don’t like it, I’ll just throw it away."

Having said this, James stood up intending to head toward the trash can when Jane cried out and hastily flung herself at James Black’s waist, clinging on to him.

"Don’t throw it! Please don’t throw it away! I love it! Of course, I love it!" After she embraced James and saw that he stopped moving, she quickly reached out to snatch the nearly-discarded lipstick and treasured it behind her back, giving James a fierce look, "You waste of heavenly gifts, how could you think of throwing it away!"

"If the person I’m giving it to doesn’t like it, why keep something that’s just an eyesore?" James retorted.

"I do like it! I really like it!" Jane immediately stashed the lipstick in her pocket, then swung on James’s arm, "Thank you, I really love it."

She had never thought about buying it when she posted on Moments before, regardless of whether she had the money then, Jane never had that intention.

But as a woman, who can resist the happiness that diamonds bring them?

This thing, when bought by oneself, versus when given as a gift by someone else, those are two completely different feelings.

Jane said she really liked it, and it was true. She felt, probably, she would never receive another gift in her life that would move her heart quite like this one.
