"I’m not happy about it at all!" Jane Sampson quickly protested after giving James Black a kick to the lower leg.

Her mouth says no but her heart says yes; she would place second in this world at denying her true feelings, and no one would dare claim first.

James Black leaned down to touch her lips with his, intending to wake her with a kiss, but seeing her sleeping so soundly, he ultimately didn’t have the heart to disturb her slumber, merely biting gently on the corner of her mouth before letting her go.

James Black sighed as he entered the bathroom, and soon after, the sound of rushing water filled the space, a sound that didn’t disturb the deeply sleeping Jane Sampson in the slightest.

After falling asleep, Jane Sampson became as docile as a newborn kitten, curling herself up without him, with half her head already buried under the quilt.

When James Black laid back down and reached out his hand to pull, he brought her right back into his arms, and the little kitten became a curled-up sleeper in his embrace.

Jane Sampson cherished her sleep that night deeply.
