CEO's Reborn Wife-Chapter 392 - 400: 2 bucks
James Black parked the car and as soon as he saw Jane Sampson standing at the elevator entrance, one hand holding her mobile phone and the other a lottery ticket, which she was checking, he walked straight up to her. Taking advantage of his height, he looked down at Jane and clearly saw the contents on the mobile phone screen.
"Heh," James couldn’t help but let out a chuckle, "How much did you win? Five million?"
"Wait a minute, I’m not done checking," Jane quietly replied.
The elevator had arrived, and James simply picked up the person who was seriously checking the lottery ticket and walked in. Jane surprisingly did not resist and followed him into the elevator, lifting her foot to walk in step with him.
When the elevator reached the 32nd floor and they arrived right at home doorway, Jane casually stuffed the lottery ticket into her purse and then stepped out of the elevator first.
Seeing her like that, James knew for sure that she hadn’t won anything, but he couldn’t resist teasing her. So he deliberately called to Jane, who was two steps ahead of him, and asked, "How much did you win?"
The person in front stopped in her tracks, turned her head, and gave him a cheeky smile. Then she raised two thumbs and shook them in front of her.
"Two thousand?" James raised his eyebrows, a bit surprised.
"No, more," Jane shook her head.
"Two hundred?" James’s laughter was unstoppable now, "Two hundred is not bad either."
"Two bucks." After Jane answered, she laughed heartily for a good few seconds before fishing out the key to unlock the door. Probably afraid of being teased by James, she kicked off her shoes as soon as she entered, didn’t even put on slippers, and ran into the house laughing all the way to lie on the sofa like a lazy bone.
After entering, James first bent down to place Jane’s shoes, one to the left and one to the right, onto the shoe rack. He then lightly lifted her luggage by the handle and brought it in to place at the doorway. Remembering that Jane had entered the house barefoot, he also picked up her slippers and placed them next to the sofa for her.
"Where’s my gift?" Jane, lying on the sofa, turned her head to James and asked, "You said if I came back on time, you’d give it to me."
"Mm-hmm." James hooked up the corner of his mouth, then went straight into the bedroom. But just a few seconds later, he came back out to Jane’s side and handed her the item he was carrying.
Upon seeing it, Jane exclaimed curiously, "Nice packaging."
Although it was small, seemingly no bigger than the size of her palm, the box was indeed exquisitely wrapped, and most importantly, she saw the JK logo on the packaging box.
Was it cosmetics?
Jane felt amazed, or rather as if the sun had risen from the west.
She got excited, sat up straight, and with the small box held in her arms, she leaned down to find a pair of scissors on the tea table. She couldn’t wait to unwrap it.
"Is it perfume or lipstick?" Jane asked James curiously while she unwrapped.
"Won’t you know once you open it?" James sat by Jane’s side, looking at her expression without missing a beat.
"Hmm..." Jane’s speed at opening express deliveries was fast, she quickly opened the box, but unexpectedly, there was another box inside, and this time, there were a few sheets of paper that looked like invoices, all in French, which Jane couldn’t understand.
"These seem important, hold onto them for me." Jane haphazardly stuffed all the white papers into James’s hands before opening the other box.
This box wasn’t sealed in plastic, nor was it wrapped in lots of tape and bubble wrap like the outer one. A single snap closure, with a light flick, the box popped open.
